going from a spring garden to a summer garden should be a smooth and gentle transition.
Sandy Bottom Homestead was started to supplement our food supply. By Gardening and raising chickens we have been able to meet that goal and start to surpass it. Follow us as we continue to build out our homestead and become better gardeners.

You know I figured out what really sets your garden tour videos apart for me, aside from similar climate and your general awesomeness .
They are information packed! You include why you do what you do, what is currently happening (example: starting to bolt), how you intend to turn over beds, and next crop. Feels like I'm just hanging out while I am getting so much good information that other garden tours leave out. Happy growing 💗
Thank you! You never know what you'll get around here
you are the Bob Ross of gardening!
That's awesome he was an amazing man!
Gardening is about letting go of the past and getting on with the future. Yanking out those old worn out plants and nurturing the new seedlings. Funny I never saw that until watching this video today. So many things we learn in our gardens.
This is also my mentality for dealing with my foot amputation. Get healthy, get strong, move forward. Don't let it be the hindrance that it can be. The timing of it sucked with not having my summer veggies in. But I am going to still try. Not trying to be a downer, just pointing out that moving forward is something we need to do in many aspects of life. Gardening is just a great tool for learning.
I hope you get better soon.
You mentioned the three sisters garden on your podcast the other day. I have planted that style of garden several times. Silver queen corn, pole beans, and pumpkins. Every time they all did great. First two times was a 10ft x 6ft area, third was 7ft x 4ft. 10x6 beds were putting out a large kitchen bowl worth of green beans each week. Never thought to weigh them. Corn was good, at least a couple dozen good ears. Pumpkins were insane, around 30 pumpkins from 5 plants. 7x4 bed had less usable corn, less beans but I believe just due to smaller bed/less planted, and maybe 12 pumpkins from 3 or 4 plants.
I love your garden in the woods so much!!! The lighting is so welcoming. My garden is in the woods too and its so peaceful ❤
Thank you. I love sitting in the quiet and watching the garden
All your videos 📹 and super fantastic 😊😊😊 learn so much..good info from you 😀 👍 lost all my garden 3 times so far. To night 🌙 going to frizz to night again..not good up here in Washington state 😊
Glad you like them. hope it warms up for you soon. Have you been planting cold tolerant crops?
Hoping it doesn't drop temp too low tonight. I wind has been nasty too.
Thank you. 😊 your down to earth knowledge sharing is wonderful. Waiting on my onions to get about an inch size bulb and begin keeping them ringed so they get huge! I am so behind on my compost and biochar but I will get there.
You garden is fab! Love your lil greenhouse too. 😊
Thank you ☺️
Shit man my carrots will be what an inch or 2 of green come may
I love your property. Did you build that green house or was it a kit?
Thank you. It was a kit. When this one gives up we will build one
@@sandybottomhomestead Ah copy.
I have asked this on a couple of you tub channels and haven't got an answer yet so Ill try you. I wanted to ask a question about fresh unbrewed coffee, is it good or bad for the garden? Oh and I live in the Piedmont of North Carolina.
good but never used it. if you think about it even brewed coffee grounds will still make coffee. I say go for it. however you want to make sure you are not adding to much nitrogen be sure to add some carbon.
I put brewed coffee grounds around my plants.
