    As someone whose practice also emphasizes the "craft" in witchcraft, I really get a lot of value from hearing your thoughts about the intersection of those things. It's something few creators talk about in depth, but creating things and crafting a magical narrative with their components is the largest percentage of what I actually DO in my practice. So much of my spellwork is *that*, which seems to be the case for you as well. All this to say: if you choose to leave the platform, I will miss your unique voice immensely. However, the most important thing for you to do is that which feels the most authentic, healthiest, and most enriching for YOU. We will understand, and I will continue to enjoy your blog, of course!

      Thank you so much! Yes, it's exactly this intersection that feels so important! And, accordingly, the thing that makes it awkward to showcase on CZcams... where it seems the point of access is supposed to be according to content genre/community niche with any mixing or deviation handled as an algorithmic 'risk'. In some ways that makes sense - a niche set of interests will necessarily reach are more specific audience. But outside of that, I lose my bearings if I focus too much on youtube alone! ... And yes, even if we just think of the number of hours and the repetition and cumulative nature of crafting, it makes so much sense that spellcraft IS the craft. Do a reading or leave and offering in the morning (for example) and then let that infuse the craft as you work on it. Whatever the paradigm, I think it needs to feel portable and imaginatively available to us!

      Totally. It is a very difficult concept to articulate - to my own satisfaction at least. I've tried several times to get to the heart of it (in the journal I keep for my practice), but end up just feeling like I'm circling it instead. I keep trying, though! Lol
      Yeah, that's very true. CZcams can become all-consuming, whether one intends for it to be or not. My dad has a small channel, and if he doesn't post the same subject at the same time with a similar video length, no one sees his videos. Also at the same interval, which is very difficult when one's channel documents *work* being done! One can end up feeling very bound to it without even noticing how one got there. Also, sunk cost fallacy driving one on, etc.
      Yes, exactly! Even when you consider *just* the time spent on creating something, it's gotta be, right? Also, the time and the intention invested to actually *learn* the skill! Especially if it's an historical craft/folk art, etc. I could go on and on. You get it.
      I love that idea of leaving an offering or reading to permeate your work. I'm going to do that from now on! Thank you for the inspiration.

    I always enjoy hearing your thoughts and ramblings, because it gets me thinking about things too! I especially loved the slower approach discussion ✨ While I do have a preference for video format, I would say go for whatever you feel most comfortable expressing yourself in 😊 I appreciate anything you put out and share with us 💛

      Thank you! I will likely continue posting but it's good to get some sense that I'm not just boring people with random stuff! I think the emphasis will mainly fall on diversifying output across different platforms and stearing clear of the more 'social media' style of content production. (Not judging it, just not my thing.) So glad you enjoy the videos!!! ^_^

      @@SaoirseGraves oh yes, I enjoyed it so much. Watching you knit was sort of mesmerizing. Especially in the beginning with the song and lighting 🤌🏻 it was magical. I love your videos and would miss you if you stopped uploading. There’s no one like you on CZcams or that I know at all and you’re a breath of fresh air. I love hearing your thoughts and watching you craft be it witchcraft or sewing/creatively. I would even enjoy a “tea and talk with me” video where you just sip on tea and talk to us. I miss you on Instagram but I know why you left. The internet is wild. Just wanted to “voice” that I appreciate what you share with us and hope you stick around. ♥️

      Thank you! I do enjoy the creative process that goes into videos. I think things will probably settle over time into a good balance between youtube and blog and other platforms. :) The jumper is shaping up to be fabulously cosy! Almost done with it now!

    Oph, I love your talks. Truly. Your perspectives on muse and artist are fascinating as I, too, have had similar thoughts. Like, how do we know that Madame X didn't want her strap down? 😋 (I know far too little about this example, but...)
    Craft and aesthetics are ever so closely linked that it seems to dilute and, often, limit us, I think.
    Study magic!! Yes. It does seem like it will help workings to have the offerings working as undercurrent.
    Ok, I will miss your videos if you quit. I like reading your blog and feel sometimes you are more vulnerable there, but I like to put your vids on and pander around while listening (unless your showing something like your sweater 😊)

    • @SaoirseGraves

      Thanks Lennan! I think I'll probably aim for a more even distribution of emphasis across blog, youtube, and other creative outlets. I like making videos but I have like...NO proclivity for understanding their reception unless I'm explicitly told! Ha! I love the Madame X example! And whether it was accidental or intentional, it definitely impacted the rest of her life. One. Tiny. Strap. Either that's seriously potent or it's a load of BS. Probably both, actually! >:P And here's to studying our own magic!

