It's really odd and surreal to see a great classically trained actor do something like this. I would say that he is one of the best actors alive today. I don't think he's been given enough credit for that.

I'm convinced he can flip a switch in his head and become the character. it's just a much dumber version of himself. The character wouldn't work if he weren't a naturally odd guy. I can't see him in a movie without thinking of Dr. Steve
John C Reilly is fucking genius...he never breaks character. He's such a good actor because he can do drama & slap stick comedy...that takes skill.
This means so much to us who can't watch the thing live because we're too far or because comedy doesn't translate to our countries. This is public service, thank you!

Steve brule, on cinema tim, and on cinema gregg, theres something about the people attached to tim and eric, they are just absurdly good at staying in character no matter what

Crazy when you think that 99% of this (as well as his show) is improvised. That takes serious talent/the ability to think on your feet.
Riley said he doesn't so much act the character as Dr. Brule is real and Riley is channeling him.

I was there in the crowd that night and you could tell that he was getting legitimately angry at all the people with phones.

I saw this show in Pittsburgh, and ended up running into him as he was running in the door! He was in character and yelled at me that I was going to be late to class. I'm not a fan of Tim and Eric, but the show they put on was actually pretty awesome, a lot of crowd participation.
I think John C. Riley enjoys doing this more than everything else. His commitment to Dr. Steve is impressive. I'm sure he enjoys it. In one of his latest interviews as John C. Riley, the real person, he's starting to get a lot of treats from dr. steve. Which is amazing! John Rilley looks so comfortable in dr. steve's skin. love it.

Theres not too many people that could pull this off. Instead of seeing a man up there acting as another character for this long and feeling slightly sorry for them at points. He is so good I never felt like that, instead he really brings the character to life, brilliant!

Thank you for recording this. I'm literally laughing my ass off. I see a comment noting that it's odd to see a classically trained actor do this. Creating a complex character and making people laugh their asses off in my opinion is the height of acting. When Hank's turned from comedic acting to dramatic acting that was a downgrade because many actors can do dramatic acting but only Hanks can do Hanks comedy. Anyways, anyone can be a jackass but that doesn't mean you can't create an amazing character from jackassery. In fact if you're good enough mimicking a jackass for artistic reasons is just plain awesome. It's basically the reason for the success of It's Always Sunny.
Alot of Gen X and Millennial entertainment is "assholery is cool, sincerity is cringe".
