    Summertime, there is no other place I would rather be, as walking amongst the giant redwood trees, and wishing walking alongside me, looking up at God's majesty, would be someone as beautiful as Thee.

    We are moving there December 1st, I can't wait to get there. I am in the stressful period right now, getting rid of most of our belongings, it's been emotional. I wasn't expecting it to be quite this difficult, but these videos just encourage me that it's all worth it. Thank you for sharing.

    Great job and super informative for a single woman. Realistic, too. This gives me a better idea of what it would be like for me and my family (grown children with children) than most videos I've seen. Thank you! I'll be checking out your stuff. Just subscribed.

    Thank you so much for this video - I watched a few of yours and loved them all. :) I'm a single female just turned 60 last year. :) Currently owning a little regenerative farm in rural Nova Scotia (Canada), after moving here from Montreal about a decade ago where I worked as a psychiatrist/psychotherapist most of my adult life. Was planning on moving to Mexico so learning Spanish and exploring different areas. Your video makes me feel that perhaps lakeside might be a good fit for me - I intend to ride my bike everywhere and not owning a car so the separate bike path is amazing. And I love San Antonio area as well and hope to rend a house with a gardening potential as I'm obsessed with cooking and would like to grow most of my produce, or find organic ones to purchase. Here I raise and grow all the food that could survive on the Canadian east coast but winter is difficult here as there is no pasture for the ruminants and most plants don't survive except berries and other winter hardy bushes. A question for you: how easy is it to find organic produce in the area? Do they spray the berry field in Joco? I'm trying to avoid big conventional commercial farming areas.... Terri

      @anythingispossiblenow  Před 21 dnem

      I'm sorry I am so slow to respond. There is one "farmers market" on Tuesdays where there is supposedly more organically grown produce, though I don't think there is a certification program here. I used to eat totally organic, but I've given up trying here. I just wash everything really well. At least GMO corn is prohibited here for human consumption, so nobody needs to worry about that. But, quite honestly, growing organically is very challenging. I did manage to get a few tomatoes from my garden and I grew 4 different kinds, but the squash vine borers killed all of my squash plants. Bugs are just a huge problem here and with daily rains, neem oil gets washed off daily. I do grow a lot of herbs and swiss chard did well. Food is incredibly inexpensive to buy here, readily available, and absolutely delicious, so other than planting fruit trees and a passionfruit vine, I have decided not to grow much of my own food any more.

    Always enjoy your videos. You’re very easy to listen to and very real. I’m in San Miguel de Allende, about your age and single. I’m going to be a sunbird…as I’ll be getting away from the Phoenix summers and coming down as often as I can other times of the year. It’ll be tough with 2 cats and a dog, but I will make it happen somehow. Your area is much like ours here in SMA…never a dull moment, even when you want one lol! I feel exactly the way you do about a relationship at this point, since I was married to wonderful man for 30 years, and he passed away many years ago. I do alone super well, though I don’t think I’d be happy without a pet in my life. Animals are a family, aren’t they? Till next time, cuídate mucho amiga😊

    Hello. I have watched all of your videos....I think. You mentioned a bed and breakfast in which you stayed in Ajijic. Or maybe it was Lake Chapala when you first moved to Mexico. I have animals too.
    I am looking to move and the place sounded like a wonderful place to start. I admire your decision to take a leap and change your life.

      Hi there! Thank you for watching my videos! I stayed at an AirBnB for a month in La Floresta when I first moved. It was really wonderful with a big enclosed yard for my dog, however that house has been sold and isn't an Airbnb any more. Depending on when you are planning to come, availability varies. In June there was a lot to choose from on Airbnb. Good luck!!

    I’m single also and really feel the same as you-thoroughly enjoying this time in my life. I’m planning to move there in the next 18 months. Thanks for this helpful video!
    I’d love it if you’d make a video about how you’ve dealt with medical insurance. Did you keep Medicare-and Advantage or a Medigap plan? I understand it’s expensive to get private “expat”health insurance in your late 60s. I’m totally ready to make the big move except for this one issue. Thanks for considering making a video about this!

