  • Lots of flavors. Sometimes a bit harsh. Compared it to the 21.

I have not tried the Glencadam 21, but I enjoy the 15 a lot... It's just impossible to find now, however the Glencadam 10 is one of my favorite daily sippers so much so that it doesn't last more than two or three weeks if I happen to have a bottle... I keep on reaching for it if I have it. Shhhh! Don't tell anyone about the Glencadam 10...

I love the Glencadam 15 and it was, for a few years, a little secret for a happy few like Reb and myself. They stopped production not long before Ralfy shared his opinion about it and it flew off the shelves. Seeing as how you're not so keen I would let it oxidise for a bit. It's one of the saddest things in life - whisky tastes better and better when the fill level goes down. It now costs about £58 a bottle in the U.K.

Thanks Welsh. I look forward to coming back to it on a few rematches. It has been open many months now and does still have a few harsh edges. A good one though. This bottle...

Yes Welsh, I also would rather have kept it a secret !!! Ha Ha! As soon as the word gets out and the expression becomes popular, so the price shoots up and the quality goes down!

    Sharp corners????
I love the craigellachie 13 but for me, the Glencadam 15 is my favourite maninland Highland single malt. bar none. I even prefer the 15 YO over the 21 YO.
I would really like to know whuch batch your bottle is from?
They stopped producing the 15 YO for 2 years whilst they replendished stocks. They had the 13 YO as a stop gap. From the beginning of 2019 the 15 YO was back on the shelves again. However, here in Israel, we still have some old stock left from 2014/2015! It is this older stock which I reviewed. Perhaps the new stock is not as good?
From my memory, off the top of my head, I recall flavour notes of shortbread cake, Oranges. Glazed Oranges. Chocolate oranges, honey, vanilla cream filling biscuits. Barley cereal "Sugar Puffs", a green Chardonnay white wine.
Don't complain about the price !!! It is 400 Shekels here in Israel (£90 or US$115). The 21 YO is 900 Shekels, £200, US$258).

Hi Reb, I thought you might pop up in this one. I'm in agreement. There are times when I just love the 21 but I enjoy the 15 as much and it's cheaper. I love the oak in the 15 which has been aged out by the time it's become 21 years old. I have a unopened new bottle and an open old one purchased a couple of years ago so I might do a side by side. I have a good feeling about Glencadam and I'm betting that it will be as good.

Hi Welsh. You are of course correct. The video did catch my eye.
I sample so many whiskies from so many distilleries and have drank some really expensive ones in my time, but there are certain single malts that I keep going back to. Glencadam 15 is one of them. Also Kilchoman 100% Islay, Caol Ila 12 and 18, Old Ballantruan 10 and Deanston 12/ and 18.

Reb, I did a side by side and I think the new bottle is as good as the old ones. Maybe it's just not Phil and Deepa's cup of tea. We don't all have to like the same things equally. I always have it on my shelf too. The old Balblair 1997 was right up my street as well. Still got one stashed away.

UK prices. GC15 £58, GC21 £96. Not quite twice the cost but nearing it. I finished my GC15 a couple of months back. I really enjoyed it. Mine was a 2014 bottling. The last few drams out of it were fantastic. I think you will find the same once it’s fully oxidised. My bottle was open for about 4 months. Slainte 🥃

Hi mendip Fox. I suspect that the newer batches are not as good as the older batches. See ,my comment above.

Have one of these that am slowly making my way through. It is good but for me I prefer the 10 year. The younger one is more spirit driven with lots of tropical fruits and is a good price depending on where you buy it. Cheers

Great video guys! 😄 This is one I recall liking a lot, but I honestly do wonder if some of that is Ralfy’s stamp of approval working on me subconsciously. Obviously, that’s why your blind testing is so good. 😃
Since the 15 was discontinued, I haven’t gone back to it much. I’ll have to give it another go soon to see how I like it; especially now that it’s released again. Although I haven’t yet seen it on our shores. Back when I got my bottles, they were in the $75-$80 range from what I recall...and that may have been w/ abt $10 for shipping.
If it turns out your bottle is from the re-launched 15 like Reb mentioned, I’d be happy to send you a sample for a side by side. 😄

Captain 3D went back to my open one. Still love it 😄. It’s funny though, it didn’t taste really at all like the Glen Scotia ex-bourbon samples I had from the warehouse tasting...but it did kind of evoke the same surprised reaction in me. I’ve very much been enjoying wine/sherry matured/finished whiskies, but Glen Scotia kind of turned me around a bit. I think it’s time to re-explore a lot of ex-bourbon whiskies now. 😄
