These guys make some amazing music.
The animals are just a title. They have previous titles for other songs that are just sentences that have no correlation to the song. Nothing meaningful to each of these songs on this album. The album as a whole is about relationships. Every track is worthy of a listen. Hope you can do a few more. Pick an animal... any animal. For anyone else’s pleasure... 2018 was the 10 year anniversary of this album and they did the entire thing acoustically with some orchestral accompaniment. They’re fantastic to sip some whiskey to. 😉
The Tetris reference had us chuckling.

If you liked this song the whole album is amazing. Also their album befire this is a little but more messy and you can really hear how they young they are from their voices. Great other songs from other albums are 26 is dancier, japanese ultra violence, or if i sit still maybe ill get out of here. Absoutley love youre the first reaction to ttng and you guys did circa survive too! Other bands i think you would like is : jank, chiodos, clever girl, the fall of troy (they are not all math core).

I felt this group needed some CZcams reaction love. I love all of their material. Especially the songs you mentioned. Raw TTNG was still great TTNG. Justin did them justice and I’ll forever grateful. Surprised by the lack of love they’ve received so far but I know they are a worthy band. How did you like the 10 Year Anniversary acoustic redux of Animals? I can’t believe how different yet how amazing it is!! The added orchestrated music just adds so much!

You would probably like the band "Toe" which is part of the Japanese wave, the live version of the song "goodbye" is insane. The studio version is good as well man. Nothing but love for the john Coltrane in the begging. If you enjoy rap and hip hop, the song "Mood Swings" by "Asheru blue black and the unspoken heard" sampled it well. Asheru who is the rapper is actually a hip hop ambassador now XD

One last share about this band I do indeed hold in very high regard, they were arrested and detained along with another band in China. It was a months-long litigation and diplomacy that kept the bands from being charged with working in China without the correct working papers. They could have received multiple years in a Chinese prison. They had visas with attached documents that were supposed to be sufficient enough to “work” in the Republic. The shitty part was they were at the end of their tour in Asia and had already played multiple venues there. The authorities waited to grab them right up until their last show.
This happened just a few years ago but was made to become a huge lesson for acts playing in this country going forward.

Yeah it was. I remember hearing about it when they were in the middle of the fight to stay out of prison. I was worried what was going to happen to them. They are (as you can tell) one of my favorite bands.
More ttngs !!! Gibbon is a really good song I'd recommend pig baboon.

Just an FYI! The song names have nothing to do with their meaning. Supposedly they had created the entire album and were recording it. They couldn't decide on names so they ended up picking random animals and naming the songs after that, hence the album title "Animals".
I mean, they say that but songs like "Dog" and "Rabbit" really do give you that impression if you listen to the lyrics. "Dog"s lyrics concern pursuing someone romantically, "dogged" is another word for relentlessly perusing someone, "Lately I've been watching you, and I've memorised every last line of your profile". Rabbit's lyrics concern a couple that is avoiding their relationship issues via sex "the covers hide away all our mistakes", Rabbits tend to fuck a lot.
10 y old Laphroaig? Some parts of the vocals were not really made to enjoy me but all in all I liked the song especially the drumming that sounds to come more out of the wrist than out of the shoulder as it should be for that kind of music.
"The guitar has a jazzy almost twang to it [...]" Well I'd assume so, I've seen TTNG four times and never seen Tim play anything that isn't a Telecaster.

I’ll be honest, I’m sort of shocked that this is getting the response it is getting from the JustJP crowd. Never thought the pace would be the issue. 🤔 There are transitions and tempo changes in the entire song. I guess it’s not for all folks, but that’s fine.
Pig is a beaut... I’ll defend it to the death and in fact know an actual anxious person that finds their music soothing. 😜
They also have more than two tracks. 😏

Not an instant hit with me but not dismissed either. I think I kinda liked it and agree there is talent here but I'm not sure it grabbed me enough to seek more.

Nice easy jazzy listen. Maybe a little too low key for my progressive rock tastes; I need more energy and melody.
Chinchillas. In the eighties I remember seeing Infomercials late at night about how to make money by raising chinchillas.
Apparently their fur was quite valuable. Always seemed cruel to me, as a certified animal lover. This may have been a tipping point in the anti fur movement that sprung up shortly after (which became a little too radical for me....ie, throwing blood on fur wearers). Maybe I should rethink keeping my collection of leather motorcycle jackets....🤔...sorry 🐄....your skin is just too 😎.

Hey ! This wasn't bad at all... Weird, of course, in the vibe of all those musicians trying to use instruments in a new way (real instruments). It's a little shame that I could'nt catch any word of the lyrics during the listening.

In regards to the name. They chose the name This Town Needs Guns in 2004 ironically because guns were almost nonexistent in their hometown in England. They weren’t advocating for guns then or ever but did realize years later that they felt the irony was lost with the extensive horrific gun-related events and wanted to get away from the unintended backlash.
Hope that doesn’t sway your opinion of these fantastic musicians. 😉

I think I would have preferred you to review that jazz you started off with! This song wasn't bad, but it would have been better with a straight drum beat. Drummers, your job is to lay down the beat that holds the song together, not act as a virtuoso instrument ALL THE DAMN TIME.
Of course your opinion is your own and nobody can take that away from you. If you think it’s ok or not, so be it that’s cool. I just don’t get your drumming comment. Especially if you say you would have preferred the Jazz piece over Chinchilla. We’ll have you listened to a lot of jazz? Cause your comment is like the antithesis of most jazz pieces. 🤷🏻♂️
