    I have passed the last 10 years of my life trying to understand this. Thank you so much for this excellent class!

    Very thorough, and the artwork shown at the end looks amazing. It really is all about the fundamentals. Looks like an incredible course. And what you said about holding the pencil on the side to make lighter marks, that finally helped me figure out how to make light marks with charcoal which I've struggled with for years because I was only using the end point. Thank you. Great work sir.

    it's wonderful to learn more about pencils etc, taught with discipline and encouragement ! Mark making is more of a challenge then easy trick, setting one's self free to engage tight and flowing space.

    It's the first time I see someone preparing their eraser, it's actually a really good tip. I immediately felt the urge of shaping all my erasers, haha.

    What if I have a mechanical pencil

    • @RuinedTemple
      @RuinedTemple Před 8 měsíci

      I'd suggest getting a 2.0 size mechanical pencil & lead if you aren't willing to or for some reason can't buy or obtain a small set of artist's pencils of various hardnesses.
      Once you have the 2.0, you can click the lead out far enough to use its side for making broad marks.
      If you can't buy a new 2.0 mechanical pencil right now, I'd suggest doing as much as you can from the video (everything that doesn't require holding the side of the lead down to the paper) & if you can find a regular wooden pencil or even a colored pencil, sharpen it like the instructor demonstrates in this video, practice sharpening them as instructed, & use them for trying & practicing any marks that require holding the side of the lead down to the paper.
      Good luck!
      And never allow not having a certain medium or tool hold you back from your artistic journey, because you can think of ways to get around their absence to try techniques, learn skills, practice, & create the art that you wish to create.
