『飛行機の話』（ヒコウキノハナシ、1932年）
作品仕様＝37分、白黒、サイレント
陸海軍の協力を得て、飛行機の浮揚する原理から、胴体や発動機の製造と組立の工程を解説した科学映画。吸入、圧縮、発火、排気の4行程による発動機の原理を説明し、飛行機の心臓部であることを強調している。参考文献によれば、オリジナルは3巻とのことから、現存は3巻目の途中までで、エンドが欠落していると思われる。
「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、日露戦争の記録、文部省が推進した科学やスポーツ、観光などを扱う教育映画、行政や企業による産業や地方振興のPR映画、皇室行事や軍事演習の記録など、題材も撮影場所も多彩な87作品を、初回分として一挙公開しています。今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。

This is one of the films featured on the website “Film IS a Document: NFAJ Historic Film Portal” (a joint project of the National Film Archive of Japan and the National Institute of Informatics) which streams a selection of titles from the NFAJ film collection with initial focus on cultural and documentary films.

The first edition of this site presents 87 titles featuring a variety of topics and shooting locations. The selection includes documentaries of the Russo-Japanese War, educational films focusing on science, sports and tourism produced by the Ministry of Education, industrial and regional promotional films produced by local governments and corporations, and rich footage of imperial events and military exercises. バルサ材を買って来てUコン機やラジコン機を作っていた身としては、機体製作のところを息を止めて見入ってしまいました。あの撮影現場にいて一緒に機体作りに参加したかったです。
すべてにおいて職人技という感じがする映像ですね。

ピストンリング、オイルリングなんか見ると90年ぐらい前から内燃機関の基本構は、変わってないって凄いですね。
第一次世界大戦で現在に繋がる基礎が確立されましたからね。コストの問題考えないなら第二次世界大戦までには内燃機関でできる事はほぼやりきってる感じはあります
