SIS, I have such a struggle with this myself. The more the days go by I realize this is a mental illness that I try but do not really control. I am in recovery from addiction for the past 28 years and have been an Iyanla fan the entire time. I have worked out many things on my journey, but not this. I have very good supports in place, have joined a messies anonymous group, that helped, got great reading resources. Joined Renton Clutter Busters at the Sr. Center, many of them were clearing out after the death of a parent or spouse. Again, great reading materials were shared and I have used them all from Kimi Condo, to Peter Walsh, to Dorothy Breininger on Hoarders (she is super sweet and also online) .... I realize I have ADHD and my clutter is not filth, I just have lots of stuff for crafting and Christmas and I have many collections. Like books, office supplies, pens, stickers and albums. What turns me on don't turn everybody on. Then there is the part about how I do not want many folks at my house, especially men. My mom died in January and i am realizing it has escalated during the pandemic. I did what I had to do to get her hospital bed in and out. To have Christmas in her bedroom last year and to survive hospice. I love these two books though "So I am not lazy, stupid or crazy?" which is great because you can just go to a specific chapter or topic that relates to your dilemma. Also, SHED your Stuff, Change YOur Life" Julie Morgenstern. THis one really gets to the emotional reasons why I collect things and build up things. This one connects to more of the journaling and personal work that I do with Iyanla's coaching. Either way, God has provided me with some great reads and I am a free, independent black woman who has a warm place to live and create. God has blessed me with this pandemic time to work on facing the rough spots and focusing on my prayer and meditation, as well as my son. And...the ability to work from home.
