The April Fools joke is that Lego is never gonna release an updated minifigure version of this Goblin

I think a Doctor Octopus figure in this line could be wild.

That’s probably the best argument for a Lego action figure. It’s probably one of the only figures that would be better as Lego instead of a standard action figure. . . . Unless you do a BTR style action figure with mounting points for Lego Accessories . . . BTR was a G. I. Joe Brick compatible action figure line . . . Never had it, but would have loved it back when I was younger.

Always love Jang's unbiased review on these type of sets, no sighing, no constant "who even buys these" or "these are just shelf warmers"
also he's the first reviewer so far, to integrate the wings articulation into the pose. Really love how it makes the Goblin looks like he's turning midair

If we still had CCBS, this would have a bunch of great parts for Bionicle and Hero Factory MOC making. I miss CCBS.

I just don't understand why LEGO doesn't release black colored ball joints. It would help in so many actual sets. Most of the time, black is less visible than light blueish gray making mocs look so much better

That's a pretty proper looking LEGO Green Goblin.
I like you were able to get that posing with Goblin on the glider. Very cool.

I wonder if you can put a small tire in between the neck ball joint and connector to thicken it up a bit.

This set reminds me of the Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike CCBS/technic set from back in the day- an armored character (in armor that looked plastic to begin with) alongside a build for their hovercraft... and which is also probably going to be among the last figures they do, if I were a betting man. Still, I kinda dig it. Still peeved they didn't at least recolor those mixel sockets in dark grey or black, but oh well.

Other brands make that chin piece in other colours including green and dark green) , in case someone wants to upgrade their figurine.

Green Goblin looks okay, still not a fan of those low shoulders. The glider looks way too fragile or flimsy, it's annoying that the wings aren't held down.

  • @Lordodragonss

  • @ajpink5880

With a bit of suspension of disbelief, cutting it some slack due to being made entirely out of bricks, I suppose it's alright. Without suspension of disbelief and without cutting it slack, I just don't see why people said the CCBS Star Wars figures were ugly, when these look so, so much worse. Sure, Bionicle looked best, but we're really just getting worse and worse figures who cost more and more money as time goes on. I want to be more positive about this but at some point I'd just be lying.

Great review, as always! It looks pretty good, I think this definitely could work for kids who are moving on from play towards build and display, if it's not overpriced. And for adults, why not?
You mention that some pieces are color locked, what does that mean? Do they have to be a certain color for strength and durability or do they just not want to make them in other colors?

I just can't see who these sets are meant to be for. As a fan of Lego's Bionicle, Hero factory, and most if not all of Lego's Constraction lines (that they don't do anymore) even Galidor, And I Just can't see who these "Construction figures" are meant to be for, They're not for people like me who are fans of Lego's Constraction lines because these Look worse than the Marvel and DC CCBS figures. They can't be for kids who want action figures of these characters because the price point is way to high (70AUD, are kidding me, Lego.) They aren't for the adult Lego fans, Disney adults, or the overlap because they're too busy screaming at Lego to "stay in their line." They aren't for adult Marvel Lego fans because they just want Minifigures, and they wouldn't appeal to adult fans of normal Marvel because they have so many more options that look and articulate much better than this does.
So I can't see who these appeal too.
The best thing about this set is the glider, I'd love to use that in some Hero factory/Bionicle/Mech MOCs, but I ain't paying 70AUD for it.

  • @vissova
    @vissova Před měsícem +2

I gotta be honest, these brick-built figures look really bad and awkwardly designed. I don't understand why they didn't just experiment further with CCBS instead of dropping it entirely in favor of whatever this is.

That mask is so non-Lego to me, I don’t like them spending time and money expanding the parts collection with that.
    I agree price seeming reasonable.
The green at first glance made my brain go, yuk bad idea.
But feels evermore during the watch, that it is planned to grow on you.

Why does Lego still believe they can enter the large figure market? And especially with well established IPs that already have their brands for that slot that know exactly what to do and produce a much better and more faithful, displayable version?
They should bring back Bionicle if they want buildable figures.
Also, people buy Lego because they like minifigures and when you want an IP set, you specifically go for the minifigs, nobody cares much about the building blocks compared to the highly valuable minifigures.
