Heavy storm hits Turin, roofs torn off and trees blown down by the wind in the Mirafiori area

A strong storm accompanied by powerful gusts of wind hit the southern area of Turin on the afternoon of Wednesday 14 August. The intense gusts caused numerous damages especially in the Mirafiori area.
Many trees fell. In via Togliatti a tree fell on a car. In the same area, part of the roof of a building flew onto another parked vehicle.
The wind also partially blew off the roof of the “Gaetano Salvemini” school in via Negarville.
"It felt like an earthquake. I was up in the house, all the shutters were banging and the boxes in the yard were flying. It was loud, loud and lasted for half an hour," said a local resident.
