Thanks for this lesson. I learned Guitar Boogie in 1956 when I was in High School. I am playing a little guitar now that I am 84. Helps with my arthritis. These variations are really neat !!!

Wow ! Thank you for a wealth of information right there. I was a member for I think near 8-10 years, I wasn’t able to get to the lessons so I put membership on delay , this lesson has me so anxious to get back in for part 2... it has so much to it that gives you top shelf sounding picking, even more it reveals how it works which carries over to any style ... crazy how one lesson speaks volumes to the understanding having seen others , this was a definite light bulb moment. Excited! Thank you again, my fingers were crossed the whole time you would make it back to E. I’ll BE BACK!

Good one! Thank you. Ya hear things like, The Blues is the father of Rock and Roll. I heard the great Allen Toussaint say that’s not quite right. The Blues is the Grandfather of Rock and Roll. Boogie Woogie is the Father of Rock and Roll.

Love your lessons Brian. I have subscriptions from several sites but yours I still use the most. Learning the compositions and test driving them with the jam tracks is so much fun. I usually start with your composition and then go off improvising on my own. Emulating the quality of your playing and bends has been a big takeaway in my improvement. I play Texas Shuffle and Dirty Blues regularly. I've been working with the Key To Highway Lesson as well as Chicago Blues, Country in C, and really enjoyed playing your Chromatic lesson. Please consider doing a Stormy Monday lesson and playing over the minor seventh movements. I love to jam that with friends and mix major and minor. The Key To The Highway ideas were great

Geez, Brian! I use alternate picking all the time, never really thought about it.
I have noticed that sometimes i will change and do an upstroke when i skip some if the higher strings, like to hit the G or D string.
I hope you didn't make me self conscious!
I'm SURE that i deviate sometimes from up, down, up, down.
I just do it. I don't (haven't so far) have a problem hitting the string i want or skipping strings. So far.... lol.
Great video! I love playing this stuff.

Brien, I gotta say. A little over a year I got tired of playing the same songs for decades. I've always wanted to play how I feel or some good sounding blues noodling.
I got a year subscription after trying Active Melody a month. This evening playing to E blues back tracks. I finally got a taste of putting some feeling into and carrying on a conversation with licks. I use to sound like practicing scales all over the fretboard. Different my girl said you don't sound like the same person. I thank you for that.

I forgot something a few months ago you had a lesson playing to a track you made. But you only wanted us students to only play in one area and only 4-5 note. I was always all over.
Maybe something like that in some acoustic blues sounds good.

Oh man Brian I know why I was confused now about seeing the chord shapes and crafting the licks. When you went from the A-shaped bar chord of the B down to the next shape up the fretboard, I thought it was supposed to be a C shaped bar chord. When I said, dummy caged, the next cord is a G shaped bar, chord, which I have never played before. Then I could see what you were trying to illustrate. I’m all good now and I feel better for stopping and figuring it out.