    I have gone through phases of unsubscribing from everyone and then subscribing back so many times, but even when I do step away/take a break, I still always look forward to your videos, to your postings; for them to be there when I come back (the stepping away is never long really).
    I do not comment (on any videos honestly) and I am mostly a witness, an observer, but I have to say, I know I am going to feel an empty/blank spot if you were to leave this space. And I *crave* channels like yours; the mindfulness, the intent, the effort, and the inherent *meaning* to your videos and others who are unique to me. You are someone who has caused me to discover unknown aspects of myself and someone who endlessly inspires me and my desire for magic, art, and tarot. I do not know who I would have been if I never came across your existence, your presence, your voice/words.
    I wonder if it is possible for you to seek, create, and maintain a balance with all of the creative outlets you utilize. Whenever I have thought about having my own creative platforms, I have always found that perhaps I might do best if I spread out a bit and not give my all to only one platform/area (especially with how algorithims work, that it is almost a given to have to have multiple platforms for creative work). But of course, I fully encourage you to follow what you feel/know to be wanted and needed from yourself 💐
    It is a very unfortunate thing, how CZcams does not give much opportunity for channels with unique voices, as if everything has to be in neat boxes and no one can overstep the line, not even by a centemeter or they are then cast out into the seemingly endless pit of channels who truly don't have an audience/who naturally is outside of the box.

    • @SaoirseGraves
      @SaoirseGraves  Před 12 dny +1

      What a lovely & kind comment. Thank you! It's an interesting paradox... most of my favourite types of channels don't last long or post only seldomly. It seems there is an audience for certain types of 'content' but youtube does make it tricky to navigate. I think the aim in the future for me will be simply to diversify a bit better across different media/platforms, so you're right on the money with that idea! I, too, am the sort of viewer who rarely comments or engages so I guess we get an ecosystem of creators and viewers who - according to youtube's algorithm - kind of can't perceive each other! Thanks so much, again, for this lovely feedback. ^_^ It was heartening to read!

      @@SaoirseGravesYou are ever welcome! ✨ I have noticed this for myself; that the channels I an subscribed to are of people who allow themselves to be human and recharge, and post honestly instead of based on it being a sort of job or requirement, and I love this even though I find myself hoping they have posted each day that passes 😅. I cannot begin to think of a way for channels with unique content and audiences to be showcased more or perhaps, become more easily discovered, as that would depend on a core change of how CZcams works.
      I suppose it is a *"don't put all eggs in one basket"* situation (as eggs are an important and constant symbol for you 😌).
      I tend to feel unfortunate that I do not comment or engage much with the people I follow, as I would love to always show my support and show that I have been engaged. But I would have to work on my anxiety and the thought of being perceived (though my channel does not give away who I am as a person at all 😅 funny how that works!). As well as my struggle with verbally conveying my thoughts, though it always sound so perfect in my mind!
      I am glad my comment has reached your heart 🌷 You deserve such kindness, consideration, and acknowledgement

    • @SaoirseGraves
      @SaoirseGraves  Před 16 dny +1

      Thank you! Yes, neuro-spicy it certainly is over here ^_^ ...In Cork, if you're looking for tarot there's a shop called Dervish that keeps pretty decent stock along with incense, crystals, jewelry and so on. I think they still have a witchy/pagan/spiritual book shop in one of their upstairs areas as well. If you're looking more generally for things like smudge sticks, herbs, teas and so on... you can actually get them in lots of places. One prominent one is the English Market (which is also usually a tourist 'must visit' thing anyway). There are a few dedicated candle and incense places around (Candlemania on Oliver Plunkett Street springs immediately to mind) but if you're ok with crowded high streets (I'm NOT) there are places like Sostrene Grene that usually stock some lovely candle colours... And then, just for funsies, lots of the smaller pubs and even some of the heritage pubs are lit mainly with candles and fairy lights and have active fireplaces and so on. And of course Mayne's (for wine bar types) is known for the fact that it's an old pharmacy and the walls are filled with old slimy things in jars and pill bottles and such. Very atmospheric ;) ... Also, off the top of my head, outside the city, Youghal has a decent enough witchy shop (in addition to an active local coven and a pretty intense Samhain parade). Ronald Hutton even gave a lecture there at one stage. :)

      @SaoirseGraves thank you so much! I was there not too long ago and enjoyed some pubs, the English Market, some fantastic bookshops {especially Quay Co-op!} and the antique place open on Saturday there. Hoping to take more time next visits to have a peek at things. GRMA!

      And im fancy enough for wine bars most of the time but Mayne's sounds fantastic. But sadly i don't think i will be able to make it to places just outside of Cork city {taking the train and busses up and down the country}. But yeah, i do hope you stick around making videos as ans when you can.
