The Kennel Club says popularity of the breed has fallen so much that it's now classed as vulnerable.

I'm on my second OES and I don't think they're particularly "high maintenance". They are a wonderful breed and great family pet. Btw, my avatar is Bogi, who was my first OES (or any dog) and he went on to live until almost 13 years old. I miss him very much. His successor, the 6 year old Snowball, is currently the family OES.

Nearly £3,000 on kennel club that'll be why!
They need to bring the price down. They cost around $1,000 for a puppy. Also, they need a lot of training, or they can scare people. They can seem very aggressive. They also eat a lot. Then there is the grooming. Otherwise, they are great. They do drool a lot and hate to be alone. If you leave them alone for a day, they might spite you eating off the counter or peeing on your rugs. If you want a really friendly smart, playful dog though, they are nice.

Brits not being able to tell "lie" and "lay" apart, now that's a national emergency. I expect it from the Muricans, but Brits? OES are lovely dogs, I grew up around them.
