Dr. John, you are a gift, a blessing, a hero. I thank God for you. One day I wish to call in and get your help. I’m not there yet. I’m too scared. But let me tell you, I have so much appreciation and love for selfless people like you. What you do, what you say, is priceless. Thank you. Thanks you. Thank you.

I like how the last caller was understanding about his employee having Bipolar Disorder. It is unfortunate there is still a stigma about mental illness that causes some emoloyers to not want to hire an employee who has Bipolar Disorder.

To the caller who struggled with anger.. 1. try meditation. 2. Also, try changing your perspective by realizing life is short & it’s a waste of energy to be angry etc 3. Figure out your triggers and what you’re feeling. A feeling only lasts 90 sec the rest is just what you tell yourself & ego/price that you don’t want to let go. I could write a lotttt more but I think if you start there you will see progress.
I say this because I struggled with my emotions and handling it. I never saw a good way of handling emotions as a kid. I realized I did not want to be like that anymore & still have a lot of work to do. Basically.. I am just trying to say I am on the same journey myself & get it.

Employees with mental illness can be a legal challenge. Buddies and pals, until they sue you. Being a first employer for young people means that they won't have solid work behaviors yet. They don't know how to be with a boss. Dude, you need to be the boss, not the buddy. This will be important once you have to set limits and requirements. Don't party with your employees. You are entitled to expect the person to perform, even with accommodations via ADA. Get your local business association to explain this nightmare to you.

Small tasks and small goals for her as she is adjusting to her medication plus a very quiet workroom. It will take time for her to feel 100% again. Thank you for helping her help herself by providing her professional resources to assist her in her journey in living with Bipolar Disorder!!!

I absolutely disagree with first has to stop punching walls and then: it does not work like that. You can effortlessly stop
Ones you understand why u do it. And no! You cannot help it because ur emotions are simply too strong! It is like saying to a heroin addict to “just stop!!” 😂

Why not? He said it in front of the whole team, in front of the camera and he said it to his other colleague, too. To me, it came across as „you are awesome/looking good/you are so much appreciated“. But then again, I am no native speaker … Maybe I got it wrong. 🤔

It is very interesting to me how you feel about this and how different you interpret his words. I thought he wanted to be funny and say something nice. Again, maybe there is a language barrier or/and cultural differences. Although I want to agree that it is difficult or even inappropriate to compliment co-workers, even if the intensions are good.
