The only thing that really fucks with me in Balatro is discarding 5 fucking cards for 1 fucking card of a particular suit and the game just says fucks you all discards. And i know i can do math and figure out which card and suit is more likely to draw, BUT DUDE, IM STUPID.
i love that shit honestly, sometimes it really stings when you need like one card for a really simple hand and you just cannot get it but when it pays off it's the best feeling in the world. plus balatro runs are relatively short (or at least they feel short) so unless you fumble a once in a lifetime run it doesn't really feel like a huge waste

I had this with Luck is a Landlord, it took me a while to realize I wasn't having fun, because the synergies I was looking for at that time just don't show up, and by the time you realize the game wants another direction you've committed too much to the wrong things to correct.

@@FranXiTYeah, i remember getting lbal thinking it was the coolest thing ever... 8 hours later I was like wow too much of this game is rng and not enough is actually viable. Balatro seems like a game where any run can be a winning one, as long as you've got the strategic mind for it.

I've played way too much Balatro in too little time and I think you're onto something tbh. I think Balatro is most fun at the middle stakes because the low stakes are so easy it's kind of tough to lose if you know what you're doing, but the 2ish highest stakes are so hard you have to be lucky to even have a shot at winning. I've been grinding gold stake and I restart half my runs at the start of the 2nd ante because if you don't get a decent synergy by then you're kinda screwed.
I do think it's better than LBAL tho, middle stake gameplay is really enjoyable.
The facecam zoom was so unexpected I nearly jumped out of my chair.
The parasocial desire to be subjected to a chat audit but knowing you're too Type B to ever come close to provoking the egg's wrath.
But imagine the rant he'd go on if you pivoted to being Type A a week before getting audited. Just start backseating, give in to the darkness. It doesn't even have to be accurate backseating, 80% of Type A chatters on Twitch only know the game they're backseating through keeping streams of it on in the background.

I can only consume the balatro content after the Librarian chews it up, like a mother owl feeding her offspring. The gameplay talk on the background is just too grating for my white noise necessities.
As a chatter with type A tendencies, I realize NL just isn't that guy. It started with fall guys when he stopped being zany and experimental and it never came back
