    Dan, you should approach one of the companies and ask them if they are interested in a spot of sponsorship etc.. maybe get a better van for a little cheaper etc.. I am looking forwards to your adventures, don't forget to pack the metal detectors :)

    You have to remember one thing...you're not buying a caravan to go on vacation a few weeks a year! You're buying a home that you're going to be living in for the next ten years!!! So don't be afraid to spend more and get something more comfortable so that you will both be happy in every day so that you can continue making us videos!!! 😄

    I'd recommend purchasing a used rather than new RV. More times than not, new RV's have manufacturing issues and it will spend a great deal of time in the shop having those corrected. With purchasing a good used RV, only a couple years old, the bugs will be worked out and you'll not only save a shit load of money, you'll save yourselves from a whole lot of frustration on repairs, plus many times newer used RV's are still covered by a warranty. Also you may be able to get an RV loaded with luxury options at a super great price that you couldn't otherwise be able to afford in a brand new RV! BTW you will also want a MaxAir vent fan. They help keep the van cool on very warm days. They move a great volume of air through the coach. You definitely will not regret having that upgrade. Food for thought! Best of luck!

    Bicycles come in very handy while living in a campervan. Trips to the store, maybe to a pub for a bite of food, and a pint or two.

    Solar panels is a must !!!! It allows you so much freedom when choosing where to stay.. We call it "boondocking" here in the States when you can camp by going to a site that doesn't have shore power. And Mazzy could pull up that counter extension to use for her table Dan. But that was a wee table.

      Yes that's an important point, solar panels never stop charging when the sun goes in, they just don't work as well. If you're going to live in one it sounds like a 'must have' to me

    I think you should consider purchasing a used caravan. New ones all have settle in problems and if you find one that is a year old with low miles it has all the bugs worked out.
    Your wife is correct about storage space. In an rv the more the better. And the added space with the wide body you will appreciate. I know you don't want a huge bus but try one out. You might like it.

    Panel van conversions are the way to go but forget the three British A’s (Autosleeper, Autotrail and Advantage). Better durability, design and value for money from the European converters such as Malibu, and in particular, Globecar.
    The European approach is for a front dinette (with extra seating and seatbelts) and a fixed bed, which can be removed if needed. This approach allows for a very large storage area under the elevated beds. Microwave, oven and additional burners are unnecessary, two burners are quite sufficient. The English like to sit inside their vans and look out on wet days which explains their fondness for rear lounges.
    Globecar will provide you with clever design approaches and where else will you find a van which offers longitudinal sleeping in the rear, a front dinette and a transverse washroom, all in under 6m.
    Combine this with a Fiat Ducato 130 Multijet engine, solar, a high quality compressor fridge and you will have a very comfortable van conversion which will take you places that a larger coachbuilt won’t. The van conversion will also be stronger, more fuel efficient and drive like a car.

    By the way that huge fan in the ceiling is called a fantastic fan here in America. They are very useful. Matter of fact most people purchasing a new camper here have the small fan in the bathroom replaced with one of those. A company called Max Air also makes them. They move high volumes of air and keep a lot of the smells from building up

    Good Fun watching you two.
    Did you look at any with drop down beds? We used to have to make up beds every night in a caravan,.( I call it cushion tetris) Ok on holiday but fulltime living a complete PIA. That also means some of your storage space is permanently taken up with bedding. The drop downs mean you can leave the bed made up all the time (possibly just the pillows that won't go in the 'loft').
    The RIo with the huge tailgate is for the views and for people that have a pair of £1000 mountain bikes they don't want tied on the bike rack in tesco's car park. Also IIRC the Rio is slightly narrower at 2.1m than standard coachbuilts at 2.3m

    • @kmac499
      @kmac499 Před 6 lety

      Storage of a genny would be a problem in the layouts you are looking at. One solution some people do, is to have a permanent gas lpg tank fitted under the van which can be refilled at the petrol\lpg stations and then the gas cabinet is free for genny storage.
      Not cheap £600+ maybe but if you are doing fulltime you will save money on gas and you can top up rather than exchanging nearly empty gas bottles. It's about half price/ litre as well/
      I think one of the UK makers now fits such tanks as standard on some their vans. (refillable bottles systems are also available)
      Also for full time living (thinking the UK winter) the Chausson range use a diesel heater for the space heating, just carring a single gas bottle for hot water and cooking. You could use a lot of gas to keep warm this time of year even tho' you're not southern softies :-)

    I agree with others, a used one with low miles. Driving new out the door, will lose 5 to 10,000 pounds within the first month. There are some real bargains out there. You need to go to a camp place and talk to people that have some in your size liking and get there opinion first hand with a walkthrough. Most will let you see the inside of their campervans

    100w will not be near enough.
    The manufacturer when ever you can unless you can find a dealer that got a deal from the manufacturer and can sell to you for less. Look for quality, don't be dazzled by the glitter and glam.

      The 100w would just be an extra on top of 2 batteries and a generator. The more power options the better.

    Dan & Mazzy, buy from a dealer, its a numbers game, like cars, if you can find a new 2017 with no miles....that would get you a good deal on a new one in 2018! Dont buy used, other peoples dirt, make your own dirt!

    YOU MAY HAVE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY... BECAUSE OF WHO YOU ARE...
    You have a great track record of traveling.. around the UK.. you should approach a company that makes these campers and see if they'd give you one on loan or at a greatly reduced price, for the free advertising their vehicle would be getting from you and your Videos... I think you might have a great possibility Dan and Mazzy

    • @TravelTrollsTV

      No chance of any company giving one away. Not in England.

      Well then they're short sighted.. Nothing sells a camper or mobile home faster than seeing people use them and promote them.. Sitting on the showroom floor is fine.. but showing it in use is golden.. Sorry Dan..

    Never buy new. Best deals are from private sellers, and don't buy Mercedes.Most people have a motor home for a short while, then sell 'em.So there are a lot of used ones out there . Consider size for parking... Save a fortune on accommodation.

    Used is definitely the way to go. The minute you drive a new one out of the dealership they lose about 10k pounds in value.

    If you are having a difficult time making a decision, maybe a tie breaker other than cost might be any type of reviews of particular models on reliability/cost of ownership? Wouldn't want your beautiful Camper Van spending lots of time in the garage! :-(

    Best thing yous could do is approach a manufacturer tell them what your doing and why you want to purchase a van from them for charity if they would like to advertise there supplying name on the van then so be it . Try not to go to a dealer they get a huge discount from manufacturers on how many they sell and make big profits that’s how they afford big rents and lots of salesmen to create the perfect place to buy a camper until you’ve bought it and it goes wrong then they don’t want to know try get one direct from manufacturer mate .if you have to go to a dealer take the same aprouch. Your doing this for charity’s dan so try all dealers because it depends on who you talk too at the end of the phone line to what help you’ll get. Give it a try mate I think you’ll be surprised

    • @TravelTrollsTV
      @TravelTrollsTV  Před 6 lety +1

      We aren't raising money for charity anymore as stated in a previous video. It was all getting too time consuming adding the charity raising into our videos.
