UNDERTALE Clover!Swap Mod - Preview 9: Undertale Yellow Cast's Cameos

- Been a long while, but at last, here is the next preview for Clover!Swap!!! Today, it's gonna be very simple: I'm showing off the (finally) finished Undertale Yellow NPCs!!! They are mostly just here to tie in the two games together, (Considering that's kind of the point of the whole mod) though they all have new stories to tell, and some (And by some, I mean Martlet) will even directly help and hint at the story you are going through. These have been in development for far too long, so I'm very happy that they're finally all done.
These are just their regular and first interactions, though much like the other NPCs in this game, they have much more to say if you revisit them later in the story, or if you do certain actions. I'll let you find that out for yourself, though...
UNDERTALE Clover!Swap Mod is an AU mod with a simple premise: Clover and Frisk have swapped places in the timeline, leading to Clover being the eighth fallen human, while Frisk becomes the seventh. As such, you now control Clover going through what would have been Frisk's journey.
However, this isn't a simple quick&dirty sprite swap; The whole game has been adapted for Clover's presence, such as the story, dialogue, cutscenes, SOUL modes and even enemies stats all being adapted to be accurate to Undertale Yellow's depiction of the yellow SOULed human.
It features, most notably:
-Clover in place of Frisk, complete with run button, sense of Justice, gun mastery and cowboy hat, pardner!
-Undertale Yellow's ammo rather than Undertale's weapons to load into your Toy Gun!!! (Some of Undertale's weapons are still available to be seen, but most aren't able to be picked up, and the one that is can't be used as an actual weapon)
-Permanent access to the Yellow SOUL mode starting from a certain point, depending on the route
-Heavily rewritten dialogue, most notably from Flowey (While Clover has learned to be DETERMINED enough to save on their own, that won't stop Flowey from mocking and tricking them!)
-Heavily reworked enemy stats to make the game harder. (In accordance with Clover being "too weak" for the main path according to Flowey in UTY Neutral, though there will be an alternate patch to disable them)
-A very different Genocide Run, now themed around Clover upholding JUSTICE!!! Previously one-shottable bosses now take more than one hit, the old faces have new dialogue questioning your sense of JUSTICE, and a brand new boss, as well as a new ending for the route. And of course, starring Enemy Retreating.
-Undertale Yellow music and references where they make sense!
-JUSTICE for the hidden bosses, one turning into a superboss and the other into an obligatory Genocide encounter.
-Several unused and scrapped features restored, from items to enemies!
-Blocking Alphys's Hotland text messages!!
-A birb contact for your CELL PHONE!!!
AND SO MUCH MORE STUFF THAT YOU'LL HAVE TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF ONCE IT'S RELEASED!!!!!

@@legendgames128 Its not that hard. They're easy to make.
Here's some tips.
1: Make Martlet a fun time event. Because if it's meant to be Undertale but with Clover it wouldn't make sense that she would be there.
2:Make Martlet be less friendly.
She just met the kid and is trauma dumping. This dialogue can be used potentially at the ending of the game if you back track.
It also doesn't make sense that she believes they're friends after Clover spoke like 3 words to them.
3 Lastly, the reason the line shouldn't be used too early is because people are gonna start Wondering what the deal with Frisk is in this universe only to never get an answer. That will be disappointing.
4:Mentioning "You should come to the wild east" rather than "The wild east is great" gives the expectation that the player we'll be able to go there.
That is definitely gonna disappoint players when they realise they can't actually go there.
5:Ceroba almost works but it has two issues, mainly one.
(1) It spoils the game, and even if the player has played the game, it shouldn't spoil the character own journey.
(2) Ceroba should believe their child is dead. They already have suspicion that she is dead in Yellow, so after ages of waiting for her child, only to be told that they can't return home, she would assume that they're dead.
And it was also mentioned in Undertale that Alphys got mail, they didn't actually confront her.

This looks real nice! It's nice to see what the UTY gang is up to. (Also poor Frisk) My only complaint is that it feels way too fanservice-y. I think it would be better if they were very rare fun values. (Kinda like the Gaster followers. You'd have to be really lucky to see them).
+Idea: Can you give us an option to choose between the Undertale and Undertale Yellow FIGHTing system maybe? (The squad and the circle systems) That way the players can choose how they wanna fight and all the extra work and original sprite work you did wouldn't be for nothing.
I mean it's fan-servicey yeah, but that's kinda the point.
I wouldn't want to make them fun value exclusive since otherwise you couldn't see them all in one playthrough. (There will be new Fun events though)
As for an option relating to the battle system, while it would be cool the Undertale-style was really just a placeholder until I could find someone able to implement the proper UTY reticle. I'll see what I can do though. (The original UT style IS used for the BFG though for what it's worth)

It’s so sad that this version of Kanako fused with other monsters, meanwhile in other AU’s she’s perfectly fine without fusing into any monsters 😢

makes sense here, at least, since kanako went bye bye before the first change in the timeline so she was melty no matter what, the sprite was just changed to be outright melty kanako for better consistency because the uty devs confirmed kanako was the spoon

I like how this mod is going, though, I do have some criticisms
1. I feel you're leaning too heavily on the theory that the red soul's trait is love, there's no harm in it, but maybe reference other theories too, such as the multiple trait and determination theory
2. Martlet might be better somewhere in snowdin forest. If she had her own room it would also give an excuse to make that room play her theme, as opposed to it starting when you talk to her
4. Ceroba and Starlo's placements feel a bit random, they might fit in at grillby's, but then you'd have the entire yellow cast in snowdin
5. Dalv's placement is perfect! Well done
6. Amalgamate world sprites are white, so I'd either recommend colouring the other amalgamate world sprites, or making kanako fit their theme

I like this but i feel like martlet is giving WAY too much exposition. I get that it’s to reference the UTY pacifist ending but for her to meet a human and just immediately starts giving a speech on the previous human just feels a bit out of place.

I like the idea that Martlet’s mentioning it to make the new guy feel more at peace with being in the underground. Considering how well the last one turned out, you wanna make sure the new guy knows they’re already somewhat accepted
@@freyathedragon899 yeah, but it kinda feels weird for martlet to paraphrase the pacifist ending to UTY to a human they’ve never met before. You can say “you’re welcome here” without trauma dumping on a child.

In UTY, when Clover is asked for their name, you get a dialogue box with only one option, which is, y'know, Clover saying their name. In this preview, when Martlet asks for their name, you don't get that dialogue box
