Wes Kremer is your favourite skateboarder’s ACTUAL favourite skateboarder: an offline enigma who manages to be both one of the world’s most highly- rated and least visible pro’s at the same time. One of the purest souls in skateboarding, the San Diego native and former Thrasher Magazine Skater Of The Year might be expected to chase the benefits of the attention economy.
Instead, Wes does not exist on social media at all- preferring to live a life of relative anonymity committed to the tour van and the everyman aspect of skateboarding life. The most elusive skate hero of the digital age, Madars sets out to discover how Wes juggles sponsorship responsibilities with a skateboarding career devoted to avoiding any unnecessary limelight. Join Madars as he kicks it with the unique Wes Kremer!

Ask Madarse what kind of pants he was rocking in the beginning them shits fire
When can we expect season 4? Absolutely love this series! ❤Madars brings out true authenticity of skateboarding in this show 🙌
So good 👍 ❤😂🎉
Wes is a unique soul, support him, buy his products, he deserves it.
He's a real one!
One of the best!
if i live in san diego... beach... i will stop to lose time in internet.
Bro…
Wes, Joslin, and Raybourn are my dudes! So real it’s undeniable
that gap to curb stall was so sick.
Wayne killed it!

Yea that was insane
@@shedshow1439 it sucked balls
Wes is my best friend! Doing this was a big pleasure and thank you to the G for a glimpse of his wisdom! ❤ the best

Dude He facetimed me from my friend Tomo in Japan's phone when I was on lunch two weeks ago. I was like ohhhhh shoot. He's chill af.
Is this really you Madars? If so you RIPP Bro!
Rad Madars .. cheers dude
Props to Wes for not taking the bait. Social media is all about what you're doing and what you have. He's all about the moment.
Wes is ahead of the curve with no social media, rare breed now a days
yea its incredible how does he do it
To be honest the only reason he can exist in skating today is because everybody does all the posting for him.
@@Hack_The_Planet_if the subject is bright enough there will always be photographers who want to capture it...
I'm on my 3'rd year without social media, watching some yt vids on my pc, thats all. Feels good, but I'm still sitting alone in the lunchroom at work because everybode else is deep diving on their phones xD
@@gundrzn for sure. Even without social media people are addicted to news feeds, you tube, email all of it. I still use my phone a lot but try to minimize social media, but do enjoy the skate content on there. I hve zero time for people posting shameless selfies though and unfollow if that happens.
Much respect to Wes for having the conviction to go completely cold turkey
I walked up to wes and evan smith at cph open last summer in June. I said that I was really excited to watch them skate, and wes looked at me and said "likewise man". What a nice guy, and a genuine interaction.
im sure you did
@@nrxhavocgot em
Thank you Redbull Skateboarding for doing this! Wes Kremer and Sk8Mafia are real OGs for eternity.
Yeww! Wes and Sk8Mafia are the realest!
Goes from who gives a shit about what "Car's Wheels" to way out Wes. Ain't that some shit..
Such an awesome statement he makes: "I just don't want to be on my phone that much"
Spoken like an OG skater!
It is superior to most human interaction though... So that's a good use for it.
It's so stupid that people are so obsessed with social media that he has to explain himself as to why he's not doing it
But it does make it hard for companies to promote him and sponsor him. I get what you mean but you got to go where the people are mane.
@@tracphonevirtualmagazine I mean not really, he's doing his thing and his sponsors are supporting him. While the whole industry is shifting towards valuing someones social media presence over actual skateboarding he's just skating and people still seem to like him and what he does so maybe it's not all that important after all. There will always be hundreds of guys who do everything "you're supposed to do" and they just end up being copies of one another, Wes is just being his authentic self and I think most people like him even more for it.
@@TheGhostOfFredZeppelin okay but nobody is buying magazines as much as before. Nobodies buying DVDs and Blu Ray as much as before. I hear what you mean but at the same time Wes is already sponsored and lives in the heart of skating. San Diego. If you were in the Midwest it would be very difficult to get exposure and social media helps bridge gap between the haves and have nots. If you're not trying to make a living in skating or you're not trying to be sponsored then you're right you really don't need to be tapped in on social media.
