First of all the cost of living in Dallas Texas looks affordable at first with big homes and no state income tax BUT the Texas Property Taxes are OUTRAGEOUS and can be enough to make you want to sell your house and leave Texas altogether.

Thank you so much for this info. We're thinking about moving from OK to the Argyle area where our daughter moved last year. Our biggest issue is our 300k home in OK would cost about 500k there. ugh

Stuck on their high horse about cultural change? Really? Look what happened to Austin. People from California ruined that place!
I understand that Austin isn’t the town it used to be. Are you 100% certain it was people from other states that caused that? Respectfully, I think there were many reasons for the change in Austin, not just those that relocated there.
@@movingtodallastxLived there for many years. I watched first hand that place going down the toilet. It most definitely is mostly from people from California. I've worked with several CA transplants and they hated CA and the politics...yet they vote for the politicians with the same polices as in CA. Then they complain about high property taxes, homelessness and illegals. Downtown is flooded with extreme Lefties. Bartenders would tell me they had to drive out the hipsters because they were ruining business...but then they came back. BTW - I was a Democrat when I moved to Austin. Dealing with the non-natives turned me into a Republican, I didn't come into Austin as a Conservative.
Yes, people fleeing Blue state politics is ruining areas because they vote for the same thing they fled from.
