- Step by step guide with tips and tricks, detailing how I farm Loot Midgets using the Doctor's Orders quest in the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve.
INSTRUCTIONS: Once Wildlife Exploitation Preserve opens up make sure to accept the Doctor's Orders quest from Tannis in Sanctuary. IGNORE ALL THE MISSION PARAMETERS!! Do NOT pick up ANY of the mission items along the way. Once you get about halfway through WEP there's an option to enter the Creature Slaughter Dome. If that's not available to you then ask someone on the LFG sections of discord.gg/borderlands to help you by inviting you to their game to enter that area. Once you enter it on someone else's game it becomes available in your game as well. From this location you can quickly farm the midgets. BE SURE to eliminate all enemies in the area around the loot midget boxes (Leave no red dots on screen) so as to get the maximum number of midgets to spawn. ALSO be sure to NOT pick up the quest item in the second midget box. Once you complete the farm you can save and quit and redo it as much as you want!

Skull K3y I have been playing borderlands all my life, borderlands one being the first ever shooter game I’ve ever played. And yet I just found out you could simply save and quit multiple times until you get great weapons. This guy is definitely helpful

I remember in the wildlife preserve a loot engineer midget spawned and beat the shit out of me continuously for about 20 minutes (everytime I Re-spawned it was there and absolutely kicked my ass) I now hate these things with a passion

1 year later and I had something worse. Did the bridge skip in that one area and hit the checkpoint right next to the constructor then it killed me. It would proceed to one shot me after spawning for a total of 20 minutes due to its fire slam attack.
Yo, my friend found a shotgun in the most recent Reborn Patch and it’s called “The salmon” and it’s red text was “Don’t use it for cover”, and it has a high chance to reflect bullets :D

If people are looking for a fast loot midget farm that does not involve having to fight through enemies, I have an alternative. Pay the eridium to go to terramorphous. Leave back to Thousand cuts and open the two chests right in front of you. Save and quit then reload. Each time you restart you will be right by the two chests. Each run is super fast on pc. Sometimes you get two loot midgets, a lot of the time you get one. If it takes 7 minutes to do the AEP run for 4 loot midgets, my approach is better.

You can glitch under the map to get it but idk how
I've gone beneath the map, a la Joltz, after doing the loot midget run and found ammo and stuff down there. I wonder how many legendaries have ended up down there. All those dry runs 🤔

@@IDrag I saw it done in video by Joltzdude. I think it was on rocket jump farming wildlife exploitation loot midgets.
A few extra notes:
-Don't save while in the Annex, this will send you back to the start of the map.
-Although not picking up the notes is recommended, the one you should be careful with is the one where the midgets spawn, if you pick that one up, you will never get midgets from that box.
-(BL2 Spoilers) If you're entering the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve for the first time and you want to farm midgets, make sure that you make it all the way to where the midgets spawn, and do not open the door where Bloodwing is supposed to be, this way, you won't have to fight all of the other creatures in that area, also, when you reach this area you can now enter the annex, exit, and then save quit in order to appear at the door every time you load your game.
You can pick up the note in the midget room. I have been farming them after picking up the note
@@Jiggy113 yeah they can spawn from the other boxes but they would spawn from all the boxes before now you have one less midget per run
You missed the point that a slag note is in the second Box and you shouldn't hold your Button on the other boxes to get fresh on ammunition bc the Note would be grabbed too.
You can grab that note and it's fine. As long as you don't grab all of them the loot room will still be open. I usually end up picking that note up and it's never locked that room.
From my experience you take take that note, the room doesnt close and the spawns dont seem to be affected but if you take two notes you wont get as many midgets. But i would reccomend not taking the note just to be sure you get them.
If you dont get many drops in UVHM (unless in need of xp i dont farm them in normal and TVHM) from them try bringing a second player (friend or a seccond controller) and you should get more drops. As i said these are from my expeirences so sorry if these dont seem to work for you

I’ve farmed the midgets across most platforms for years and have never had an issue with the midgets not spawning after only killing the minimum amount of enemies.

There's now a new quicker method to farm Legendary Loot Midgets. With the Lillith DLC, accept the Space Cowboy mission, and literally right next to the Dahl Abandon fast travel is a little enemy camp. There is a toilet that is part of the mission, midgets spawn from that everytime, just don't pick up the mission item. It's a great easy farm while leveling up OP levels.

If youre interested on his smg and you dont already know its farmablw through bunker, theres a 3.33 percent drop rate and it is known for good stability and crit damage

Actually that save point remains there regardless if you save and quit. You won't be teleported to the beginning of the level.

I played on my on ps4 and I got 2 loot drops loot midget with first try soonest I hold square button grab the hole ammo and the dialog along with it welp r.i.p farming 2019-2019 I'm such a dumbass why did I do this to myself 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
You have to beat Bloodwing first and turn in the mission, before you do midget farming

And FYI, the cage opening part can only be triggered BEFORE the Bloodwing fight, as it is the part of the story mission. So you can totally do this before beating Bloodwing.

I have only gone and already done all the things I shouldn't have done in UVHM - collected all Skag samples. That rules out this particular route of farming midgets. My wife's profile is the same, but my son's is clean of this error - though he hasn't started UVHM yet. Hopefully, I remember to not make the same mistake when helping him through that side mission some months down the line...
You’re actually wrong K6. You CAN pick up the slag experiment notes, as long as the notes in that box aren’t picked up, it works. I always grab the other 3 and leave that one alone, and I can farm the 4 midgets everytime without issues.

I was farming that area about 2 days ago, and obtained a conference call and a storm front. Was lvl 19 stuff since it was on normal.