@@tracphonevirtualmagazine Oh for sure it's harder to come up without social media and the guys who have already established themselves don't really need to have a presence, but I guess it also has to do with the audience. I had just started skating when videos still came out on VHS and the content mania didn't really exist until instagram became big, it has its pros and its cons but personally I don't really care too much for it.
What's worst, being stoned most of your adult days or making a living off social media, which he could of quite easily.
Wes is such a nice dude
so true!
What a beautiful portrait of San Diego life and culture. I thank God every day that I live here. Wes is a real one, keep ripping!
Underrated comment
damn, a new respect for this dude. It's a 2-hour drive for me to get those magazines.
12:45 "Eh...diarrhea". As a 49-year old man who still digs skateboarding since 1985 - I feel you. I'm so glad I discovered Wes Kremer because he is inspiring.
I met Wes years ago when I was working a godawful job at one of the rich people malls in San Diego. Such a chill, nice guy...generous and kind. I'm too old and broken to skate, but I wanna go buy his board anyways
Nonsense, I'm 40 and recovering from a ruptured patella tendon surgery. Can't wait to get back.
I’m 38. Grew up watching Wes. This was incredible!
wayne's ollie axle over the gap was sickkkkk
A lot of people are choosing to not participate in social media...I hope it continues catching on.
The experiment needs to come to an end. These poor youth are wasting all their valuable years.
@@chiefkirby9982💯
Yea but that's just going to mean even fewer intelligent and sensible people sharing their opinions here. It'll be only the broken and the damned.
@@Plslevmelone like the worst bar in the world lol
Im only 2 years older than this dude and i havent resonated with anyone this much ever. Its like hes my long lost brother
Wes is such a gem. Pleasure to watch and listen to.
One of the nicest dudes around!
I was never a fan of SM, but I'm glad I gave this a watch... one can really appreciate the lifestyle Wes lives.
why ?
Yo! We were Wes's first sponsor here in San Diego! We signed him to AIRMERICA at age 12. So proud of you Wes!!
The colours in this video are incredible, beautiful skating & filming to match!
Just missing kellen James and larell grey and this would be like an old school SM edit
been waiting for a new season I give thanks to everyone that made this possible. Wes Kremer is an unbelievable skilled skater love this episode
Hyped you are stoked on this episode!
There are 2 more episodes on Red Bull TV: win.gs/3qsOZNC
@@RedBullSkateboarding yeah I remembered after watching this that you release earlier on your website, I watched episode 2 think it was incredible saving episode 3 for later tonight very excited about it.
🎉🎉🎉
that's why we all love Wes, social media is a brain killer. keep your self in the real world baby
Words of wisdom right there “living in a world of, look what I’m doing and your not, it’s a popularity contest “ 💯🤙🏻
This guy has life figured out. All the new stuff IS BS and social media is a horrible thing ! I think this guy just became my favorite skater, and he absolutely killed that little park near the end of the video. Life isn't about who is the most popular, does the coolest things, goes to whatever places, and has whatever things. We could all take a lesson from him because he IS just living his life how he wants which is Awesome !
Social Media is awesome.
100%
you mean social media you are using right now writing this comment ?
This is an absolute masterpiece, or better yet, a Madars-piece. Wes embodies the undiluted spirit of skating and its SD roots like no else today. Skating badly needs less wack and way more Wes.
'Less wack, more Wes' needs t shirting!
@@mattnewfoxred Yes!
A masterpiece? Lol my god
The way he just rode over that one rock imparticular like it was a damn speed bump was one of my favorite parts. You guys are all so inspiring! I miss skating!
14:29
Was smooth
So go buy a board. You don't have to jump down stairsets to have fun. I'm actually kinda liking freestyle and that's very friendly to the old heads. I was skating 3hrs a day for 6 months straight and I turn 41 in a few months. You can do it.
