  • Nationals MP Keith Pitt has given a frightening description of the current state of housing in his electorate.
“The Albanese government is nowhere near their target on housing and yet the federal government has brought in close on a million immigrants in a very short period of time,” Mr Pitt told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.
“There is nowhere to house them.
“These are the impacts we are seeing right across the country.
“I have literally got people who are sleeping in their cars, tents and caravans and under bridges because
they can't find housing or can’t afford to pay the rent and it is the fault of the policies of the Albanese government that has put them there.”

Time to have this Labour/Greens government stood down and let the people go to the polls.

Bowen’s time as Energy Minister has been a total disaster. But there will still be people who will vote for this clown. Impossible to comprehend.

Labor's energy and housing plans are a total joke and will never be fixed by Labor.

Labor always run around in circles until they can't find a circle to run around, then they blame everything on someone else. Time for Labor to go to oblivion never to return.

If you think the Coalition are any better, check out Simon Birmingham's interview on this very network one month ago. He not only continually ducked, dodged and dissembled - but then SUPPORTED high immigration levels! BOTH ALP and Coalition are in it!

It is no doubt a frightening prospect for anyone renting or selling their home due to financial pressures.
They could easily find themselves homeless.
Demand is now outstripping supply for housing at an alarming rate.

I need a planning permit for my home because its under the Melbourne Airport overlay. Because of that, I cannot have gas in my new home.

No new home built in victoria, can have gas connected.

@@jennymills3147 I don't think that's right. The Vic govt websites says Starting January 1, 2024, new gas connections for new dwellings, apartment buildings, and residential subdivisions requiring planning permits are being phased out. Single home developments that are not under some overlay, don't need a planning permit, only a building permit, so they can have gas.

We have ordered a million large wax coated boxes from China for make shift housing until we figure out how to house all these extra people.
