I made a Lord of the Rings đ Halloween Castle đ MASSIVE Diorama | Warhammer Scenery Dol Guldur [1]

- What better way to celebrate the spookiest time of the year than with a massive diorama of the spookiest location in middle earth?

Today we begin the most mental speed-build Iâve ever attempted, as we create the Hill of Sorcery and fortress of Sauron the Necromancer, Dol Guldur. Weâre talking dark dungeons, a filthy ruined castle, enough rusty metal to need a daily tetanus shot, the biggest spiders youâve ever seen, undead wraiths who just donât die, and the spookiest villain of all, the NECROMANCER. We of course all know the iconic silhouette of Dol Guldur from the Hobbit trilogy but it actually plays host to a massive siege during the War of the Ring and as such weâre be building a huge layout to fully encapsulate the entire location in tabletop form, from the spider infested forests of Mirkwood, through the foundations of cliff and stone, right up to the towering heights of the fortress itself. Weâre going to need a lot of foam, a lot of plastic, and a lot of candy to get this done in a month. Halloween is coming to Middle Earth. If youâre pumped for spooky Sauron month, hit that subscribe button down below and strap in Zorptrons, weâre going to have some fun.

"To build the entire fortress at scale would end up being over 20 feet long"
When did Zorpazorp abandon madness for reason?
Hahahahahaha
@@Zorpazorp *Translate to english*
Your ability to cut seemingly straight lines with a razor FREEHAND is absolutely insane.
The trick is... not showing the complete fuck ups on camera.
Chronicle, I would love to see you create Rivendell - it's by far the most magical and beautiful set of all of Middle Earth.
Actually, i would love to see him build the entire middle earth. His work is masterpiece !
So much love for Rivendell!!
@@Zorpazorp Rivendell would certainly be an epic challenge.đ If you could build at life size scale we'd all be very greatful đ this is an epic build and a great video đ
I fully agree, I try to do some elvish architecture my self but I'm not as skilled as Zorp and any tips on how to get to it would be absolutely great ;)
How about you make helms deep so I have an idea on how to make mine
DUDE! I love how into the weeds you get on projects. This. Is. Amazing!
Hahahaha thanks brother
This build, and this video, has got to be one of my favorite things youâve ever made!!! Amazing work Lachie, canât wait to see it painted đ„đđ„đđ„
I love when my favorite CZcamsrs show up in the comments
Thanks Dana
Chronicle, I think it would be super amazing if you made Orthanc and Isengard a playable board with the ability to enter Orthanc. You do such a beautiful job with these scenery builds! Like siege of Isengard type deal.
I am absolutely awestruck. Every single step is a mini-tutorial in itself, from the initial concept planning to material choices, modularity design, adapting plastic kits, different methods to shape the foam and joining it all together. Terrain building from beginner to advanced.
Thank you so much Eddy! Yeah it was a journey haha, lots more to come too!
Chronicle, I'd love to see the black gates as a build, it would look amazing đ
Chronicle, I would love to see you making Dol Amroth. I think it'll be an experimentation on mixing Gondorian and Elven architecture that you would love. And as there's no movie referecnce for it, you can even go crazy with what to do with it.
Chronicle. The Blue Mountains where Thorin and Company settled after their defeat. Would be amazing to imagine a place: further West than the Shire and a thriving dwarven hold!
âChronicleâ this is beyond amazing.
Honestly, the level of detail and accuracy you make your terrain with is downright inspiring.
In a moment of sadness, I am reminded by you why I love this hobby. Thank you Zorpazorp.
Thank you mate :)
I'm so glad I could brighten your day J, remember that it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.
This is absolutely epic! I can only imagine the hand cramp from clipping out all those sprues!
Dude it hurttttttttttttttttttttttt
That's a beautiful work of art. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
You and me both Thomas!
Chronicle
"We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orcs, in the deep places of the world."
Moria warhammer quest style setup would be epic!
A couple of things here
1. You're absolutely mad, and I'm 100% here for it.
2. Chronicle! I would love to see what you would do with a Fangorn or Flooded Isengard board.
Chronicle, I Would like love to see you create part of the Fangorn Forest where the meeting of Ents (and Merry Pippin) is in progress.
Chronicle - For me, it is Rivendell/Imladris. The flow of the architecture in and around the cliffs with interspersing waterfalls that drop down to the river Bruinen below. How the walkways weave between the buildings and the arches meld seamlessly between structures, and the colors pulled directly from the forests beyond.
Y'know, I have never had any interest in the LotR game at all except for your videos, the enthusiasm and the care are just too infectious. Absolutely fantastic stuff :D
Chronicle.
Keen to see that deep chasm where Balrog and Gandalf duke it out.
Lachlan, these builds are amazing!
Thanks David!
CHRONICLE. I love to see a build of the town of Bree, including the Prancing Pony.
CHRONICLE - Definitely Thranduils Halls, far beyond my ability to create!
Chronicle - Caras Galadhon would be brilliant for a terrain setup.. Loads of verticality, walkways and sprawling greenery!
