This was my exact thought when they printed Ugin. Modern had needed a Pernicious Deed effect for a long time and when they finally decided to print one they gave it to Tron, which was already doing well in that metagame. Smh WOTC
in all fairness tower is at best 1x in the historic version, yawg is pretty pipe hungry
you forgot, grief t1 sac it to tower and play dauthi or bowmaster t1 and with bowmaster you can play fable t2 ;)

Tower is legal in Historic, where the Yawg deck is pretty similar to Modern, and they typically run a single copy there.
Would be neat to see updates on your older decks, or even just compilations of going over multiple for a few minutes, seeing how they do
I'd be down for that! I usually wait for a new card to come along to revive old brews, especially since the metagame has gotten so much stronger since MH2 released!
MH3 will probably shake it up again too so hopefully we see some upgrades to older decks come along!
Wonder if the yawg decks wants to make some changes to the mana base and play the new green flare, Aboreal Grazer, Bounce Lands, and Khalni Garden. Might be something to look in to

It would be cool to see some rakdos sac decks. Also, tower combos great with greef, kroxa and such
Flare of Cultivation might also be an ok card to run in Yawgmoth ;)
Dredge with Sticher's Supplier seems to be the way to go with Tower. Hypno Frog might might make the deck a bit more viable.
Yawg looks nutty with this. Wonder how pushed this will make the deck in the meta
Yawgmoth needs a high dense of creatures in the battlefield but the mana boost of tower makes the curve easier. Maybe running 1-2 would be good enough (its legendary and we saw this an many matchups)

Another black card that combos with Grief. Pitch cast Grief, then with the sac trigger on the stack, sac it to Tower, make BB and play some kind of nutty 2 drop. Bowmaster maybe?
Some kinda combo of Sorin with Children of Korlis would be siiiiiick

I saw Orim's Chant is in the set. So that means the Isochron Scepter prison combo is in Modern. It really does seem like Legacy-lite now

@@lambdaman256 True, but depending on the build, having two cards gives you an effective 8 copies, or you could run singletons of each (if you're tutor heavy for example). Chant is also appealing because it can stop aggro decks (but most decks should run SB artifact hate anyways). It's a nice card to put into a control toolbox and it'll be cool to see how the meta evolves (eg not having 50 copies of the exile incarnations in the deck)
I personally would have expected Professor to be an armpit enthusiat, myself.

Historic and Timeless players have had Phyrexian Tower on "early access" for 3 years. It's not played in Yawg that much but It Is occasionally played in Sac decks.
My favorite use Is by allowing T2 Sorin and then abusing It with Bloodghast

Sylvan Safekeeper + Cauldron seems great for protecting the combo from random removal, but I agree that Phyrexian Tower doesn't seem good as a 3-of. At most you're just ramping into a Sheoldred one turn earlier, and at worst it nonbos with Yawgmoth himself kind of hard.

If Tower is to be released in MH3, I have no doubt that Cauldron is going to take a hit to keep Yawgmoth in check.
On that note, having Tower would be interesting because it could potentially lead to Geralf's Messager coming back into favour.
