My uncle was killed on impact by a drunk driver just a few days before he would have gotten custody of me and my siblings out of fostercare. I have ZERO sympathy for those who drive drunk. I was in foster care separated from my sisters and brother for 12 years because of that man.

I was hit by a drunk driver when I was 13 yrs old riding my bike one summer. No one was around to help me. He tried to force me into the car but I couldn't walk due to 2 broken knees and various bones in my legs. He quickly took my bike and drove off. A police officer eventually drove by and saw me on the side of the road and took me to the hospital. Officers came into the hospital room once they located my mother and said that they had found the man but they didn't have any evidence that he had hit me even though he had my bicycle , and no charges filed. He went on to hit another child, 16, in 2020 and killed him. He committed suicide in jail before being held accountable...

Seems like he was a coward from beginning to end. Probably was for the best he couldn’t get you in the car as he could’ve came to a fork in the road and being the coward he was along with being intoxicated (I’m assuming) could’ve made another awful decision. He obviously didn’t care about his own life nor was hitting a 13 y/o enough to change him. Isn’t a stretch to imagine milk cartons in your families future. Tho he sounds so goofy that the worlds largest highway attraction fork could’ve been in the road and would’ve hit it as well. “Damnit, not 2 in the same day! Ok ok, I can deal, man. Just gotta find the bike.” You look in the backseat and there’s like 12 skateboards, few pairs of roller blades, a wheelchair and one of those hind leg rollers they put on dogs.

A drunk T boned my aunt and her family that were just returning home from the hospital after giving birth to my cousin. In the car with my baby cousin was my aunt, her mother, brother and niece (uncle was in the Navy and couldn't return for the birth).
During the accident, my aunt covers the baby and her left side gets mangled, we are talking a broken arm, a leg, pelvis and 3 broken ribs and most were broken in a few places. And her brother and his little girl were dead on arrival. Grandma only had one broken leg and a head trauma, the baby had some scratches from the glass.
The drunken idiot was a truck driver that decided to have a few shots and go home, the police found him catwalking down the road, totally fine and convinced he did nothing wrong.

Experienced divorce lawyer here (Pennsylvania and New Jersey). Often, I’ll be in a courthouse trying a divorce or child custody case and meet one of my criminal defense buddies for lunch outside of the DUI courtroom. It never ceases to amaze me how crowded the courtroom / hallways are for DUI cases. The courtrooms and hallways are always packed. The court system makes millions of dollars on DUI fines, probation fees, counseling fees, judicial resources and computer fees, interlock fees, home monitoring fees, etc. etc. Then add the attorneys fees and hike in insurance rates for a DUI conviction. Drinking (even a small amount) and driving is simply not worth the risk. In addition, alcohol is poison for your liver. If you drink alcohol, take an Uber, Lyft, taxi, or better yet, stay home.

Here's my story, short version. I had 5 dui's in 20 yrs, we're talking 80s n 90s. Last one I got was 1999. I was looking at 3 yrs state pen. I chose sobriety and recovery, was offered DISP program which was a "try n see" if it works type deal i made with judge Baker of Oregon. I was in out patient treatment, 3 yrs, 3 xs a week, 3 hours a night. Plus 3xs AA per week. Couldn't drive for 5 years. I committed to my recovery, to living life and thank God (and what sense I had left) to my choice to live instead of death. Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm an alcoholic, ill be clean 24 years this coming April 10th 2024!🎉😊
Thanks Bruce and Michael for bringing this subject up. Just remember though, it's not the person making the bad judgment calls, it's the addiction. So sometimes bad things must happen to save your life and others too.❤

When i was barely 16 i was in a car with a guy who had been drinking. This was mid 80s. The car was one of those old Monte Carlos, basically a tank, before they built cars to absorb the impact. I REMEMBER looking at the speedometer- he was going 120. We were talling him to slow down repeatedly. He lost control and we ended up upsidedown in a ditch. I was the only one hurt. I was in the hospital for a month. I had numerous surgeries on my legs and my kidneys (when we wrecked, i had to pee and was holding it). The driver was 18 years old. He went to jail thay day. And nothing else. I had to learn to walk again. I have scars on my legs and abdomen that remind me every day. My parents told me never to get in the car with a drinker. I was afraid bc I knew that guy was drunk. But he was my only ride home from the lake. I know, I know. If would walk home now. But I was a kid. My leg will never 100%. I dont even remember what my legs looked like before the accident. We were all kids back then. This guy in the video is a grown ass man, on his 3rd DUI??? ZERO sympathy.

What ticks me off no end is that I don't drink (nothing against it, does nothing for me) and drive at or below the speed limit. I've been pulled over because "that's what drunks do." Meanwhile, traffic is whizzing by 15 over.

@loriswenson2276 well said. People who drive slow are endangering everyone else. I dont think its too much to ask to drive the speed limit. Thats what the engineers set up for safe traffic flow. They are intentionally made about 10 mph less than design to plan for people that will inevitably go above that and for passing cars, etc.

3 DUIs here. Reasonably thinking, it is avoidable. What drives the insanity of addiction and alcoholism can be attributed to a long list of things. Just there is no reason in addiction. No control. Not in my story anyway. I was wishing so bad I could stop and I couldn't. Not by myself because I was stuck in the insanity. Extreme intervention that came in my life finally did it. So what I'm saying is even though you wonder if it's stupidity, crazy, arrogance, petulant, well yeah, it is, and while none of this removes accountability, if you're in it, you're not in control of it.

I haven't been to a bar in two years, but the last time I went my friend was the driver and my margarita cost $15. $15 will get me about a 6 mile ride on Uber here in Los Angeles, and I assume most people drink at their local bar. I also assume Patricj Mahome Sr has more momeu that I do, so a $15 or even $30 Uber isn't going to break his bank.

Nope it was having it offered to me by the judge when he let me out of jail I begged for help he found me a free in patient I got clean and have stayed that way. Idk I’m getting a little bored of the aggressive revenge comments….yeah jail time hey all felonies hey throw em in jail for life…that does nothing productive and costs me in taxes. Unfortunately, it’s a lot harder to prove that somebody was looking at their cell phone than it is to prove that they were under the influence. I was looking at a case where a truck driver slammed into the back of an SUV that was being pulled over by police. Never noticed the red and blue, never noticed the SUV, killed four people. CZcams was playing on his cell phone at the time, but they couldn’t prove he was actually looking at it….

I thought that was weird. I get wanting to have your own suite/party/group, but the way he said it, definitely came across as being annoyed/jealous at the attention the Kelce family, and Taylor, get. The Mahomes family seem like a bunch of people who think THEY are the talent, and THEY deserve attention and fame. Meanwhile, the Kelce family just looks like they are enjoying life and are happy to have this success.

I had a roommate who had about 6 DUI's and went to prison for a couple of years. He had a chance to sober up while he was in prison, but started drinking heavily again the same day he was realest from prison, and on probation. He died a few years later from alcohol induced congestive heart failure! (He drank himself to death.)
