Gurbachan Singh Bhullar, Sahitya Akademi Award winner was born in 1937. He is regarded as one of the most influential Punjabi author of short stories. He is widely known for his short story collection Agni-Kalas.
The writer consequently developed a taste for literature during his early childhood. His father prompted him to have a perspective about life which later shaped his contribution to Punjabi literature.

The phrase actually meant that she(ਆਸੋ) took gurdev along with her to the fields. 'ਉਂਗਲੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ' which is exactly written by the author himself in the story, is an old expression of ਉਂਗਲੀ ਫੜ ਕੇ that we use these days.
