    That was great! I'm now inspired to break out my 25+ AFX cars and re-tune them for maximum performance. Heck - I'm even reviving my Aurora Model Motoring cars with these techniques. Under my brother's tutelage in the late 60s/early 70s, I would just use a pencil eraser to clean all of my metallic surfaces. Can't wait to bring those old cars back to life!

      Awesome. Yeah most of this will translate to an old T jet.

    Interesting video. I personally do not like to use a dremel tool for car reconditioning. I find a dremel to be a little too aggressive. Pencil erasers work well on armatures and are not as aggressive. High grit sandpaper or emery cloth works well on the pick up shoes and generally makes them flat to the track.

    Fun video. Takes me back to my teenager days! Thanks for all the detail. I’d forgotten about the shoe shaping - nice touch. Those magna-tractions designs were kinda complicated. Maybe show a G-plus car too. Another idea - compare AFX to Tyco innards. Until then, cheers!

    I always launch springs into oblivion when I work on my cars. I need to try the paint brushes next time instead of q-tips (those leave fuzz). Thank you for sharing.

      Yeah I have lost my fair share of springs. I never liked using q tips.

      Thanks a lot. I started making one for the Tyco 440x2 chassis. Just gotta finish it up eventually.

    Awesome video. How about doing a 440x2 video including explaining how to putting it in high down force mode? I just hopped up one a little and the videos I found were a little unclear for the the traction magnets on the 440x2s. Thanks

      Thanks Larry. I’m planning on doing one for each chassis. With a 440x2 you can’t accomplish high or low downforce with factory magnets. You need north/South Pole magnets.

    Amazing video , May i ask what grit was the dremel abrasive wheel that you used to clean to the comm. And what type of red oil did you use to fill the weep hole , TYIA- JC

      @TheSlotSpot  Před 9 měsíci

      600 grit wheel on the Dremel. If I could find a higher grit I would use that. I don’t remember the brand of oil. I have had this bottle for over 10 years now I believe it might be old Trinity oil from RC cars but viper scale racing sells some great oil.
