I just love the way you tuck your fingers off the keyboard that are not playing the keynotes. It removes the confusion of which fingers are touching the keynotes. Very good instructions, God bless!

Hi what is the theory behind using G#dim7 to D?
A dim7 chord is a 7 chord were you diminish all notes except the root note.
So a D7 is D, F#, A, C becomes: D, F, Ab and B.
The funny thing about this chord is that the distance between all tones is equal (3 half notes). Therefore a Ddim7 contains the same notes as a Fdim7, Ab/G#dim7 and a Bdim7.
So you can choose another bass note, which you like better.
In this song, the previous chord is a G6mj7. So it's nice to go to a G# (with your left hand) and then to an A (that's why you're playing a D/A).

I'm not sure which part of the video that you are asking about...but I'm sure that short answer is that there is more than one way to play things. Sometimes the left hand will replace notes from the right...and vise versa.