      Thanks for watching! That is a great idea to cover the question about health insurance. I will put it on my list and try to get this done in the next month or two. I have a little backlog of ideas because it has been SO hot this month, I just can't get out and film, but this is a topic that doesn't require going anywhere!! Thank you.

    I would say that among the expats in the Ajijic area single women outnumber single men about six to one. I am happily married but I find when we go out with friends more often than not I am the only male there. I don't mind socializing with women but it's not quite the same as when there are other men in the mix, it's not bad just different. I hike with the hiking group in the mountains and I find the mix is more 50/50 there which is nice for conversation as we hike.

    • @anythingispossiblenow
      @anythingispossiblenow  Před 11 měsíci +2

      It does seem more like 6:1, but the chart I posted doesn't really show that. At this point, I'm just happy to have a lot of really interesting people who have led interesting lives around to talk to. Having been in engineering for a large part of my career, I'm much more used to being surrounded by men, but this is how it is and I'm enjoying making some nice women friends. I can understand how you feel and I'm glad to hear the hiking group is more evenly split. I haven't quite decided whether I trust my knees to hike. I used to be an avid hiker and backpacker, but my hips and knees are not so good any more. Thanks for watching!

      @@anythingispossiblenowof course i was talking about the ratio of women to men that are single with no partner rather than the total expat population. Still, as you say, lots of interesting people around to talk to.

    Great video Tamra ! I just found your Chanel 😊 my husband and I were just in Ajijic last week . It was an exploratory trip . We stayed in Ajijic for 3 nights. We are currently living in San Miguel but are considering moving to Lakeside. We are going to be coming back for a month to see if we really like it as much as we think we do ! What is your favorite town around the lake and where did you settle ? We are taking Spanish classes now so we have more options as far as where to live. Thanks in advance. Debbie

    • @anythingispossiblenow
      @anythingispossiblenow  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Every town has its own vibe, so what works for me is often not right for other people. Chapala is a bigger Mexican town. Ajijic has a lot of activities for the expat community and doesn't really require that you speak Spanish. San Juan Cosalá doesn't have gringo activities and is very Mexican, but has and almost beach town feel and there are the thermal spas there. Jocotepec is actually very cool with a wonderful malecon, but outside of the new gated communities, it is nearly impossible to rent or buy property because it is all Mexican owned. Riberas is heavily gringo, but doesn't have a town center. I'm in San Antonio Tlayacapán and it is quite Mexican, so some Spanish is generally required and there is a lovely little malecon and town center. Ixtlahuacan is actually a wonderful town if you don't need to be right at the Lake. I think too many people rush into buying without sampling different areas. The only way to get a feel is to get here and walk the towns. Go to events, shop, see what town feels like home!

    Great video! We visited Chapala area for about 2 months recently. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there & will most likely pick this area as our permanent. I have trouble with the altitude due to some health issues but I wonder if I would have adjusted when it cooled some. We ended up spending some time at the American Legion in Chapala & met so many great people there also.😊

      Yes. It is about 5,000 ft. elevation and it bothers some people. I'm completely adapted to the elevation....it doesn't take long for the body to manufacture some extra red blood cells, but there may be other issues. The elevation is what keeps this area from getting too hot!

      I enjoy birdwatching. My new garden will be a really welcoming place for birds and other wildlife.....unless my dogs chase them off. You got me wondering about bigfoot here and there is a version called Sisimite only sighted in the jungles in Campeche, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo. So none here in Jalisco. I think there isn't enough forested area for them to hide. Thanks for watching!

    • @anythingispossiblenow
      @anythingispossiblenow  Před 6 měsíci

      The bike lanes are a bit of a free-for-all. Definitely pedestrians, motorized bikes and trikes, sometimes even motorcycles. Rules are not well established, so pretty much anything goes, but caution is advised. Traffic is constantly crossing at intersections and driveways and in some places cars park in the bike lane.
