Hey P&J, Thanks fir your great vids. Question, Bird 3: If I'm using a 500 w, 36v Brushless controller, do I need a 36v display/throttle? TF-100, or LH-100? with usb, having a hard time finding which one.. Greg S. Lake Tahie, ca 🤙
Hey my Chinese e bike didn’t include a rear light/ red brake light at all, but it does have the switch for front and back light, which wire do I connect lights to in 48v controller thanks !!!😊😊😊
Does anyone know which forum(s) would be best to ask questions about repurposing/hacking hub motors (e.g. from e-scooters, hoverboards). For example I just took apart a "Scooter One 2020" to get the wheel motor and there was a controller similar-looking to the one in this video but I have some questions about how I could use the specific Scooter One controller (which has no text/label at all on the outside) and also some questions about using alternate power sources for the controller/motor combo (e.g. lead-acid battery stack, or high amp switching or linear supply). Repurposing could mean e.g. a motor for a drill press or perhaps cnc spindle for steel ('low' rpm), robotics actuator possibly with planetary, belt, capstan or strain wave reduction, or any project where I need something with a lot of torque at the rpm's these motors deliver. So...forums? I'm not new to building things/prototyping/electronics but am fairly new to the world of e-bikes, e-scooters, etc. and their innards. I've had this issue of finding forums with other projects like building a cnc machine and know I can join half a dozen forums and start shooting in the dark and eventually get a feel for which are best but it would be nice for a pointer if anyone has one, particular about forums to avoid that are not welcoming to non-experts. I'm familiar with eevblog and the arduino forums and a tiny bit familiar with ebikesforum.com.
500 W brushless controller is perfect ! I did have one hub motor go out on me, now it didn’t blow out or catch fire 🔥 Or anything like that, but there was a heavy amount of resistance in the back wheel.. Most of the time when this happens it’ll be your controller at fault, that being said I thought I blew out my 72 V controller... But in my case it was the hub motor that went dead. The coil got to hot and I guess it separated!
Hello my friend and professional ! 🙂I have a problem: I gave away the original controller for the Xiaomi 1S and installed a brusheless motor controller 24V/36V/48V 500W/750W current 26A and 48V 1000W aluminum motor. I opened the motor and looked at and counted the magnets, there are 30 magnets in the motor rim and 26 on the axle where the 5 Hall sensors are soldered. Ok, to my problem now: I installed everything and it works with the S866 Lcd Display Excellent! But !! If I stand on the scooter and drive away and press full throttle at about 5 km/h, then it drives up to 15-17 km/h and then the Gss goes out, so the engine is no longer running, so the BMS switches off! huh ?! But if I hit the gas slowly and faster up to about 30kmh then I can hit full throttle at 30kmh and it goes faster. OK. And if, for example, I get on my scooter and press the gas slowly and always press a little more, i.e. accelerate slowly and then at about 20 kmh then press full throttle, then it quickly drives up to 30kmh and the engine stops again and the gas doesn’t work anymore! So BMS switches off again!! But at home if I hold my engine up at the back and press full throttle it works!! Up to about 45-47kmh. And if I leave my apartment on the street and turn on the scooter and press full throttle then at about 12knh the engine shuts off and gas stops and at 5 kmh when it is down gas works again and if I immediately press full throttle again at 22kmh the engine stops and can no longer be switched on because the BMS is red! And it won't turn on anymore! Then I have to unscrew 5 screws on the front battery box on the street below and unplug the battery, wait 5 seconds, then the BMS is green again, then screw 5 screws again and drive on, but accelerate slowly! I still drive with the Stock Original battery: 36V + 7.5Ah. Is that not enough?? Yes, of couse! On Tuesday I get a new 12V 40Ah 40,000mAh additional battery for €280 German product! Then I drive in series to 48V + 48Ah!! But that with now that BMS always switch off when accelerating from 5kmh at 12-13kmh when I go full throttle!! Why is that please?! But when I'm not at the Scotter, full throttle works great at home without me! Can you PLEASE tell me why my BMS keeps turning off?! I PLEASE you! Help me with an answer why this is so. Or should I connect the 3 pin gas plug to the PAS 3 pin on the controller?? Kind regards. 🙂
