Sergio Michel Hearns beats anyone at welterweight who doesn't have the power to KO him, his boxing ability and physical advantages at that division are way too much for anyone to beat him just by boxing him and there's no way Floyd can KO him. Hagler's also at middleweight so that discussion is kind of irrelevant. You could maybe make a case for the others, Leonard is definitely a close fight but I'd see Leonard winning, I think Mayweather would probably pull a 'No Mas' on Duran and maybe win by boxing him that way and same with Chavez. Robinson beats the stuffing out of Floyd though.

@@chrismason4449 The fight would never happen because no version of Floyd is middle and Hagler only fought 160, and no way in hell is Floyd risking prime Hagler. Ray wouldn't, and he fought Hearns whose power carried to 180+.
And which Hagler are you talking about? The famous fight Hagler, or prime Hagler?...Hagler's famous fights were all post-prime because no one wanted him prime--bad risk/reward ratio...which Floyd mastered. So Floyd would never fight him.
It actually took threats from a homer Senator, Ted Kennedy, to probe boxing for corruption to give Hagler his first title shot WHEN FLOYD'S CAREER WAS OVER [50TH FIGHT...Floyd only fought 49 boxers]
I would also add that if we scaled Hag down to welter, what kind of fighter bothered Floyd the most? Pressure/swarmer/brawler fighters. If the unskilled Maidana was able to put in a decent showing vs Floyd but faded...what would an ultra-conditioned prime Hagler do?
Prime Hagler could fight in any style, actually danced and jabbed and felt out guys and broke them down and destroyed them, but he could brawl from jump if he chose. Like all fighters, he had to change with age.
Another thing to consider is the Mosley fight, where a rocked Floyd was able to keep Mosley off him with stinging punches.
Do you think Floyd could throw anything with those glass hands Hagler would even feel? When Hagler waded thru Hearns, Mugabi, Roldan, Sibson etc?
Floyd has unusual 6' reach on a 5'8" frame. but could he really stay outside the danger zone and potshot giving up 3" while keeping Hag off him? Has Floyd EVER fought at a reach disadvantage?
So no, that wasn't sentimental fanboy talk...
You are asking too much of Floyd, even with all his skill, savvy, and conditioning to expect him to survive Hagler
One more thing: Floyd has a great chin and takes punches to the body as well as anybody his size[that conditioning]. So he gets hit, just not as much as others, but people do not notice because he shrugs it off impressively
I have enormous respect for Floyd and am no hater. but when people talk about him beating guys like Hag and SRR, THAT is fanboy talk and not the result of analysis
Duran with that 67" reach and SRL would be matchups for Floyd, but Hagler?

@@porkfrog2785 listen brother you bring up a good point in that they just could not be put together because their bodies are completely different. I didnt explain my point but i shall now. You have to realise that fighters in this day and age fight at a much much higher level than before. With the new understanding of the human body, new substances, new nutrients, new technology of training, generations worth of boxing history to learn from, and many other factors. And just like anything in the world; money, technology, cars etc everything is constantly being innovated and becoming better, more useful, more efficient, and slowly the older stuff becomes less useful and phased out. This is the same as boxing. Whilst this is no disrespect to the old champs, boxing of the past has been phased out by boxing of today and I’m sure the old champs will be the first to admit it. It is just simply how the world works. Boxers of today have only learned from the great champs of the past and have added generations and generations worth of knowledge and skill, and all the other factors i have described. Also the industry as a whole have innovated too; rules, sanctioning commissions, promotors etc everything has become much more focused on pure performance. Take the rules for example. Only 12 rounds, bigger gloves, more restricted use of where you can hit opponent and how you do it, and the fact the referee can stop the fight if you literally receive 10 unanswered punches. The old champs fought in a time completely opposite to this. They were tough mfs! But toughness has nothing to do with being a good boxer anymore. It simply has been phased out by the focus on pure performance and safety of the fighters. Fighters of today barely even get hit hard anymore! Because they know the ref may stop them. The level of cautiousness and intelligence is what matters now. Fighters are like cats! Back in the day they would have absolute wars! Nowadays they have tactical chess matches. If someone thinks they are tough nowadays they would get absolutely punished with a jab. So my original point would be that yes our bias towards the legendary champs tell us that they would storm Mayweather and rough him up. But the truth is Mayweather would hit them with a jab coming from so many different angles and head levels that they would feel like they are in the classroom learning from him. Thats why i said he would look ordinary. Mayweather learned from Marvin Hagler to become how great he was! Mayweather probably knows all of Haglers moves and maybe even used a polished version of them! Hagler was awesome, tough, man of WAR, and stunning with his switches, slips and counters. But just go and watch a Mayweather fight. It will be so completely boring because all you shall be watching is a master defusing anything his opponent throws, and he will do this without even throwing a punch! Not even to mention Mayweather fought at 154lbs but only really weighed 150lbs whilst his opponent normally weighed over 160lbs! He didnt even need the weight advantage. His style was so perfect for the age and tactics he used and thats what partly got him the perfect record. Remember, there is a blueprint to beat Hagler, but not Mayweather. TBE! RIP!

at 160 it would never happen...and if Leonard would not get in the ring with prime Hagler, May sure wouldn't...these guys aren't stupid...but Floyd at middle wouldn't be Floyd, a natural light who started as a super-feather vs a natural top 3 middle? Be a slaughter. No one could do that. Duran did good tho

@Kevin Carmell That's because Duran was notorious for not keeping himself in shape between fights and would put on weight and by that time it was easier for him to make 160 then it was 47 or 54

Floyd should be on his knees kissing Marvin feet ......hagler was a supreme fighter when all the challengers were dangerous ....not like the hand picked shit that may weather fights .........l think floyd should fight 2 X 5 mins round k1 against Conor mcgregor and then 2 X 5 mins boxing and then 1 X 5 mins MMA rules .....a real fighter would go for it ....l fucking would