I'm relatively new to BL2, they don't seem to drop with my level 20-ish Salvador. Am I doing that farming run for nothing? But I got a legendary class mod for my normal mode Axton somewhere in the game. Maybe around level 30+

you can pick up the first slag note. no reason to, it just wont affect the midget spawns. definitely do not pick up the second one though

Man it is super easy to accidentally collect the slag experiment note if you hold to collect ammo from the ammo chest on the left of the boxes, even without opening the box. If you hear Jack talking to professor SAMMY then just dashboard out or you’ll cook this farm.

It still works in 2021. I did a little mistake and took the quest item in the box. They still spawn but only 3 of them. Anyway one of the best midget farms thx

Guys, you can pick up the first echo recorder for the doctor's orders mission. I accidentally picked it up but it still works, just make sure NOT to pick up the second one, the one in the box where the midgets spawn.

Remember to never ever hold your pickup button near that echo recorder there. It's very easy to accidentally pick up and ruin the spawn.

@@phonenixagaming3892 Honestly, if I get something really good and somehow pick up the echo, I'd rather gib the save to reset the quest. About the only thing I'll use the save editor for but I'm not replaying a mission over something that silly.
Thing is, you can pick up the one note which was in the room where the midgets are and you can still farm the midgets after save quitting. Because of you I did Alt F4 after i picked it up on accident the first time, and because of that I lost my perfect PBFG which I found just right before the midgets... so yeah don't turn in the mission, but it's ok to pick the notes up if you do.
I got so sad after I accidentally picked up the boy and I said f**k I just ruined it but thanks man hopefully I can farm theme

Quick tip do not press and hold sqaure to grab ammo cause it will pick up the mission item even if the box isn't open
Also for me I throw a shock tesla and lay into them with a shotgun after opening all 4

You have to angle it just right. It takes a bit of time to master it
I picked up one of the notes by mistake. It doesnt completely ruin the farm, but it does make only 3 loot midgets spawn instead of the usual 4. Still though, great for farming legendarys so thanks
You can use the save editor to erase the mission progress and get 4 again

@@rachelraitt2814 it's a program you can use to edit the save files. You can use it to give weapons and other items to your character. You can change the levels of your characters and their items. You can manipulate the game into thinking you have finished certain quests or reset the quest progress so you can do it again for higher lever rewards. You can only do this on pc but I believe there's ways to export pc saves to Xbox and PlayStation.

You can collect the first note and it will still work as long as you don’t pick up the one in the box.

Accidentally picked up one of the slag notes (the one from the box). Now only 3 of the 4 midgets spawn. Thankfully this is TVHM so all I need to do is go to UVHM... but it still stings

When you spawn outside of the Natural Selection Annex, if you run straight ahead to those 2 hyperion crates have a pretty decent chance of spawning loot midgets as well.

Actually, i accidentally picked the note in the box. BUT I still got all 4 for the next 30 minutes. I have found that you just don't want to complete the mission if that makes sense.
If 0/4 notes are collected you will get x4 midgets to spawn each time. If mission is partially completed their is a chance that you wont get all 4 boxs to spawn a midget.
@@Sweetguy1821 true, im just saying that after watching this and accidentally picking up a note I still got some. KillerSix makes it sound like if you pick up ONE you don't get any, so I just posted this because I doubt I was the only one that was panicking.

Very late but I can't believe I got what I was looking for a bone of the ancients from my first legendary loot midget it wasn't even from one of the boxes it was from one of those money boxes you showed thanks (even better it had bonus shock damage)
I was todays years old when i realised its Exploitation and NOT Exploration...
I was wondering about this because I didn't know if you could just simply save quit in the annex and farm them but this explains that I need the mission and just murder everything in my way

You should mention, if you have unlocked the pens, you can keep animal rights activated and you will only spawn one guy in the opening area if you don't go up the waterfall.
Use siren and phaselock to prevent the items falling through the floor.

Great video, dude. I didn't know about that save point. An additional note for the rest of you. If you want, in the room right outside the annex, before you go outside and up the waterfall, all of the yellow crates and lockers have a chance to spawn midgets as well. It means you'll have to fight a few more bots and three stalkers that spawn in the room, but it can be worth while. You don't need to go into the circular area past it, though. It's always best to go up the waterfall, because you'll get less enemies, plus Pimon and Tumbaa have a chance to spawn, if you're interested in more legendaries.
I had the worst luck with this, before I opened the boxes I checked the other ones for money and opened the yellow one next to the boxes, I hold square to pick up all the money but it included picking up the slag experiment even tho I wasnt that close to it😭
Jumping up the rocks to the waterfall always messes me up lol cant do it the first time so all of the skaggs, stalkers, and rakk attack me
I started a new character few days ago and got to farming this method, after like, 10 farms or something. the only thing I got was an emperor😭

These LLM's rock, roughly 2 hours of farming and managed to get a Baby Maker, a bunch of Bone of the Ancients, various other legendary weapons like the flacker, some legendary shotguns and a Cracked Sash at 1 second recharge

Update: maybe I am late on this, when a loot midget pops out of a loot source NEVER shoot it immediately until it lands on the ground because it will glitch out and the loot midget will be immune to all elements. I got overboard and slag a midget with a grog while it was airborne and havent landed on the ground, now the fucker wont get slagged at all. If this screw up happens you better have a corrosive Lyuda or Pimpernel.
Lol I was level 6 when I got my first legendary revolver I got it by opening those red crates that usually gives ammo Grey gun or money

You can complete the steps and still get the loot midgets. I completed the steps and still got them to spawn (just don't turn it in is all)
There is a way in frostburn canyon to spawm lootmidgets out of ammoboxes...i noticed in story when i was there ...i had multiple midgets on one run but i dont know if they go away when u continue the story

Idk why, but the box with the note now is always open so i only get 3 loot midgets per run TT_TT and I did not pick any notes, it's 0/4.
