Afraid of humans?? What a joke... they most likely recognise the staff. Not just that, but when they attack, it's their instincts that had kicked in. When they recognise the person, they "snap out " of it. That's why having them as "pets" is dangerous. They might be genuinely attached to you, but for a few seconds, their instincts might surface.. and a few seconds are more than enough for a fatal attack to happen.. It looks to me like their stalking is mostly playful. They know he's not food, but the hunting instinct is triggered when he turns his back, so they want to go for him.
I suspect that if they really tried to catch him, they would be a lot more forceful (and also try to be sneakier).
Still, it's a powerful display and a good reminder that big cats don't make good pets.

Well, considering the fact that actual Velociraptors were only the size of a large turkey, I'd say they wouldn't really be much of a threat to humans, unless you were swarmed by a whole pack of them. The Velociraptors in the Jurassic Park movies weren't scientifically accurate. The ones in the movies were closer in size to that of a Utahraptor or Deinonychus than a Velociraptor.

What people don't understand is it's pure instinct. Even if a cat sees you as a friend, it will be compelled to sneak up on you if your back is turned. They do this in both hunting and play. The problem is that big cats are powerful enough to seriously hurt you just from playing. Even domestic cats can hurt you if they are not taught to play with sheathed claws and not bite. We have thinner, more fragile skin, and they don't instantly understand that we can be hurt easily by them through play.

This wasn’t a hunting instinct. This was them playing. Their mouths would’ve shown to be more aggressive and open. This was definitely a more playful attack. Hence to why they acted fine when he turned around. They’d still be trying to get him if it was an attack aggressively.

Tell that to the Norwegian farmers who try to eradicate the dwindling wolf population in Norway because they kill too many sheep.
