Thanks Frank, yes, even for the sad news but great stuff that you're taking us along ! Well now, the CHOW mobile had served in front of the BC Library for downtown awhile ago, maybe it'll show here soon. Folks should see the staff at 'Loaves and Fishes,' a pantry, on Vestal Ave. and Mill St. on certain days. Exactly as you said, maybe that second version of 'Greater Good Grocery' on the North side will show up here. Onto your usual much happier content 🎉☺️ !
You got your drone up there … nice to see Binghamton again! Those Weiss stores were the Giant back in the day. It’s gonna be tough on that neighborhood with no grocery nearby. I ate at park dinner here and there also I would go to thirstys once in a while if a good band was playing… it’s almost spring time there , stay well 🌻💛🙋♀️
Sad, but not unexpected. I had my first job at the Giant at that location in the mid 80's. My brother followed several years later. There are lots of memories there. On Saturdays, when I worked there, the place was always packed from Bell to Bell. But, the last few times I went in on a Saturday, the place was nearly empty. I'm told that Weiss is not nearly as popular as The Giant was. I hope an Aldi's or something similar goes in there.
I haven't been in Binghamton in many years. I find ur videos very interesting. A lot has changed since i last visited in the early 90s. I wonder if that CVS has some food items for sale? A lot of drugstores where I am in FL have a section with canned goods, cereal, crackers, coffee and soda. . They also have frozen secrions with basics like milk, cheese, eggs and pizza. I hope that neighborhood doesn't become a food desert.
A lot of people who live at Webster Street apartments and homeless people in the area used this store. People in the neighborhood woth no cars used this location. Maybe Aldi?
I see an apartment community less than a mile away from that Weis so there is a loss for those residents. I assume that car folk just drive to Wegmans or WalMart and ignore places like Weis.
At about 8:50 in your video, if you don’t take the left, just continue straight and follow the curve that bends left, it’s a straight shot to the Weis. Definitely sucks that the Conklin one is going away though!
South side, more near Vestal, we still live in area near General Hospital.I grew up S.S.on Conklin Ave.closer to this store closing but unfortunately getting a little rougher around there now.
Like many things, the devil can be in the details. Maybe the bus stops get further away because a landmark is gone. Maybe that neighborhood has lower car ownership or higher percent of 65+ than other neighborhoods. This doesn’t matter Only If those statements are false.
Growing up on Macon Street seeing this makes me so sad. I feel so bad for the residents
As an out of stater that moved from Vestal in 1986, I love your driving tours of the area. Thank you for all you do.
Welcome!

Especially hard for those in the Saratoga Heights and Terrace.

From Giant to Weis to rip
Bingo town trying it's best to become Detroit
I THINK THE WEIS MARKET ON CONKLIN AVENUE DID GOT ROBBED THERE FRANK.
I am currently looking to move to Binghamton from NYC asap any recommendations on neighborhoods that are safe ??
Riverside drive, vestal, south side of bing…lots of options
For the most part, Binghamton is safe. It just depends on what you involve yourself in.
South side, more near Vestal, we still live in area near General Hospital.I grew up S.S.on Conklin Ave.closer to this store closing but unfortunately getting a little rougher around there now.
Did that location close because of Shop Lifting?
No idea
Not profitable. Reason unknown. Too bad, nice store.
I talked to one of the employees, and he said the now-closed location wasn't making enough money to keep the store opened.
Good candidate for a Dollar General 😀
How much would I have to pay to see you run a red light?
Free….red is against my religion and stopping is negative, I like to keep moving forward. At least that’s what I would tell the officer
Frank relax people will get fresh fruit/vegetables,,it's not the end of the world,,yet
Many people in Binghamton are disabled and/or without reliable transportation. Buy a clue.
Right? 😂 There are other grocery stores and they’re really not that far away. A mile or two? Buses run near all of the grocery stores.

@@reddhayzeslc Defensive much?
@@tmm6884 defensive? That was far from a defensive comment. 🤷♂️