I installed a 500 watt controller in my bird 3 and ur worked fine for a day. Now it runs great while up on the kickstand but whenever I put a load on it it shuts of after about 30-60 seconds. I've replaced the battery on it and still the same thing. Please help me if you know a solution.
Thank you - I was trying to figure out which one is for reverse but the black and gray wire. I would have to put a switch on that and then it would automatically know I’m in reverse??? I don’t wanna burn anything, so can somebody please confirm this? ….
Hello good day, I already purchased 500w controller same as yours but want some upgrade from 350w to 500w, but the problem is I cannot find the wire for the headlight and horn, can you help me please? Done checking this video and I also don't see the headlight and horn wire compared to its availability from the 350w controller.
I have a 24 V 350 W controller and I want to hook a light bar up to it an LED light bar what voltage light bar should I buy what does the DC24 Volt 350 W controller put out on the light circuit
amzn.to/3ZWgJq2 With your controller already be in 24 V you should be able to run this direct without a stepdown converter, or you could run it at 12 V using a step down converter 24 V stepdown 12 V..
What should I do if I don't have the little red wire in 3:04 how am I supposed to turn on the motor controller? And how am I supposed to know that I have turned it on? Thanks in advance.
OK so if your controller does not have the thin red ignition wire , then that’s OK ! In that case just connect the main positive and negative leads only. some controllers have ignition switch which is a third wire that has to be connected, and some don’t.. Connect your power tab to your controller , use a multi meter test one of the wire connectors on the controller it’s self.. such as Throttle connector .with a multi meter touch red red and black to black , now a voltage should appear should be less than 5v for the throttle.. but that’s OK that’s what it supposed to be at . This will indicate your controller is on/active
Sure ! Yes, almost all newer battery-powered lawn mowers have brushless motors. Brushless motors are more efficient, durable, and require less maintenance than traditional brushed motors. They also run longer, produce less heat
Typically you can buy a bundle, which includes a controller and a display kit together and on that display you can adjust all your settings. Just like you mention, you can view your voltage ,speed mileage, distance, etc
You can technically use a 500watt for the bird 2 scooter but the only thing is it ain’t gonna fit inside the case with the battery. The deck isn’t large enough. So your have to put it or stick it somewhere else. 500watts of power makes 350wAtts feel like a kids scooter
When you say you cannot get it to work again do you mean the controller stopped working while out riding your scooter/bike? I say this…. if everything is connected already and if you notice resistance in your motor then it’s safe to say your controller is blown. Probably a Mosfet but could be more than one! I would not waste my time replacing MOSFETs unless your using a expensive controller ! Then that be different i’d probably invest in finding that bad Mosfet and replacing it/them.
@P&J scooter mods I don't know how to wire it properly with the universal controller it's different than the original and there's no video on here that shows you how to either.
@@shantyfrancis9606 It should be as simple as connecting the 3 motor wires , your main power supply, and finally the throttle.. use your self study Wires if you have them and you will notice your motor start to spin on its own.. if it spins in the wrong direction disconnect yourself study wires and reconnect them until you know that your wheel is moving in the correct direction

Could just be at a cheap Controller honestly. I’ve had that issue before to. All of these are pretty cheap and basic Chinese brand controllers so it doesn’t surprise me to hear this. Also if you did a shunt mod to Your controller then that also could definitely be the issue.
I buy these controllers the way they are without modifying them. If I’m looking for any modifications I will go with something higher in amps instead of doing a shunt mud.

What about if i want to add brake light?

Thanks, but can you connect these controllers too wireless remote controller?
Brother if i run alternator as brushless motor ,can i use this controller without hall sensor ? 😊❤️ Plz reply bro 💯
