Katia Labèque - piano
Marielle Labèque - piano
David Chalmin - guitar, vocals
Alexandre Maillard - bass
Raphaël Séguinier - percussion
NB the musicians and their instruments were given as an info file with the recording of this concert. All files were downloaded from a respectable tracker. I do not know who and how the music is made. I just do the visual. - Hudba
if you chant Om along with this, either in unison or in intervals, you experience the vibration both within and from the external music. It's extraordinary and refreshing to do for 15 minutes! It's my new wake-up chant. really revives me.
Best comment ever
The Velvet Underground Documentary (15th October 2021) brought me here. What a revelation! My musical consciousness keeps on expanding after all those years thanks to the ground breaking aspirations and sounds from all the unsung artists and musicians from around the world. Amazing!! Thanks.
That’s a nice way of getting here. Thanks for listening and looking.
@ Aa Kk - Where can I watch this documentary.?
@@viveksharma8916 in Apple TV (spain)
that movie was my way to discover La Monte Young too
Hear hear!
So glad this reappeared on CZcams 😊😊😊
Glad you noticed it’s reapperance.
Yes, I listened to it regularly, then one day it was gone. And it’s not available anywhere. Great recording.
What a treasure! I never heard of La Monte Young in music school. I'm doing experimental electronic music now and I can see the evolution. What a great sound!
Glad you found it. What would life be without knowing the music of La Monte Young?
WTF ?? ITS JUST DRONING
@@cuvieradaptations awesome!
@@Wtahc whatever floats your boat, man. I have a degree in music and have been a musician 44 years. I'm not really into what you think of my personal choices. Peace.
@@davidpetersonharvey RFOL ahahahhahah u actually typed that
damn, this drone is 60 years old and sounds so fresh even today
I mean there was a truck passing by and the sound of the engine perfectly melted into the music. 'good evolution', I thought.
Monkey
I have a loud heavy fan in the background, while listening to this it mixed together and sounded better as it did so.

Thank you.
You’re welcome.
Surprised hearing Labeque Sisters playing such a modern music ! Beautiful ! Thanks a lot for this discover !
Let’s just say that I am skeptical regarding the listing of musicians and instruments here. Interesting experience, though
Remarkable - pure beauty
Cette musique se déplie comme un livre d'images plein d'étoiles, où viennent filer les oiseaux, tourner les farandoles, claquer les crécelles et danser les sorciers 👀
Pour moi c'est le vibration d'un carillon qui s'éternise
life-changing.
Drone is my new favorite form of music.
Why can't Justin Bieber do something like this?
@@billscheissmann7842 well i would also like to hear his music. Just after listening to this masterpiece
Excellent deep
This becomes very addictive!!!.
Well im from New England, and I came looking for you
There’s nothing wrong with that. As long as you don’t put me on a pedestal.
LOVE it - so much to LSITEN to (and so many people don't know how to listen)... Should be fascinated to know how it was done - looking at line up (and no sign of "electronics")
unless the instruments are amplified, unless the guitar is electric, unless there is feedback being generated, unless it's not a contrabass. I'm with you, I wish I could figure out wtf the percussionist is doing for example But I think you just have to let it go and listen. If possible!
@@corc1130 The Labeque sisters are pianists.... so - who knows. Just listen and absorb.
google it (keyword: analysis)
@@jaroslavryzek7728 Thanks! Shall have a go....
You can rosin up fishing line and use it to “bow” piano strings for sustained notes. Maybe that’s how?
Suddenly, all my chakras are unblocked.
my are blocked
Where can I get this
I Would love to find a physical release of this track; alas both Dream House comps seem to be without this gem. Anyone have other ideas?
At this moment (march 2021) the complete show incl this track can still be found on dimeadozen.org. You can make your own hardcopy.
