My word, this is unbelievably good. His voice in this is just magnificent. I've heard this sung by many brilliant tenors but this might be the quintessential version. So rich, powerful, controlled and emotional, just the ultimate tenor performance.
The most splendid Cavaradossi I have seen&heard. Jose Carreras is in a league of his own. Pity there are not more recordings to be watched and enjoyed forevermore by fans

@@garyroberts3859 thats because he went through cancer and lost the virility and strength his voice had. Also, the three tenors concert was not indicative of the way the singers sang. The singing there was terrible! The concert was monetarily successful and that's great, but you should listen to them singing the various arias in their prime.

Melchior were my favourites then and still are. From what you said you have a far greater understanding than I do and I always appreciate learning more.

I’ve always been drawn to this mystical, sad but beautiful world of Tosca. actually, this is one of my favourite songs among a lot of operatic songs and I think Mr. Carreras just knows how to pull out the sorrow, sadness and beauty in this particular song so nicely! I like Mr. Pavarotti’s and Mr. Domingo’ version of this song equally beautiful, but I know Mr. Carreras was one of my favourite singer among the three tenors as a child! One day, I hope to see Tosca again even if it may not be sang by mr Carreras or Mr. Domingo.

Soojee Pyo Mr. Carreras dies every time he sings. In my opinion he is the most passionate and sensitive singer of our time.
