Part 24. The Bayah Of Akabah
A year ago the prophet sws gave dawa to the Khazraj in Mina. Ubbadh Ibn Samath said “A year later we went to give the first the pledge of Akaba. It was called the pledge of the women, Byath An Nisa. This was to be Muslim and righteous. No political requirements just Tauhid and obey the prophet sws in all good things. There were very few rules, no Hajj yet or Zakath, wine still halal, etc. He said “we all have him our oath”.
The prophet sws said “obey Allah and if you sin, make tauba”. They asked for help. There were about 250 male converts now.
The Dawa Of Musab in Yathrib.
The prophet sws sent Musab Bin Umair to each them. There were 40 Muslims with him so the prophet sws said they can pray Jumma now. This was the first Jumma bc the muslims couldn’t pray in Mecca. Musab gave th first khutba with 40 Muslims in Asad Ibn Zarrara’s House. Asad was hosting him as his guest.

Every tribe in Yathrib now had a Muslim in their family. After the old leaders died too young leaders, Usaid Ibn Huday and Saad Ibn Miah’s, had a huge influence on the tribes. They were close friends.
Usaid was the one that when he recited the Quran he would see the angles coming down to listen to him. The told the prophet sws “ whenever I recite my animals get excited and I see light.” The prophet sws told him “ these are the angels of mercy coming down to listen to you.”
Saad Ibn Muad, when he died the arsh Of Ar Rahman shook. First Usaid was sent by Saad “ this new religion has come to our city and my cousin Asad is housing the man named Muad, who is spreading the faith. Why don’t you go expel this man because I am embarrassed to tell my cousin?“ said Saad.
Usaid Went with his spear, when Asad saw him he told Muad “this is one of our leaders.” Asad asked Muad “ why have you come here? To take our women and children away from the religion of their ancestors? Leave now if you value your life. Musab said “Why don’t you listen to what I have to say,? if you like it I’ll stay but if you don’t like it I will leave.” So Usaid listened and after here in just a little bit was convinced. He said “how do o convert ? And also there’s one more person that you have to convince.” Usaid went back to Saad. Saad looks at him and knew this was not the same man. He asked him “ Did you succeed? “ Saad said. I tried but why don’t you go and try. And it has reached me that another tribe will kill Asad because he is housing Musab and you are not doing anything.
Saad became alarmed and took his weapons to house of his cousin Asad Ibn Zurara. He ignored Musab. said “O Asad if you were not my cousin my weapons would not be at my side. Get rid of this man.” Musab said “ just listen to what I have to say. If you don’t agree I will stop but if you agree I will stay.” Musab was very confident and calm. Saad agreed. Musab recited surah Zukhruf. This completely changed Saad Ibn Muad. “How do I convert ?” He asked and also accepted Islam.
With the conversion of Saad and Usaid the entire sub tribe of Banu Al Ashal converted with them. This was the largest conversion to Islam.
Only one man didn’t convert named Usayreem, for three years. Abu Hurairah said to his students “who was the only man who never prayed but went to Junnah ?” But Usaireem converted before the battle with the Quraysh and died that same morning in battle. After fajr and before Dhur. He asked to join the fight and they asked why ? He said “I am a Muslim now. “. He wen to the prophet and the prophet let him fight. Then he was martyred. The prophet sws said “he did very little but he was rewarded a lot and he’s from the people of Junnah.”
In the second year on Musab’S dawa, and the 12 year of the prophets dawa he returned with 75 people came to give Bayah at the hajj to the prophet sws. He converted about 300 people in Yathrib. He did this in one year. The younger generation didn’t like the foolishness of paganism and how many people died. The truly believed in the prophet sws. They knew about prophets and they wanted change.
Jabir Ibn Abdullah said “The prophet sws told the people to meet in the valley of Akaba at night. He stayed over ten years in Mecca asking them to support him but they all rejected him except a few individuals. Until finally Allah guided us of Yathrib and we beloved him until not a single tribe but they had Muslims in them.
Then We spoke to each other. ‘ For how long will we allow the prophet sws to go around fearing for his life asking for protection?” Everyone of The sahabi that sacrificed a lot in the early years was rewarded greatly in the later years. They went and asked the prophet sws before he could ask them
They wanted him to go to Yathrib. Kaab Ibn Malik, the one in Tabuk whom Allah revealed his repentance for not going to Tabuk initially. Kaab said many of us hid our Islam when we went to Hajj. We all agreed to meet at the last third of the night at the valley of Akaba. We snuck out at night until we met the prophet sws with his uncle
Abbas who was still a pagan.
Abbas was the same age as the prophet sws and he did business with the elders who were now killed, of Yathrib. He loved the prophet and it was tribal loyalty and love. He was fearful because he didn’t see any of the elders that he used to deal with. He later became Muslim. Abbas was embarrassed that the prophet sws had to leave his own tribe.
Jabir said “Abbas said ‘Ya Khazraj, you know the satus of this man amongst us. We have prevented them from harming him. He has honor amongst us. If you can live up to your duty to him then take responsibility for him otherwise leave him be. he has honor.”
The people of Yathrib said “please put the conditions on us. What are they ? The prophet sws I will let you give the bayah if you give me munaah - if you give me protection.” Al Bara Ibn Marur said “ we are people who have experienced the arts of war, stretch for your hand and we will give our bayah!”
Then Abu Haytham Ibn Tayhan, the one had passed by the prophet sws Abu Bakr and Umar when they had no food to eat and had stones tied to their stomach. He couldn’t stand this. He went home and told his wife to kill the last goat they had. Then he fed them. Abu Haytham stood up and said “ Ya rasul Alllah. We have treaties with the Yahud. By accepting you those treaties will be broken. Then Allah will give us victory over everyone else. When that happens will you then leave us and go back to your tribe ?” The prophet sws said “No, My blood is your blood and my destruction is your destruction.”
