Positioning system fault on a 2004 Otis lift!

- This used to be a 1970s Končar lift, but it was modded by Otis in 2004. I was recently at this building again and noticed the floor indicator on the ground floor displaying that the lift had lost position. I decided to ride it a bit to see what was wrong!
The lift seems to work fine until it gets to the 9th floor, where it advances one floor ahead and thinks it's at 10. It notices something is wrong and runs down into the basement to re-find its position. Interestingly, the issue seemed to resolve itself after I entered a call to floor 9 where the lift arrived as normal with no issues.

0:39 It skips floor 9 because the elevator positioning system probably hit a dangling sensor for the lift. But because it probably knew it was switching floors to quick! So it resets the lift then goes back in service.
Rather, I think it might've detected a mismatch between the selector position and the resolver position.
we all know the famous otis mod logic is the best and most efficient logic in existence /j

Service needs to be fixed with this elevator or need to be replaced it.
I like this mod especially the buttons! The buttons look so nice to press but the lift itself is in a very bad condition. Hopefully they will not modernize this lift. Talking about the positioning issue, it shows “- -“ when it loses position. Hopefully a repairman will fix this issue and put the lift into a better state. And also refurbish the cab. That is AlI have to say for this one. PS: this lift has a VERY LOUD clunk sound when leveling. It always scares the heck out of me.

What would happen if you selected floor 9 and then floor 10?
It will just stay on floor 9

Interesting what happends if u click the 9th floor and also why did u run when u could use the other lift
The other lift was stuck between floors at the time, and even if I did use it, it would be slower than running.

@@Cloverboi It was stuck between floors and turned off, I didn't have machine room access so there's nothing I could have done. It's probably waiting on parts as it has been off for a few days.

looks like need to change this elevator to newer
no just because is broken dosent mean it has to be replaced entirely, just needs new parts
