I am here because in the last couple weeks I was diagnosed with having Bells Palsy (wearing patch over my left eye now), and neighbors started calling me Dr. Hook... So I went back to my high school days of the 70's to reminisce a while when music still was written well with soul and meaning... And to me then and now, Dr. Hook in the 1970's reminded me of what the Lovin' Spoonful was in the late 1960's.. Just a bunch of regular blue collar looking type guys who got together, who had real talent, and wrote & sang amazing sounding music, never allowing themselves to be typecasted to one particular style or song- so every song was different in a sense but also a great song that ONLY they could sing as it was meant to be sung...
I met Ray in 2004 and all he did was mess around and joke around with me. I laughed non stop with him for 5 hours straight. Everything was funny. He asked if I wanted a beer and when I said yes he yelled "HEATHEN!!!!" LOLOL, things like that. What a blast. What a lovely guy. He played some tunes on piano and then had a full band come out and did a Hook tribute that had everyone (including the staff) dancing from 7pm-Midnight. Then Ray hung out with everyone who was willing to stay afterwards. He was telling stories, posing for pics, etc. Rest in peace to a true rock and roller and merry music maker.
Awesome!! Thank you so much for posting, it was like opening a wonderful gift full of surprises. I never thought they got their due, but one thing, their fans are hard core and true.
I am especially enjoying this one. I've been listening all day to Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, it is amazing to note their growth and improvement over the years, and sorry to have lost some of the boys far too soon.
My mom was the one who introduced me to Dr. Hook. She passed. Thanksgiving Day last year and I am listening to this music and re-living some fine memories... I was hoping"The Wonderful Soup Stone" was here, but this'll do just fine!!!
Seeing these guys on stage twice on the way up to their peak and having them drop by at my house post concert was like being inside the workings of a musical amusement park. Memories that will play beyond my time.
🥀Beautiful🥀I listened to this whole kinda Concert! I love These Guys so much and always will. They took me on a trip I didn't want to leave. There beautiful ppl and have been under rated for many years! I love this and will continue to be one of there biggest fans🥀✌🥀☝️🙃🥀☝️🥀👣
I love these guys! Making music and having fun. My first concert at Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria, Louisiana 1976 or 77. Talked my Dad into purchasing ticket for $5 at Piggly Wiggly when we were getting groceries. Dr Hook, Joe Cotton, and 38 Special! Rock on!
Southern Kat In the beginning, he was so handsome and looked so good but, as time went on and they did more and more drugs, he looked like a homeless person......
@@aliceriggs7857 Alice & Michelle, it is so damn sad and I have been saying the same for a loooong time... I guess will power or something keeps some of us above the fray seeing the "demon for what it is" , while others are taken under its control by its power... Seen this Demon get the best of so many damn good people including those closest to me over the years... BUT the MUSIC we got to keep alive always and its meaning... THEY can try to erase history today all they want, but THEY will NEVER take away the music or its meaning...
I have not heard them either. Every night when I play their music. I am shocked 😂 that lhave not heard this song before, where was in the 70s except for my 2 babies l sang all those music to my babies. Daaa l am excited, 70 and I get to start over with Dr.Hook. love you all. Jacquie
love all the old photos and especially love Dennis and Ray interviewing each other I miss Dennis being that happy and free and uninhibited and rambunctious where did that go?? I really miss that laugh!!
Yes, I know, but that free, uninhibited, rambunctious boy with the ready laugh is buried inside the "older", "dignified" Dennis. I enjoy the more adult Dennis--he speaks and writes so eloquently-- but I do miss the funny, silly boy he used to be!
just a few word,s just brilliant and and superb i did buy dr hook lp,s but we moved and i havent seen them since so iam going to buy them again love glo
This is far out! I saw them in Hamburg, Germany. That must have been December 1974. It had been a fantastic gig, and though I was stoned I didn't miss it!!
Я всегда был поклонником Dr. Hook! Но сегодня я услышал много новых замечательных песен! Сейчас уже мало помнит эту великолепную команду... Вы в моей душе и сердце! Люблю Вас Dr. Hook!!!
LOVE IT..A LOT OF SONGS i HAVE NEVER HEARD.But I love it,so heart felt songs and I love Dennis voice........ And alot of crazy funny songs, but lord it sounds like they were having fun.
I agree, it's definitely one of my top Doctor Hook songs. I remember there used to be a good recording on youtube at some point, it was stereo and pretty clear. If it's still up, it should just simply be called "february snow" or something like that
I don't know about all of them, but I know "Nobody Hears What I Say" was written by Shel and I think "February Snow" was too. Things like "Cops and Robbers", "Bullfrog" and "Monkey Gruntin'" either came from just jamming around in the studio or were written by most of the band members. Also "Long Tall Texan" I'm pretty sure is an old cowboy song from the 50's.