@@Plslevmelone That's right! I was skating with my 13 year old! Definitely not hitting rails or super crazy stuff! Just a lot of flat land tricks and some skate parks but I got injured at work two type four fractures and a torn ulnar and radial ligaments. I just had my second surgery on the 8th! I've been out of commission for a year now.
@@onewickedvision7891 ouch, well I hope you have a speedy recovery. I'm intimately familiar with that process and it's not fun.
So many people fake their lifestyle over social media when in reality it is not like that.. The 90s early 2000s was definitely a great time to be alive! 🍻
my dawg! Wes is the most authentic person anyone will ever meet! LEGEND!
I actually met him once at a bar in SD at a video premier in 2016 (PUBLIC LO MAINE) there was a bunch of peeps there actually/when I was leaving the bar (brewed up haha) I asked 4 a pic and he was like hell yeah g I was hyped af!!! FUCK YEAH!!! good times!!
I´m lucky to have spent some time around Wes during his trips in Madrid and he´s a great guy. Funny, generous and always a good conversation.
RESPETO MÁXIMO
Keep doing what you want!
"You see a set of people just getting locked in checking the feed, Its too much, just in be in the moment " respect
Wes will never even see this , too real
I agree with most of what Wes said and seeing this makes me miss SD a lot.
Last of a dying breed of human. Got so much respect for this dude in general.
"three lefts make a right, and you're right back on track" i love that
Inspiring. Not many skaters in the West are like this; especially in California where digital is everything. I commend Wes for his wisdom and insights. Especially where he highlights the fact that Instagram is endless and can suck a lot of time and energy whereas a magazine is actually good for you and has a certain level of content. Maybe analog is the future lol.....
Reminds me of everything before smart phones. 👍👍
This gives me hope. Thank you Wes and Madarse for making this film.
I love Wes's outlook on life, it's refreshing.
Btw, the filming and editing on this video are A+!
Wes take on social media is so real, I hope to see an interview of him, mad Respect!
Yeah go Wes, hes one of the best. Wish DC would of kept it going with him, been a fan since his DC shoes Skateboarding is Forever part. Keep the footage flowing Wes, always makes me want to skate!
Wes footy always gets us hyped to go out and skate!
Had the pleasure to watch both these skaters in person at a DC demo here in NZ 2013
Really enjoyed this! Love videos where it just feels like your apart of the group, especially one with madars and Wes.
The wisdom he has is amazing, he's always been a favorite of mine he's a goat. 🤘❤️
I can respect that he doesn't want to spend that much time on his phone. That resonates with me.
One of the most down to earth folks. So glad im watching this . Thx duuuz
Inspiring video. "Imagination is Creation..." Honored seeing you stay true to a quality way of life, Wes. Peace, bro.

Quality, simple but true. My parents had Volvos growing up too.
That ollie to 50 wayne did was fukn nutty
Wayne is the man!
This made me genuinely smile for the first time in a while. Keep doing you Wes
The more i learn about him the more impressed i become. More trips with him and Evan Smith!!!!!!!
Thank you for using Madars for these. Love his energy so much and his love for what we do
wes is the man, i’ve been waiting for something like this🙌🏽
The Mafia keeping the culture's spirit and soul thriving and alive, much love to all the sons and the daughters supporting the essence.
Cha! Cha!
This was great to watch. Wes is one of my all time favorite skaters. He's a real one.
Kremer keeps me smiling... Grateful he made his life something I can enjoy
I saw Wes hanging around in Palermo (Buenos Aires) a few months ago, he was so chill hanging around with some local skaters
He is the dude personified I’m so glad there’s heads like him still in the world respect!!! From the uk
wes you are as real as they come, my phone and board got taken away in a fight on a trip in new york last week and i havent had a phone since and life has not been the same. having no phone is a must if you truly want to live life, god bless big homie WES!