Chronicle. Zorpazorp, you absolute mad lad, you should build the Lonely Mountain, complete with the ruins of Dale and Ravenhill for a massive Battle of the Five Armies battle report đ
Chronicle.
As a personality favorite that fits this incredibly spooky theme. Iâd love to see Lochi go down down to Goblin Town!!
GW must love the work you do with their kit. As an AOS fan I am jealous of this kit.
CHRONICLE! I absolutely love the design of Gondor, both Osgiliath, Faramirs cave in Ithilien and of course, the great Minas Tirith. Middle Earth is so beautifully designed
Couldn't agree more! I've got a HEAP of gondor terrain in November to stay tuned :)
Chronicle!!! And if I had to pick one Middle Earth place to see as a table it's a full size Hobbiton. It always makes me feel warm and fuzzy when they show how comfortable and jolly everyone is.
No shenanigans happen in Hobbiton!! I would just play it as a lovely Sim City.
Chronicle. I'd love to see clash of Sharku's warg riders with Theoden, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and riders of Rohan that cover flee of Rohan refugees to Helm's Deep. Presenting exact moment of clash of two cavalry blocks is so powerful in the movie
Chronicle, RIVENDELL NEEDS UR LOVE ....NEEDS!!!!
Chronicle, I would love to see Mount Doom (with Lights and smoke effects!! duh!) together with Barad-Dur. I love you work so much, you are amazing!
Oh man, that sounds amazing! Surely Lachie has to tackle Barad-Dur at some point...right?!
Great suggestion! indeed and a tall order.... hehehehe
Boom !! back with middle earth . Great work lachie
Chronicle, the caverns of Isengard while being used by Saruman's orcs would be awesome!!
Chronicles, the Black Gates would be fabulous at a game table
Chronicle
I would love to see pre-Smaug Dale. Maybe not the most epic battleground imaginable, but certainly a different one with all the vibrant colors and usual liveliness on the streets.
Chronicle down below. Another great project! The stone carving in the courtyard is especially impressive!
Chronicle, the shire⊠I just love the whole feel of it.
Chronicle, at this point make a full middle earth, you're already making so much
Chronicle, The Mines of Moria!!!!! Specifically the Bahlrog part!
Hes gone mad with power like that Albert Schwartz guy.
Chronicle,
I know it's not going to be a popular choice, but I'd love to see a board representing the ruins of Dale. Even after so much time, the unique architecture of the town shows beautifully, and there is so much variety! It's not just a mass of crumbled walls, there's stairs, balconies, open squares and tight corridors. Such a rich enviroment.
Dale is an awesome choice mate!! Such a great aesthetic!
@@Zorpazorp Right? I feel it takes hints from Italian, Central European and Greek architecture and manages to make them work harmoniously. It is a bit of a shame there aren't many shots of it when it was still standing, but even in its abanoned state it's really splendid.
What a⊠Chronical!
I would love to see Smaugâs treasure room brought to life, mate. For LotR, D&D or 40K, it would be an amazing setting.
Chronicle, +1 for the Black Gate!
Chronicle - a 3D dwarrodelf board with Bridge of Khazad Dum would be pretty cool!
Chronicle - It's got to be Moria. The verticality as they explore for days would be dope!
Chronicle, RIvendell of course! The best set ever
CHRONICLE - I love to imagine the Realm of Nargothrond
Chronicle.
I have always loved the city of Umbar. True we ahve never seen it on screen, but the idea of a seaside city on a numenorean foundation, but expanded and rebuilt several times by gondor and the haradrim is alluring :)
Chronicle. there can only be one ultimate map, the lonely mountain and the great Dwarven kingdom of Erebor!
Chronicle. Iâd love to see an Ithilien board. Something with a slight slope, maybe incorporate similar features to the major locations within it - a tiered board illustrating the slope of the land down to the Anduin, a crossroads with a headless statue, the beginning of a certain menacing valley, an ambush point for the rangers of ithilien to waylay troops marching north along the road, and maybe a small hidden area as a ranger outpost. Add in some trees, lots of herbs, the odd ruin and coney (âŠEaster build?) and youâre Golden. đ
Chronicle, cause you can never have enough (concept) artbooks.
Minas Morgul looked really cool, would like to see that build
Chronicle! And I have yet to see a wargaming build do justice to any of the dwarf holds - I'd love to see Moria done properly or even Erebor.
Need some dwarven love here don't we!
I came for the cities of death but I stayed for this madness
Chronicle. I also agree with Rivendell as the best setting.
Chronicle! I'd like to see Isengard, complete with a full plumbing and drainage system that the Ents can flood it during games!
Chronicle, I was obsessed with all the shots featuring Dol Guldur and the Nazgul when The Hobbit came out and always wanted to have some SBG projects linked to it, even if only some converted models, this is insane and I'm just in love with it. I'ts my first time on your channel and Oh Boy it's not the last.
