  • Ortho lesson demonstrates how I fabricate TPA appliance. From start to finish. A new video demonstrating the many uses and activation of this simple but amazing appliance will be coming shortly. If you look closely at the video you will notice that I do something different. That's right without that little secret an activated TPA will most likely break within 2 months. Did you see it? If you read this you will start to make better appliances for your Dr.s Good luck and make sure to leave a Like and a comment especially if you figure it out...…#ortho #tpa #orthodontics #soldering #dentallab #ortholab #szaradentallab #ortodontia

    I was thinking maybe you can put wire size for appliance in the video description? Also I noticed someone asking about a quad helix. I recently made one and noticed they are becoming more requested. Not my favorite to make for sure but a Dr was kind enough to share the rapid results they got. The midline straightened out/lined up nicely. I was excited to see the progress we never get to see from the lab.

    • @SzaraDentalLab
      @SzaraDentalLab  Před 5 lety +1

      The wire I use for a TPA is .040 and Yes if a quad helix is properly made they can do wonders. The problem is I see a lot of quad helix that are not bent very well. Touching the palate, crooked, bad soldering. These all give terrible results.

    • @DebraLynnP
      @DebraLynnP Před 5 lety +1

      Szara Dental Lab I was extremely worried the quad helix wouldn’t have even tension but I guess I did a proper job of it. For appliances like the TPA I have sometimes chose an .036 wire for smaller patient because the area is smaller. What is your opinion?

    • @SzaraDentalLab
      @SzaraDentalLab  Před 5 lety +1

      @@DebraLynnP I know a lot of labs that use .036 for TPAs and arch length maintainers. I personally prefer the thicker wire for less breakage over the long run.

      Szara Dental Lab omg yes! I do the same with my more creative ones.... LoL one Dr sent a pedo partial back 2x... I realized he placed steel crowns where the bands were supposed to sit so I changed the bands and then next time back he place steel crowns over laterals and gave no room for the anterior to fit. I was like ... do the surgery THEN send me the impression! Saw that one more than I cared to!

    Anyway, when welding, the omega should go medial in case the dentist wants to activate it, and it is more comfortable to introduce the pliers in the month. Soldier is called "CETLIN" and removable is called "GOSHGARIAN". I almost forgot, GOOD JOB!!!

    • @SzaraDentalLab
      @SzaraDentalLab  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes. Omega loop is more natural going forward. I make about half forward/ 1/2 backward.. The reverse (backward) Omega loop is designed to rotate (torque) molars into place. Appliance is activated before it is placed into patients mouth.

    you should have added modelling wax over the palate from molar on one side to the other to get a uniform spacing of approx 1.5mm and also it makes the wire bending easier