Also it is very interesting hearing the slight alterations in the high pitch note. Reminds me of an overtone performance
What an experience
Not my cup of tea I’m afraid🙁 I was curious to hear it. ‘Yoko Ono had appointed composer La Mont Young as musical director of the concerts she hosted in her New York Loft- Young was strongly influenced by Japanese Gagaku’. Apparently, she had been involved in music long before the Beatles 🧐
Yoko was always more invested in the avant-garde side of music than the Beatles :)
She played Carnegie Recital Hall (not the orchestral hall) on 11/24/61.
Graphics & drone are great.... I'm not too sure about the credits & some of the comments.
The credits given are for the complete Minimalist Dreamhouse show from which this composition was ‘taken’. Who exactly plays (and not plays) from the musicians mentioned in the credits is unsure.
@@notlookingfornewengland - This is a fine match of sound performance & well-chosen well-improvised(?) visuals - well put-together. The visuals are similar to another NLFNE video probably music by Morton Feldman (Morty's Sonic Realm perhaps!). Keep up the good work.
@@rogerantonybennett5272 I wish i could remember how i made this. It probably involved throwing a dice very often and moving film around accordingly. But i forgot. Which is probably better. If i remembered i would never make a new visual.
@@notlookingfornewengland - LaMonte Young's Tortoise in this performance is much better than the Feldman Piano/Organ escapade which I've just heard on your most recent video where the visuals are beginning/continuing to gain ground - COFFEE COLOURED GROUND !
@@rogerantonybennett5272 you’re right about that. I only made the Feldman Last Pieces ‘thing’ so i could use the lockdownperiod video’s and remember this strange period in my life.
Not looking for new England myself, but who did the artwork for the clip?
All artwork on this/my channel is made by myself.
@@notlookingfornewengland I enjoy it very much. It compliments the music very well in my opinion.
@@JoshSmith-uc4vx glad you like the artwork and thanks for mentioning that.
You also uploaded another video with a piece by Young, but it's unavailable now. What is the name of the piece? I've been looking for months and just can't find it anywhere.
One was removed by YT as there was a copyright claim by the gallery which represents La Monte Young. I had 2 other LMY videos and i made them ‘invisible’ as i don’t want my channel removed. I think you can see this one because you made an earlier remark.
@@notlookingfornewengland Right, I can only see that there is an unavailable video. That's a shame, I really enjoy listening to Young's pieces and this is the only way I can do it for now. Could you please tell me the name of the other pieces you had uploaded?
@@matiasalvarezfranks6935 there was a ‘for brass’ (which is in another form on YT). I forgot the title of the removed one. You can find some interesting LMY on UbuWeb (look under sounds and then for LMY), plus there is an awfull lot of other interesting music there.
@@notlookingfornewengland Thank you!
I didn’t hear any of the instruments credited
The instruments credited were given with the soundfile i used. But i don’t hear them myself.
Can someone please tell me the structure of this piece, the timbre (instruments, thick, thin) and the dynamics such as volume loudness and quiteness
Check the description box and go from there
Who did the visuals?
All visuals on this/my channel are made by myself.
From which album is this track taken from? Thanks
It comes from a radiobroadcast and has, as far as i know, never been released on a album. You might still find the broadcast at dimeadozen dot org.
Thank you!!@@notlookingfornewengland
how did you make the visuals?
If i remember it correctly it went something like this. I used 6 “films”, each of about 10 sec. All were filmed in an empty room of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. I made x number of films using the 6 films in a random sequence that lasted the whole of LMY’s composition. I then cut vertical segments out of the films and joined all these together. The colour is an unplanned accident, the original films were gray. Don’t know how that happened but i decided not the change it.
While it's good to hear that people are performing Young's music - this sounds nothing like the Theater of Eternal music's rendering. This sounds more like David Jackman / Organum.
There was an extraordinary freedom to the choices performers could make. I've never seen a score for this piece or comments by Young or Marian Zazeela about what kinds of restrictions might be imposed. I'm very curious now.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.
Flag of butterfly
I thought the start sounded like the beginning held out drone note in Tally Hall’a “Ruler of Everything”
sound is not enough!
Tão pobre! Tão pifio! É bom para autómatos, emoção, zero!
O facto de não haver emoção na música parece-me contradizer a sua reacção.
