- Video and stills from the inside of the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum in Strasburg, Pa. If you like the GG-1 electric locomotive, there are a lot of pictures of it in this video. I also included some video and many stills of other equipment plus stills of most of the explanatory signs about each piece.
That GG1 looks like it's ready for the next train. I gotta tell you, the inability of this country to produce an up-to-date version/replacement for the GG1 is just mind-boggling. We've ceded the process to foreign manufacturers. We ought to hang our heads in shame.
Hi very nice museum, all the models trains that I love.reminder me years before, when I go to Philadelphia, glad to have nices souvenirs, friendly Jacques Canada
Glad you enjoyed it
Woww, awesome view of trains😍
That GG1 is so immaculate!
I have been here and it is absolutely amazing. Also, you can go right across the street and take a ride on thr Strasburg Railway. Amazing passenger cars pulled by a real steam engine.
Charlie
Awesome
Thanks for sharing. Well done. Gotta get back there soon!
The GG-1 in particular is a work of art, though the steam engines get the prize for sheer visible complexity. Anyway, we'd welcome your visit to the States if that ever happens. Another good place to check in the East is Steamtown USA a little farther north in Pennsylvania.
I love this railroad museum! I've been here before!
La iconica locomotora eléctrica GG1, hermosa e imponente.
@12riccal I was using a Sony HDR-CX500V camcorder (one of the 2009 flagship consumer camcorders). This year's model is the CX550V, which has a native wider angle lens among some other improvements. But they have the same sensor and basic specs. If I visit this museum again, I'll probably take my wide-angle lens for the CX500 and mount it for some of the indoors work.
That streamlined tank engine at 4:01 looks like streamlined Thomas's basis.
DisneyStoreFan1 I
HandCar Productions You what?
the Norfolk and western, southern and southern pacific railroad and the Pennsylvania railroads where my main favorite union pacific is second since I live right next to a branch line and they love blasting past my house
I live in western PA, but I haven't visited Strasburg since I was little.
@jettrainfan Thanks. It's a tough place to shoot because the light ranges from very dim to something that will easily blow out a picture. The camcorder did most of the work!
@trainfann1 Ah, you're correct. The Strasburg shops do restore some narrow-gauge equipment, though.
Beautiful. The classic GG-1 coupled to its heavyweight CONGRESSIONAL like ready to start runing again on The Northeast Corridor from Washington to New York. Its memory and legacy is to be the pioneer of America High Speed Train Service. Pollution totally free. Its succesor ACELA is reaching this goal and going farther than expected.
@grizzleybearz282004 Looks like $10 for adults ($9 for seniors), $8 for children. As a side bonus, the Strasburg narrow gauge railroad is right across the street, the Choo-Choo Barn layout is just down the road, and there's a Toy Train Museum close by in the other direction.
ThomasAlexHD Strasburg isn't narrow gauge. But it is a 20 something mile shortline rail road that actually still moves freight.
awesome train video and I went here on Google maps
@grizzleybearz282004 You're welcome, I love the GG-1. And the one in the museum is really stunning if you like that locomotive. If you're into photography, bring a wide-angle lens. If I go back, I'm definitely doing that.
@12riccal Any ETA on the 460? I don't see anything obvious on the Museum website. Hey, I just heard the horn of a MARC train. We can't escape them (not that we want to!).
There are no clear pictures or video of the inside of the e44 why can’t they let people in already
That easy just get on plane strait to Harrisburg or Philly take about 8 hours, took me from Cleveland about that time, please check some of my videos from Strasburg RR museum, thank you.
wow, looks so awesome !!!
i would like to go there...but i live in belgium :(
Multiple links on the Internet indicate there's a dome car from the Crusader consist at the musuem. If it was there in 2010 when I took this video, I missed it.
@ThomasAlexHD STRASBURG IS NOT NARROW GAUGE GET UR FACTS RIGHT!!!
