- Replace metal gears in the gearbox.
Upgrade to 370 motor.
Stock Gearbox replace metal gears.
Look for 370 motor with long shaft or atleast 13mm long.
The conversion kit or spacer comes with motor pinion.
Still all are stock.

Awesome video! I have several MN78, one MN99s, and plan on getting the MN82. All of them need upgrades to improve performance and reliability. I appreciate this information.
Yes bro. Hope they will sell it separately. Mn82 board is color red, mn78 is green.
Nice mod. Its even better if you do the brushless mod and all the electronic
Salamat po.. im new to this. Unang upgrade ko to
Welcome bro thank you also
Great video. It's too much to hope for I guess but I wish the "industry" would standardize a few things like labeling their motors.
I just ordered a truck off of Banggood and your mods are helping me decide what to do with it when it arrives...months from now 🙂
Cge bro. Meron maganda sa spot sa Angono, Blessed Hills Subdivision
a month wait is to long 😭
very nice explanantion. im just waiting for my mn82 to arrive.. changing the motor sure my 1st thing to do
Thanks bro
I remember you did a similar conversion to mn78 and it was painful. I did the same to mine and didn't enjoy it. The adapter ring makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing
Hahahaha! Yes bro not so clean work on that mn78.
Finding the right type screws to attach the 370 motor was the tough part for me. Then, I found out the 370 motor I choose was high rpm but less torque than the original 270. I have the correct wpl 370 motor coming tomorrow morning.
@acroyear23 that spacer conversion kit comes with screws and a motor pinion also.
@@acroyear23 what rpm motor should we choose?
@@daijoubu4529 I choose the motor in this video. I finished the mod yesterday and I do not recommend it. It made my Jeep slow, and there was no noticeable additional torque.czcams.com/users/shortsb_FRrjOtHq4?si=yYRrra4zSASaCxqX
One more thing bro, could you tell me what is the motor driver IC on the MN82 stock ESC/receiver? I saw TA6586 on the MN9x/MN78 board, is it still the same? It's the DIP-8 chip next to the motor connector. Trying to figure out the max amp draw I can safely pull through the stock electronic (if it's the same, datasheet says 5A continuous and 7A max but may need heatsinking on the motor ouput legs)
Just received my MN82 today, ok woah they've replaced the motor driver from the MN9x boards, it used to be the TA6586 5A continuous, 7A peak with the SA8336 which can handle 7A continuous, 14A peak (if you can trust chinese datasheet), with a bottom heatsink pad, both are pin compatible but if you want to be able to heatsink it, you'll have to solder it upside down so you can stick a heatsink below lol
Thanks for the info, bro
Thank you for this information. I was hoping this could be done. 👍
Thank you also bro
Just found you and subscribed. Great informative videos. Thank you.
Thank you also, bro
Lastly, it just occured to me but do we need that spacer/adapter? Otherwise can't we just drill 2 holes on the plastic housing and use a more standard 10-11.5mm shaft motor?
Excellent work..!
Thanks bro
I also measure the stock motor RPM, it's about 18k RPM at 7.4V, so the output RPM is about 1000RPM with a 1:18 reduction
My friend try to put the gearbox with dspower 370 motor 31T. More speed and hard to controll he experienced.
@@morrisrc yeah that motor too fast 30000rpm lol
Great video
Good video...nice infomation...👍👍👍
Thanks bro
Great video, thanks for the info, may I ask how you manage to push the mn82 metal pinion gear into the long shaft 370 motor? Just by brute force? Because the 370 motor for the wpl 2 speed gearbox comes with an 8-teeth pinon, not the 10-teeth pinon like in your video.
The spacer or conversion kit comes with pinion gear. I just hit it gently. For removing I have a tool, pinion gear remover.
Hit it gently like using a hammer? Thanks for the tips! This helps me alot I saw the conversion kit as well and I want to give it a try after watching your video@@morrisrc
Yes bro gently. I use small mallet.
This is a fantastic video. Did you run the 370 off the standard electonics?
Is it possible to install an esc with the standard reciever etc for the 370?
Yes 370 motor in a stock board.
No, if you change esc you need a new tx rx also.
