    I actually tested a sr yesterday. I was not super impressed by matrix but it was pleasant that no one flashed me so a huuuuge improvement from old tesla headlights. I have a nio et7 and was generally impressed by the nippy and nimble ride of the highland. So comfy and nice ride too. And soundsystem at least on par with rhe nio. Kinda impressed and i actually miss it. Used to have a 21 m3p so felt a bit like coming back home. Only thing i did not like is the blinkers. Useless in rouadabouts. I actually regret handing it in yesterday wish i kept it and took it for a drive today as well

    The new headlight of highland is significantly dimmer than the previous model, however the illumination of the matrix module has better uniformity.
    What's more important is that it has permanently solved the dazzling problem of lowbeam in the previous model by adjusting the shape of the cut-off line.

    Made the same observations like you did about it. Very responsive and working quick for the most part. Some trucks will flash at you but they did it in my Volvo too, so I guess it's because the truck drivers are sitting high and get the annoying lights in their faces before the car detects the lights of the truck. I'm really pleased to have matrix lights now because I really missed them from my Volvo.

      Also, if you zigzagging to test, the car in front of you thought that you were impatient and wanted to pass, just as a kind mention, perhaps have a companion in front of you to do certain tests to check how the lights behave with the metrix lights.

    This type of lighting system is incredible, but the price that comes with them is outrageous. I’m not just talking about Tesla, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes are all doing the same thing. They are milking their customers to the tune of 3€500-€5000 to replace these types of lights, please remember this price is only the product. This has nothing to do with the installation and reprogramming that it works with your vehicle. This price is only for one headlight which means if you have to replace both of them, it’s double the punch. Who would ever imagine that we would pay up to 8,000 to 10,000 just to replace headlights. I guess that’s what they call a game changer.

  • @swecreations
    @swecreations Před 3 měsíci

    I like that it's not too bright, headlights in a lot of cars have gotten so excessively bright it's almost dangerous.
    Matrix lights take some time to register oncoming cars and turn off the lights, if I'm going through a hairpin turn I don't want it to be so bright the oncoming car is completely blinded by the time it manages to turn off.
    Also it's good that the lights turn off in cities and around streetlights, light pollution is a real issue and if it isn't needed it really shouldn't be on. When you're driving around residential areas you don't want to shoot highbeams into houses, and blinding pedestrians/cyclists, below 30 km/h highbeams really aren't needed anyways as lowbeams already cover way past your stopping distance at those speeds.

    • @philipperapaccioli2868
      @philipperapaccioli2868 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Tesla chargers and cars in Europe are CCS since 2019, except for first generation V2 chargers which have both NCAS and CCS plugs. Some of the early Model S and X cars also had NCAS plugs. There is no charging infrastructure in NCAS in Europe other than Tesla V2 chargers and no cars equiped with NCAS plugs other than some old Teslas. Tesla chargers with CCS plugs are just as reliable as Tesla chargers with NCAS plugs. Besides, I am not aware that the NCAS plug is in any way superior to CCS. As indicated by Danne89, CCS is compatible with 3phase electricity which is commonplace in Europe. Three phase current allows for thinner copper wires than monophase current which requires higher Amp ratings. So for Europe, CCS is superior to NCAS. In America, three phase current is not as wide spread.
      The problem is the high speed chargers other than Tesla's which are not 100% reliable. Then again, non Tesla chargers have to communicate with many different car brands.
      So the plug is not the issue, it is the hardware and software of the chargers and possibly the cars themselves.

      - auto blinker off
      ...
      I can stop there. Yes, you can find many of the features of the Tesla in cars that are almost double the price. But you have also many features unique to Tesla, even for car that are double or triple the price.
      So you can focus on one single feature but a car is a total package. So far, I do not know a single car, at any price, that offers all what Tesla offers.

      @@jeanbaptistelabellethere were plenty, even cheaper ones. And then there were systems like my old Passat, which had projector LEDs with shutters. They work better than the Matrix LED in this Video, much beighter as well. That was a 2018, but those headlights were introduced in 2015.
      Facelift (2020) had Matrix, which have more zones and react a bit quicker, but they don't stick to turns quite as impressively as the shutter LEDs did.
      Tesla still has a long way to go in terms of headlights... But hey, it's not like the entire ADAS is based around vision for Tesla...

    Tested it for over 400km as I got soo many flashes from trucks from the opposite side. I don't know how good is for normal cars, but certainly not working as intended for bigger/taller trucks.
    Also, sometimes, if there are multiple signs, especially in areas where construction is happening, it goes APE sh1t due to the reflection. Goes on/off like crazy over and over.
    I eventually turned it off. I was excited but in the end it needs a LOT of work.

      Tesla only uses the cars cameras for headlights, wipers, parking, etc... Tesla does not use dedicated hardware. It's for the sake of simplicity, reliability and low production costs.
      Your car probably has a dedicated camera for the matrix headlights, a dedicated electrical circuit with a processor, dedicated wiring. Same thing for the automatic wipers.
      So it's the Tesla way. Simpler, cheaper, but not necessarily better.

      @@kain0m It is simpler, that is why it is cheaper. Cars are tested by government regulators before they can be sold, and this covers headlights. So all cars on the road when new meet government regulations including the shape, spread, size and intensity of their light beams.
