I do a no meats(poultry, and sea food too) and minimal drinks of all types. Water to drink whenever. I do allow my body to "cheat" and eat whatever, but i go through a feedback loop from body to mind for about a week give or take to find out what im hungry for and not just craving. Hope that helps some people out.

As a post menopausal woman trying to lose weight through Intermittent Fasting, working out doing HIIT, cardio, etc.....I have learned so much from his research on women. I was over training, hair thinning, hair loss, cold all of the time, not losing weight or inches. All I did was stop working out intensely, started doing yoga, stopped fasting 20/4 most days of the week, and my body started changing, and still is. I have not weighed myself because it messes with my mind horribly. Havent measured myself because it's all numbers. I feel better, my clothes are fitting better, my hair is no longer falling out. It's been mind blowing. I listened to another interview about a month ago and I am finally seeing results. What he days works. I dont use bulletproof coffee but I sometimes add butter to my coffee. It helps on my 24hr fasts. I do a 24hr fast once a week. I cant do any longer or my sleep gets really messed up.

Yvette Bennett.. I am post menopausal and been fasting 20/4, or 23/1… then also doing 48 hr with a 72 hr a week or two at a time.. My results have been 0 weight lose and even gaining a lb or 2 of fat.. I follow a Carnivore 98 to 99 % of time..! No inches lost and no lbs lost.. done this for two months following 2 very successful months of Ribeyes only with a 12 lb of fat loss and 7.5 “ lost and maintained even to date. I don’t bother w/ a lb or 2 in fluctuation if my diet, sleep and moderate exercise is consistent.
I think I need to reduce strict fasting and eat 2 meals 3 days a week and IT 2 days and do one 24 hr fast a week. Sed how this. helps body balance and start releasing fat… Presently my body is holding on tightly to fat … Your note as well as this great informative interview with both guest and interviewer was so helpful!! Thank you all… 😁👍

One 'trick' that helped me when I first tried fasting was doing a mental reframing. When I saw food somewhere, instead of feeling, "That looks good I want to eat it," I reframed it into something like, "That pizza (or whatever) is just another object like a pencil, or car tire, or chair, etc." That reframing allowed me to not have to use willpower to resist. Nobody has to use willpower to resist eating a car tire.

But the interesting thing you learn is that it's really not hunger you are feeling, it's craving and them two things are different. Hunger sets in when your body is deficient and it has no more energy to burn. Craving is just that and it becomes pretty easy to ignore.
I still get cravings, my mouth will water and my stomach will growl sometimes but I know the difference between hunger and craving. After about a week I got really used to it. 3 months in and it isn't hard at all anymore

Amazjng video so far and I'm only 30 minutes in!
Big takeaways from first ⅓ of video:
    1. Eat an early dinner, don't snack after that.
    2. Have coffee or bulletproof coffee in the morning to activate ketones
    3. Wait until lunch for your first meal and you've already achieved a 16 hour fast.
    4. Coffee details: straight black coffee is acceptable as it will activate ketones while giving energy; coffee with 1 tsp butter or MCT oil is better. Adding insoluble fiber like acacia fiber to that mixture is optimal as it will feed the good bacteria in the gut and also help you feel full.
Blend the coffee with butter / oil; doing this processes the water molecules in such a way that they can be utilized by the body immediately vs. having to convert them.
If the coffee you're having is making you angry or jittery or hungry, chances are it is a moldy batch as clean coffee doesn't give these side effects. There are no regulations in the US for acceptable mold levels in coffee beans. Switch coffee brands.
    5. Women should fast 3-4 times per week and have breakfast other days to avoid negative impacts to their menstrual cycle.*
    6. Cellular flexibility is the goal; occasional breakfasts are good so the mitochondria don't lose the ability to run off carbs. This will avoid plateaus as the body likes variety.
    7. Having the fat first thing in morning trains the cells that they are safe to start burning fat all the time.
*edit: this is where I messed up fasting personally, as I was all or nothing, hit a wall and started having negative side effects. I had written-off fasting as not for me - until now!

I was 196 lbs when I decided to make changes to my diet. I’m 5’10’’ and I did not look terribly, however I started having some diabetes symptoms. I immediately cut out sugars and gradually reduced intake of breads and other carbohydrates. At some point I removed them with one exception, I eat small spoon of rice with my dinner. It took about 6 months for my weight to go down to 162 lbs. I stalled. I was already eating 2 meals per day, lunch and dinner but I was not strict to timing. This is when I decided to do OMAD. My weight started going down again, but not as rapid as before. Took another 3-4 months for my weight to settle around 158 lbs. Currently I do OMAD for two days, next I will eat lunch, following day I will do OMAD or eat again. On weekends I will eat breakfast and skip lunch. I noticed that I need more meat in my diet. Interesting that this makes my weight to go down. Some days I have mostly animal products, other days I have some carbs too. Occasionally I will have ice cream or croissant.

I'm still skipping breakfast and sometimes I fast for 24 hrs to 36 hrs. No fat to lose anymore other than little skin on my stomach over my abs. Cold shower and push ups twice daily before cold shower.
No more sodas and donuts, but I get to enjoy some sweet tea in the 8 hrs window and once in awhile, I eat cake. Easy to burn when you fast. Metabolism burns my calories. I'm 51 with no eye bags. My face was round and now muscular with thick neck bc of push ups

I had never had breakfast before until commercial came with tagline breakfast is the most important meal. So, I ate 3-5 times per day. What happened to me was I feel tired, and sleepy all the time. As the result, I could not concentrate and feel lazy.
After starting intermitent fasting by eating a meal a day (almost 2 months), things chage differently, my blood pressure become normal. And importantly, I feel rejuvenated, energized, healthier and happier and also became productive, never feel sleepy and lazy during day since then.

Fasting makes me feel better, but weight loss is still a struggle, even on Keto and with exercising. I drink bulletproof coffee every mid-morning, and then eat from 12pm-5pm. I have a calorie deficit too. I'm doing all the right things, but weight loss is very slow. I'm losing about a half a pound a week. I truly feel that my body is just too smart and predictable, and knows how to circumvent all my efforts!

Thanks so much for this episode! I started my keto journey back in November 2019 and implemented bulletproof fasting (BPC for breakfast while 16/8 fasting) and keto. By June 2020, I lost 46lbs without incorporating any exercise. Unfortunately, things started to change in my life and I went off of strict keto and did more of a relaxed low carb diet, still incorporating some keto principles. Since June 2020, I have gained back around 20lbs and have tried to get back on keto and start exercising but no luck has come with weight loss. After trying back keto so many times, I am now wondering if keto just doesn't work for me anymore. Any thought on where to go from here?
