Nope. Sephora decides the price. They take 65%-70% of that product's price. Elf is a drugstore brand. Drugstores don't take take anything over 50%. There's a reason why buying from a brand's website can sometimes be WAAAY cheaper, than buying from Sephora, because they can make like, 20-50% off sales, but their full price should always match Sephora's dude to contracts. Marlena Stell discussed this in a video before, aside from that I also follow a few Indie brands who spoke about being in the talks with a big retailer to sell their products in their stores. They never disclose which retailer it was, but as soon as they say the retailer demanded 65% or 70% of their sales, I immediately know which company they're talking about. Most of these brands backs out when they hear the cut percentage the retailer wants. It is also the reason why drugstore and some high-end brands can be bought cheaper in places like Amazon, because e-commerce sites usually only charge brands 2-5% in fees. Other than that the place where the products are manufactured has a big impact on the cost too. Since manufacturing companies and labs from different places charge differently from each other. Italian manufacturing companies tends to charge the most, while Chinese manufacturing companies charges the least.
