At 06:38 the cards outside the bins taped to the side were ARRL staffers and Board members. Tom Frenaye K1KI, Joel Kleinman N1BKE, Hal Kramer WJ1B (former COO under Dave Sumner), Dave Sumner K1ZZ (former General Manager, later EVP then CEO), Dave Patton NN1N, and Harry Dannals, W2TUK who was one of my predecessors as Hudson Division Director are some that I recognize.

The license at 03:54 was Clarence Tuska's commercial license. We all know about ARRL's founder and President, Hiram Percy Maxim, but fewer people know about the other founder of ARRL - Clarence D Tuska. He was originally SNT (self-assigned) and then got the callsign 1WD, and later 1ZT. He got 1AY when the war was over. HPM was 1AW later W1AW. I believe this license is his commercial license. Tuska was the one who started publishing QST and initially it was owned by him. He got interested in more commercial ventures and the ARRL took it over. He later moved to New Jersey and he passed away in 1985.

@@AA0Z the story of how Maxim met Tuska is amazing and heartwarming. Tuska made crystal sets, Maxim bought one, and claimed it didn't work. Tuska went to his house and told him how to fix it. They had a lasting friendship after that for many years and Tuska was like his son. The book 200 meters and down is fascinating. I read it cover to cover and I know the early history of the ARRL by heart. I have also had many in my circle from ARRL over the years, from Steve Mendelsohn W2ML to the staffers and board members I knew during my tenure there. The roots run deep. To this day I have many current and former dedicated staffers as my friends because they know I love amateur radio and its history!

    Hi Kyle,
Nice working you yesterday on 20 and 40 as W1AW/0. Those Yaesu radios, with the three knobs at lower right, were most likely FTdx5000's. Great tour. Hope to one day make it there and get in some operating. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U

I love the idea of the bricks and benches as a fundraiser and a way to pay tribute to a loved SK. But who in the world thought it would be a good idea to put a picture of someone's face on the business end of a bench???
