The penny board is probably one of the funnest boards to cruise around on. A penny board has its place in anyones set of boards. So I'd say go for it :)
If your gonna be straight cruising. No major hills, not planning on doing any serious tricks. then I'd go for a Penny board. They are just so fun and zippy to ride, especially in the city. You can zip around people, and it barely weighs anything, so carrying it isn't a hassle at all. I honestly love the thing.

Penny boards are great for cruising. I would recommend a plastic board, solely for the durability. You can get them wet, and not have to worry about warping or water logging.

Hey im wondering, is cruising on a penny just as comfortable as on a longboard? I am really not sure because i want to get a longboard or a penny board, a pennyboard is a little cheaper so i was thinking which one i should get. any tips?
The pink one was a Stereo Vinyl Cruiser. You can get them at your local Zumiez shop, or online for about $60 - $80.

They are pretty similar. The stereo board is made out of a harder plastic, while the penny boards feel like they are made of a more durable, almost rubbery plastic. i've ridden both, but i like the penny, only cause it feels much more solid than the stereo.

Well, a Penny board is much more zippy and compact, so it's a really good cruiser to get to class, and throw in your locker/bag. Longboards on the other hand are going to be much more stable at higher speeds, and theres a huge variety. Both have their pro's and cons, but personally, I'm a longboarder.

I just bought the glow board with blue wheels today. It's so dope, rides so smooth.
I've got pretty big feet, size 13, which one out of the two pennys (Nickel and Original) would you recommend?
These will be alot more friendly than regular skateboards. They won't need as many pushes to get you going. They are much more fun & smooth to cruise around on. Learning to skate will take some getting used to, but learn at your own pace.

do pennys have a max speed or something?? i push and push and push and never go any faster than however fast im crusing.

We got ours at a local "Zumiez" shop. Generally most shops that sells skateboards will have penny boards or something similar. Just gotta keep lookin!

nickel is the penny brand, just a larger version of the original penny board. i got mine today, went out for a spin and loved it! took a fall getting used to the size though, but it's a very small break in period i'd say...the nickel allows for a more natural stance (on a regular skateboard) than the smaller board. Oh and i'm 5'10 but im 180 with size 10....it holds me well, dont think you'd have a problem.
how tall / how much do you weigh? also, how fast would you be planning on taking them?

My dad says these are slow, Is that true? And he said, " Why spend 100$ on a slow plastic skateboard when you have a skateboard " I told him so I can cruise and not do tricks on the Penny Board. So are these fast and are they durable??

If money isn't an issue, and you don't want the stickers n sunglasses. I'd definitely recommend the penny then. The stereo board in the video is a friends, and theres a lot of play in the board, like rattling bolts/hardware. but everything is tight. I've never had that issue with the penny. I think the penny just feels more durable and has a smoother ride.

What do you think is better between the Stereo Vinyl and the Penny board?
Rough roads will be a little hard to push through, considering the wheels are quite small. Once you hit some nice, smooth roads, you'll be gliding.
I did a quick search on them.
They pretty much look like a Penny, without the logo. My guess is that it will ride pretty similar to a Penny if "Fish" actually spent time and effort making them, using quality materials, etc.

Yeah he has a Stereo Vinyl. Pretty much the same, but subtle differences.
The guy who was skating in Converse's skates in them all the time. He says he likes the thin soles of the shoes, so he can feel the board under his feet. I guess it's a personal preference kind of thing.

ahah, trust me, our shoes are mangled as of now... some ways to slow down if you're finding yourself gaining too much speed is to either carve it out, or foot brake, or you can be all fancy and bust out a slide. ;)

It's not a knock-off, but actually a Stereo Vinyl. Those are good boards as well, just a different brand.