Does someone know the stock 280 motor RPM? From my math as per one AliExpress seller, a 6V 16500 RPM motor with the 1:35 reduction gear yield about the same speed (on the MN78), so that would translate into 8500 RPM, is that WPL motor a 6000 RPM one? Also, for the length of the shaft, does 13mm includes the step heigh? Many thanks
Afaik 370 motor from WPL are lower rpm than normal 370 motors at market. Under 10k rpm i suppose.
Nice video sir
Thanks bro
Is the top speed any faster or slower with the 370 installed? Thank you!
Slower and more controllable
Where did you get the adapter plate?
Shopee, ecommerce in the philippines.
Watching from Coron! Haha.
Enjoy bro and ingat!
The MN82 has a steel mod .6 motor pinion?
I am not so sure but I guess the modulos is 0.6. Bigger than pinion from aftermarket single speed 370 motor with reduction. I will check the details or find info and will update you.
Are you used motor from the link?
How long his shaft is ?
Yes, 11mm
@@morrisrc thanks. Can I use 10mm shaft,or it will too short?
Half of the pinion gear the shaft fit. Try it bro I guess its possible.
Aba nagbabalik na talaga sya!
Hahahaha! Sinipagsipag ng kunti, pre. Nagpupuyat ka nanaman jan hehe!
Hello. Can you please provide me a link for a 370 motor with long shaft. Couldn't find it.
Thanks
Hello bro, from where country you are? I am from philippines we buy parts at shopee and lazada. I will try to find, do you have bangood?
@@morrisrc I am from Portugal. I like AliExpress. Thanks
@@NobleTeamNoble I ordered this cheap one to try, 16mm shaft, medium speed 28.5k rpm
Good upgrade
🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵
Thanks bro
Any brushless motor fit in mn82?
Out runner motor or the 370 brushless combo from surpass hobby will do.
You can also try 370 brushed motor from dspower its just like your running brushless.
How many rpm does a 370 motor use? I want the same rpm as yours.
Hello bro, I am not sure there is no details from the seller. But I guess this is lower than 20k rpm
Bro, I agree with @idworkhard and beside more speed low torque.
What is mn82 stock motor shaft size? Is it 2 mm?
I guess its 2mm or 2.2mm. Same as 370 motor.
Hey bro, please new link for the motor. It's unavailable
Bro, here is the link and this is much better 21000 rpm.

@@morrisrc thanks
bossing saan kayo naglalaro?....kontakin ko kayo pag uwi ko dyan...new subscriber from La Ca.USa....
People say,if i want to change the motor,i need to change the esc too..is that true?
For me no need to change the esc. And I think the board is more compatible with 370 motor. My mn82 now run smoother.
@@morrisrc need to run a few more test, like crawling some hills something like that just for sure.. please update later,or do adventure video outside with mn82😄😎👍..oh ya,,do you have video on how to waterproof Rc,and which one should be waterproofing..thanks
Ok bro I will update you.
Higher speed motor needs more current, would be interesting to measure the 280 motor with no load and when stalled and compare that to the 370 series
You can get a 370 motor with a 2 speed gearbox and driveshafts so why not just install that ?
Yes it is possible. Any change of gearbox need modification for mounting. This upgrade is only for stock gearbox and if you want clean underneath. If it is fine for you the gearbox hang downward you can use wpl 2speed gearbox or aftermarket. You can lift the gearbox but for sure not a good angle for your driveshaft at it will hit also to the interrior or shell.
@@morrisrc Tks
Welcome bro
need pa ba re-solder?
Sa connector o wire ng motor
@@morrisrc thanks paps!
Welcome bro
Hi bro do you use 370 motor with high rpm o low?
I don't use high rpm motor only for a gear reduction with high gear ratio like in an aftermarket single speed.
@@morrisrc thanks bro 👍👍👍
Bro, but still up to you if you want more speed. For a crawler or trail rc I want a slow and controllable.
Applicable po sa MN99s? planning to upgrade the motor. newbie here. thanks po
No bro. Sa susunod na buwan mag rerelease si mn99 na pangilalim tingin ko un ung magandang upgrade.
@@morrisrc maraming salamat po. sayang kakabili lang 😁
Welcome bro
