Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan has been convicted of corruption and sentenced to three years in prison, disqualifying him from elections for 5 years. Shahbaz Sharif Govt also indicated delay in elections. In Ep 1285 of Cut The Clutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta talks about how the Army has perfected its “hybrid” rule.

OMG Horrible takes. You don't need to worry about placards or cliches if you adhere to truth. When you are not adhered to truth, but provide opinion from copy paste, that's when you need to worry about cliches.
What you said about dejavu is totally wrong. It is a psychological phenomenon when a particular moment in your daily life feels like it happened before as exactly, or feels like you have been in that exact place and time before. In colonial sense for political purpose, dejavu means it is repeating incident.
You are telling dejavu means an incident in politics happened as one predicted. Totally wrong.

I actually forgot that Imran Khan was even the PM. They "erased" his popularity OVERNIGHT as if he never existed (and forget being PM, the guy was a World cup winning captain and perhaps, the most recognized Pakistani). Reminds me of the "waqt badal diya, Halata badal diye" meme. Pak Army operates at a whole other level. Lucky for us, they are not as skilled at combat as they are in treachery.

The anger is palpable in Pakistani society. Imran Khan is the most electable leader with 60-70% plus support, even rigging elections won't placate them. Establishment doesn't know how to get rid of the Imran Khan phenomenon.
Even the most illiterate rickshaw driver now talks about how this system is looting them. It's truly incredible to see. Makes me happy to see the people who were meant to be cattle, have become aware of the system.
These are the winds of change. This will bear fruit.

Toe the line or else. Bow down and listen, understand your place.
Imran Niazi is a fascist idiot who doesn’t understand governance. He adopted the corrupt practices and lapped up wealth the same way his predecessors did before him and then he thought he could berate the military establishment into swearing their allegiance to HIM.
He wanted to become Turkiye Edrogan, the Pakistani army is not the Turkish army, they have seen a thousand Imran khans
Bhutto Senior was their blue eyed boy once, raised up by Ayub himself. Bhutto thought his popularity had become his shield, he was quickly taught public support in Pakistan does not mean much, Nawaz Shariff was sculpted by the military establishment, Pakistan agencies used bags of cash to bribe politicians to abandon PP and join PML N. NS started believing he had become stronger, started to voice his displeasure at his masters and than project Imran was launched.
The military establishment is a king and people are just glorified slaves. It is not one man or one institution. It is this system. Establishment masters prop a politician to pretend to take the country’s reigns for the simple reason to have someone to blame. Compromised people who are dragged in the streets with the
      blackmail files that are
collected over lifetimes. A file for every man of influence.
Khan had penetrated deep within the establishment, Former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed had used those very same blackmail files to keep the apes at the Supreme Court in line.
The army does not want to make Khan go to jail. They are not naive, they understand it will only increase his popularity. His image is tarnished, the evidence against him, his wife and her accomplices is too overwhelming for any rational man to ignore.
The civil society does not back him. He has support within certain factions of the judiciary and the army but that support is wanning. His party is dismantled and there was never anything like free and fair elections in Pakistan at any point.
The establishment wants Imran Khan to go into exile, leave politics so the damage he has done to the military establishment can be undone.
Final nail in the coffin was the mob burning martyr memorials was downright criminal, burning Jinnah house, the residence of a core commander deserves convictions.
Imran khan went insane with his power. He should take a step back and revert back to his old politics, his only play is to get the civil society on his side.
The jolly Pashtun red revolutionary that is Ali wazeer, the charismatic Manzoor Pashteen, the passionate Mohsin Dawar, the principled activist Jibran Nasir. the people of Pakistan owe their gratitude, they might not win elections but their actions and sacrifices are not inconsequential.

2018 to 2022 Imran Khan had ruled like a fashest ruler. He used NAB to put whole opposition in prison without any case and evidence. But himself was doing corruption exposed by then ISI DG Asim Muneer now army chief. Imran Khan and his support Faiz Hameed had a plan to ruin the country for 20 years, thanks to army core commanders who told bajwa to stop supporting this puppet. So Faiz Hameed transferred and Imran Khan chair left without legs. This is reality.

