There are two things in this ending that make it such an outstanding masterpiece: 1. The last lines of dialogue, after the games logo went on screen, which is usually only done when a game has ended for good, so it seems like like they're recorded "off the camere" they're not only bantered between Geralt and Regis, but also directly aimed at the player who with the books and the videogames has lived through quite some lows and highs alongside or with Geralt. It's not only masterlevel storytelling and character development / writing, it's also master level direction work. And it all comes together so naturally and calm that it doesn't seem forced, completely authentic. 2. The courage of CD Projekt Red to end it once and for all here, since with that dialogue they also kinda said: "Ok, that's it, we've told so many things about and with Geralt, have let the player experienced so much adventures, anything from out here further on would be a stretch and watering down the experience and the creative process." And a developer aknowledging this circumstances and having the courage of cut it, despise it still could make them so much money is something not many developers have the guts to anymore these days.