"I wanted precision cuts on my angles"
*slams foam with fist*
hehehehehehehehehehe someone got it haha
Chronicle. I'd love to see the shire! Lots of hobbit holes and a market would be adorable đ
Using a roller to give texture to foam saves you a lot of time. You can stick aluminium foil to it with hot glue, maybe a peace of course grit sand paper.
Chronicle, With the looming War in the North. It probably makes sense to work on the Lonely Mountain so we can see Erebors riches and the siege of the Easterlings.
Chronicle. Iâd like to see the improvised barricades at the gates of Erebor, where Thorin and company ânegotiatedâ terms with Laketown.
Chronicle, I'd love to see the tower of sorcery, Minis Morgul! Stunning work on this Dol Guldur build mate!
Chronicle! I would love to see the Erabor the lonely mountain! I love dwarvern design and all its intricacies!
Chronicle, for me... it has to be Moria / Khazad-dĂ»m! Canât wait to see the next instalment of this epic build!
Chronicle: I would love to see Gondolin or at least a partial gondolin as it is such an iconic Elven fortress!
Chronicle. And Alqualonde all the way - letâs see some Kinslaying action!
well the chronicle of this story... i dont know english eludes me sometimes, I just know it looks amazing
âThis will be placed in the Chronicles of Terrain building as a standout example of workmanship.â
One of these days I gotta try out one of these boards Lochi!
Chronicle! Black gates would be spectacular!
Chronicle, I think the ruins of AnnĂșminas would be interesting. The contrast between Gondor and Arnor could be explored architecturally speaking.
Chronicle, do the entire Imperial Palace. Please. I need this.
One day that will absolutely happen, but not until I have a new studio hahaha, that would be MASSIVE.
Chronicle, Rivendell would be an amazing massive level build, but on a smaller scale, I'd love to see the 3 petrified trolls in the woods turn into a playable terrain piece!
Both amazing suggestions!!
Chronicle -Agree I would love to see Rivendell
Chronicle, and without a doubt Amon Hen. The rangers are my favorite part of Two Towers (just started painting my battle company) and their hideout is such a cool location.
Chronicle, very inspiring build, the detailing is enough to send a dwarven prisoner insane!
Finally someone has finally done it i have been waiting like five years for someone to make it. And yeah 20 feet for real!
Chronicle, I think Isengard would be hella cool, Orcanth is one hell of a center piece
Chronicle, I would love to see you tackle the Prancing Pony! First place the Hobbits encounter my favorite character in the Lord of the Rings--Strider!
Chronicle. Black gate and scenario sould be sweet. One of your best videos yet. Keep it up!
Chronicle. I wouldnât mind seeing the Grey Havens.
Chronicle, and I personally would love a gnarled Mirkwood build
Chronicle, I think the Grey Havens would be an awesome challenge and a beautiful piece
Chronicle,
These builds are amazing. They fill me both with a desire to achieve such an amazing model and a massive inferiority complex caused by your amazing drive and skill that I likely will never achieve.
I would love to see a Rivendel build, although I am torn as Helm's Deep would also be so cool. Cheers, and keep them coming!
Chronicle! Man just so many options... a laketown build might be super fun!
Chronicle, I think Laketown would be an amazing build. Even though itâs not that exciting to begin with, I think that the fact thatâs itâs based over the water and itâs maze-like waterways would make it a very cool build
Chronicle, a Fangorn Forrest or Tom Bombadills house would be super cool.
Chronicle and since youâve done my favourite evil place here I can only think of recreating the last homely house east of the sea, Imladris, with the same attention to detail here. Couldnât be more psyched for the other videos Lachie!
Holy moly. Now that is AWESOME!
Glad you like it!
Insane build, Lachie!
Lothlorien. You build many fantastic stone structures. I feel something like that would be a challenge.
Chronicle. The tree houses of Lothlorien would be amazing to see!
Chronicle! I bet GW are always so excited to see what you do with their terrain kits.
Iâd love to see you tackle a Grey Havens harbour board. Forlindon? Harlindon? Maybe both! Go biiiiig
Chronicle - how about a huge Moria build that would allow for all the scenarios with the fellowship as well as Balin's expedition and the battle of Azanulbizar on the Eastern gate? Bonus points for including the endless stairs and Durin's tower!
Chronicle. I'd love to see you do a full Laketown board and stretch that kit to its absolute limits.
'CHRONICLE' I would like to see more of Laketown!
My God, what a legendary build!!!
Chronicle Rivendell for sure!!
Chronicle, I'd love to see anything Dwarf related! either Ironhills or Khazad dum
Chronicle. It must be Rivendell with the absolutely gorgeous details and the amazing surroudings ⊠Lachie, you truely are the wizard of terrain building !! Absolutely gorgeous !!
Thank you Michel! đ Yeah Rivendell is a biggggg goal of mine but I'm terrified haha
@@Zorpazorp if anyone can do it, you can. Its just amazing what you create! Just love it and to be honest.. watching all the terrain videoos multiple times, So keep amazing your fans ..