I'm pretty sure it's weed, I remember reading some Danish newpaper clipping with a photo from the same photo shoot saying that they were smoking it out of a 35mm film box or something
Dennis looked SO much better with short hair....looks horrible with long, scraggly hair. He spent too much time getting stoned and that’s when he gave up on his appearance. Such a shame because he was so handsome.
I must be the only one who likes shaggy, greasy sweaty Dennis better. Toward '80, it starts to look like record company ppl have gotten hold of him and made him take a shower. Smoother music, smoother look, I guess.

Fabulous! Some I've never heard before. Dennis is a beautiful man with a beautiful voice
Incredible American made music. Will be around much longer than all of us.
Can't agree more !! When music still had style and lyrics were made by true Artists and meant something...
My mom was the one who introduced me to Dr. Hook. She passed. Thanksgiving Day last year and I am listening to this music and re-living some fine memories... I was hoping"The Wonderful Soup Stone" was here, but this'll do just fine!!!

I just LOVE February Snow.. one of Ray's best and Dennis doing "Make It easy on yourself"
love all the old photos and especially love Dennis and Ray interviewing each other I miss Dennis being that happy and free and uninhibited and rambunctious where did that go?? I really miss that laugh!!
Dennis, the best ever, still going strong.
Yes, I know, but that free, uninhibited, rambunctious boy with the ready laugh is buried inside the "older", "dignified" Dennis. I enjoy the more adult Dennis--he speaks and writes so eloquently-- but I do miss the funny, silly boy he used to be!
Wow! Fabulous Songs. I also just LOVE February Snow. What a great song! Thanks for sharing.
THIS... is EVERYTHING! THANK YOU!
Thank you!
First song that ever made me cry (was on juke in pizza joint when I was 11-12) was "Sylvia's Mother".
It's wonderful to have such memories. In former times I attended a lot of concerts. Have a suitcase full of wonderful, funny nights. Great youth.
They had such a good time. Awesome
Very nice job William!

It's not like me,but I'm at a loss for words right now...
These Guys were the best back
when 🇺🇸💙🎶Tina from Ks...
Dennis had -- has -- a great voice. But for me, it was always about Ray. RIP Ray Sawyer.
Seems to me that these fellows played for the people. Really didn't bother with fame. That my friend is a rare quality in musicians today
Rip Ray Sawyer!!! Heaven has an amazing man.
It was the "GRASS" they smoked that inspired them & Shel Silverstein!
It was "pure" back then and helped to "create" great songs!
At 49:55, I had this 45 that was included with the album, absolutely hilarious, wish I still had it.
Where the hell was I in the seventies and how did I miss them damned weed anyway
Oh god, why... *WHY* is there no quality quality recording of February Snow? This song is gorgeous. Sounds like Gordon Lightfoot.
I agree, it's definitely one of my top Doctor Hook songs. I remember there used to be a good recording on youtube at some point, it was stereo and pretty clear. If it's still up, it should just simply be called "february snow" or something like that
never heard it before!
Can someone add a track listing please? I've never heard some of these songs, and they are wonderful.
Holy shit so long between photos
Keep on getting on

Great post. Are these unknown songs mostly written by Shel? Arranged by Ron H.?? Rarity Thanks
I don't know about all of them, but I know "Nobody Hears What I Say" was written by Shel and I think "February Snow" was too. It really sucks Ray, and Dennis had a falling out.

What they smok'in at 16:11? This is the early '70s. Nobody was known to smoke crack back then. Weed?
I'm pretty sure it's weed, I remember reading some Danish newpaper clipping with a photo from the same photo shoot saying that they were smoking it out of a 35mm film box or something
What did Ray and Dennis get into it about?
Anyone has titles for these songs? Esp. the one starting at about 10min.? Please!
Loneliest People plays right through the 10 min mark, so maybe your thinking Nobody Hears What I Say which starts at around 11 min?
What the Name of the First Song ?????😅
February Snow
William Foster thank u so much 😘

I love Dennis with his long hair and beard, so sexy!
@ Debbie Balk I do too!! Dennis is gorgeous!! 😍