Wes is so nice with it! hope he doesnt fade away . RESPECT
Good to see someone who’s got it, or rather always had it, figured out
That fs flip off the kicker was monstrous.
As a 20 yo born in 02 I understand what he means seeing people locked in social media and people not living in the moment and posting clip after clip of just getting it. I wanna say about 2 years ago was when I was conscious of the fact that I had urges to post clips or photos you know, my generation grew up with having a device and it sucks that most of us are unconscious about that thought, it’s like some sort of addiction I was stuck in, a habit but lucky enough for me I was able to get outta that trap/ mindset. Its honestly hard to break free of having to share your life on the media when in reality most of it just doesn’t matter and living in present moment feels pure. I thought to myself am I skating for others and instagram or am I doing this for myself and the answer was clear from then on. Wes has a great soul
Cali vibes. People are enjoying the weather. People are trying to get along. So nice.
Incredible video. Thank you for putting this out there
Still my favorite skater since 2009
Grew up skating in the 80's, got to meet Hawk, Lucero, Caballero, Rogowski and others since we had a half pipe in our backyard and there were a couple other on my block. So cool to see someone these days not on social media, never heard of Wes but I am a Fan! Keep it real Wes.
Saw wes in Milton Keynes in 2016 for the DC European tour
Smoked a joint with me and my friend signed my hat big love to this guy
Very refreshing to know there are still core skaters like Wes out there.
Loved this!! And love my dude Wes and the sk8mafia crew. Everything about this. PD x SD forever!
Wes and Sk8mafia held it down!
Love this guy. Authenticity at its greatest.
"A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything." Malcom X Keep it real!
I love the way you filmed and edited this bro
It was 2011 when I first knew about Sk8mafia and Wes, and I quickly became obsessed with him and the brand. I remember his video part from the 2012 movie, that was epic. To me he’s a living legend and still one of my favorite skateboarders.
This was great. Much needed hes too off the radar haha 🔥🔥
This is so inspiring. Thank you
Needed this today.
i met him at my crappy local on my birthday dude opened up so many eyes with potential at the place
I met Wes and other sk8mafia dudes at the cardiff 9 set while I was visiting my dad at 11-12 years old (I lived in FL w/ my mom). They were all super nice and hyped me up when I was trying to ollie the 9. I'm in the background in one of their older videos at that set. Stoked for wes!!
love it. it a world where everyone wants attention online, it's nice when someone is great but doesn't want/need the praise
Best of the best. Protect this man at all costs.
Just love him. Thank you for this.
When you are that prolific at skating people will film you and post you. In fact, if more people were as singularly focused as Wes there would be a larger demand for filmers and photogs. They get paid, sponsors are happy so Wes gets paid. Win-win-win. Dude is my new favorite Luddite. And he didn't even mention how the "feed" (social media) is actually destroying the world politically. Likely because he doesn't care because its not about skating or being with the homies. My man.
who is second best luddite?

The GOAT
like his attitude in life, really miss the analog life and the analog frienship and most of all, the analog skateboarding lifestyle
That was awesome. I felt really good after watching that. Lovely to see Lil B too all grown up lol! Brought me back to simpler times!
SOTY , the Legend 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪❤
I grew up skateboarding with Wes and the Sun Diego days even before Skate Mafia. I used to stay with him at his house, Shred the streets of SD with the crew late at night, he has always been this way, and glad he never changed. Much love WES, I doubt he will see this... - Matt Dryer
I need more shows where the host can actually skate
Met Wes at Texas Skate Jam 2014 and to this day he’s one of if not the coolest and most kind pros I’ve met in skateboarding.
Yes on Wes ❤️🔥
One of my favorite series and what a great dude🔥
One of the dopest skateboarders! #livinglegend #respect #salute
Legend in the making.
I like how no one is talking how he just trolled us all at the end. 😅
This was genuine and heartwarming to watch. Thanks for making it. It actually felt like the good old days, just the whole vibe, it was great.
Social media is poison and we should all stop using it.