Pakistan never achieved independence! Read Pakistan Monarchy.
Pakistan's economic problems are symptoms of its geopolitical problems. Pakistanis will never prosper until they fight for independence from Pakistani Generals and the Anglo-$axons and switch sides in the Great Game.
200 years ago 5,000 British soldiers along with 12,000 sepoys crossed the Indus River and entered Afghanistan and carried out regime change by overthrowing King Dost Khan of Afghanistan in an unprovoked act of aggression. The British Empire feared King Dost Khan may form diplomatic relations with the Czar of Russia to help Afghanistan restore its lost empire in the Indus valley. The Royal Grand Indus Army that owns, occupies and ru(i)ns Pakistan maintains Britain's imperial legacy and enforces British foreign policy in Afghanistan and Indus valley for a fistful of $$$. Shekhar Ji, also need one episode on this whole Newsclick-China money saga.
Please please stay vigilant, the youth of this country will not be able to swallow a hard pill about your organisation. The Chinese have gone nuts in their efforts to control the narrative.
Though I've some disagreements with you but I won't hesitate to accept that you are one of the few sane voices left in this country.
Also, you can ask your research team (or Adil Brar) to look into how all of a sudden 5-6 Indian vlogger got permission to vlog in a censored country like China in the past 3-4 months and how they showed everything GREAT about China. Some even got permission to shoot in Xinxiang, don't you think it's shady?
I got suspicious because the comment section of those vloggers are filled with comments from Chinese accounts, probably BOT accounts as how in the hell Chinese people are understanding what these vloggers are saying in Hindi? And those Chinese accounts are vehemently correcting the vlogger in the comment section if they showed Xinxiang province in -ve way even for 1 sec.
Thanks for reading, if you've. And stay safe from Chinese people!

As an American I think it is a huge mistake for the USA, Pakistan and the world that the USA is a big supporter of the Pakistan military. It reminds me of when the USA intelligence community was a huge supporter of South American fascist military regimes in the 1970's and 1980's. You would think that after the USA's experience in Afghanistan where Pakistan openly supported the USA but covertly supported the Taliban that the USA diplomatic corp and intelligence community would have wised up. That doesn't seem to be the case. I wish there were more American State Department employees and intelligence people that were as smart about Pakistan politics and military as Indians and Pakistanis are.

As far as military is concerned, one thing is very clear now, common educated pakistanis think that military is the mother of all problems in Pakistan, and it definitely is, the country is made hostage by the ruling military.. military never wanted Civilians to run the foreign policy... Would modi allow indian COAS run the indian foreign policy or your judiciary is controlled by your military lets say??
All these events are smoke screen, common Pakistani now fully understands who is mother of all problems, military never spared any single PM in Pakistan 76 years history, none of them fought back, its only Imran Khan who has burnt all the boats and giving them tough time at the political front, why ? Because he has nothing to loose, and in this process he has exposed all of his opponents...

I am an admirer of yours and a dedicated listener. However, I would like to bring to your attention a concern I have regarding what seems to be a biased or less informed stance in your analysis of Pakistani politics. It appears that your perspective may be influenced primarily by sources such as the GEO group and similar-minded journalists. I sincerely hope you consider delving deeper into your arguments.
I've noticed that you express strong convictions, such as labeling the cases against Nawaz Sharif, initiated during PPP governance, as baseless. Additionally, you seem to overlook the trajectory of Nawaz Sharif's rise from a military background to prominence in Pakistani politics. I would appreciate if you could clarify a few points:
1- Given your advocacy for civilian supremacy, how can you reconcile this with your selectiveness in your viewpoints?
2- Back in 2018, Imran Khan's election has been referred to as a "selection" by some quarters. Could you provide evidence, if any, that this claim was presented in a court or voiced by the opposition? I'm eager to understand.
3- If the notion of being "selected" was applicable to Imran Khan, why isn't it being applied now in 2022, especially considering your apparent sympathy for PPP and PML-N?
4- Considering your historical stance against military rule in Pakistan, what is the rationale behind your current support for it?
The issue at hand transcends the personality of Imran Khan; it revolves around upholding civilian supremacy, a cause the Pakistani nation is striving for since the 1950s. It's my belief that individuals who value human rights should not tacitly endorse the ongoing events in Pakistan. I encourage you to engage with perspectives that differ from your own.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would also like to recommend an article by a gentleman who is of Indian origin. It might provide further insights. indicanews.com/2023/08/08/justice-markandey-katju-imran-khan-is-bravely-fighting-in-pakistan/

Thanks Shekhar for covering our favorite guilty pleasure - schadenfreude maybe. Noted you mentioned that hybrid regime has been around for 15 years. But my view is that it really started with Imran. After Musharraf’s disastrous regime (and it’s end was ignominious), army pretended to be away from administration. The establishment would step in, when they saw the civil administration cross the line, like when civil administration had offered isi chief’s visit when Mumbai attacked was unfolding. I think Pak establishment took a leaf out of Thai military. Technically Thailand has democracy, but the ex-general was the PM. There are 500 seats in lower house, 250 in upper. But upper is 100% nominated. And you need a joint session to elect Pm. Given 250 upper house members will vote with establishment, a PM will need 376 seats (1 more than half of 750), and to win that out of 500 elected seats is practically impossible. I think that’s what Pak establishment tried to do with IK (even selecting cabinet members for finance, etc). But given the bungling nature of Pak establishment, execution was poor 😀. But now with caretaker govt, they will decide who the ppl who are running the govt, for a while at least till the tenure of caretaker govt becomes untenable.
