It's always bittersweet to see such big names and personalities leave the Vocaloid scene. On the one hand I feel happy for them cause they've found a new brighter and more successful path, on the other hand it's so sad cause Vocaloid is losing such wonderful and talented artists when it's in dire need of them.
Vocaloid is simply training music producers to become professionals.
There are many people who left to become independent artists or create their own band. It's great for them and bittersweet for us

Many of Yorushika's songs are easily relatable almost to every one of us. As it portrays the happiness, sadness, love, uncertainty, and the basic human mind it is so easy to get drawn in it as this happens to everyone. I was really curious of the people behind Yorushika, especially the one that writes the song. I was surprised as to how Yorushika's song can almost read my whole life story, it was so correct for every lyrics. I guess it just truly depends on how we perceive things to be on our own. But now that I know that N-buna wants to just share his music as an art then i'll respect that and be happy. Thank you for sharing
Ya, it makes me wonder if young adults have "angst" or if they just haven't shut them selves off emotionally yet like so many adults have. Personally at 30 I'm realizing I need to stop ignoring my emotions and embrace them. Is it melodramatic to care about these little things... ... or is it psychopathic to not?

Sproot Overalls it’s kind of bizarre that you weren’t aware that n-buna wrote the songs, the official Yorushika channel even is called “Yorushika/N-buna Official” or something though it’s nice to see that the yorushika community is growing

it was so weird!!! like, one time we were just bopping, and then this video comes in with all of that and it's just??? i didn't initially like it, but the amount of derivative works from it meant that it became a song enjoyable, in some form or another, by everyone. i liked learning the dance, with the big swingy arms. unfortunately, it feels as though it also led to more popular songs being the ones with big budgets and pretty pvs. a lot of early vocaloid had fanart or boxart for the video, with subtitled lyrics to make up for the muffled phonetics, or just to make the kanji and puns more evident, and, if they had a full pv, it was usually done by a dedicated fan or the songwriter

But at the same time, from my perspective, it is hard to detach an artist from his work. When I discovered Yorushika, what struck me was the emotion from the songs. It was coming from the lyrics, melody and voice of the artists. I always thought to myself : You cannot share that much emotion and give it to other people, if you never experienced or understood it in the first the place. And that's why I always think about the people behind the work, even if its a story involving fictional characters. It's like, when you listen and watch their music, we're sharing something between us.
So when he said " I want you to see my work in a way that does not involve the existence of "me" " , I don't really know how... (not really sure if I'm being clear ^^)

anyway i'm a bit too tired to post a giant essay but i did want to say that this series has been absolutely beautiful and i never thought this way about n-buna and yorushika as a whole. say it is definitely my favorite track of theirs and suis is a phenomenal singer. and thanks for the translations, my god, i've been looking everywhere.

I think why so many relate to his song is simply because n buna really understands himself so well that his songs just come out and reproduce that "feeling" and many of the teenagers get that "feeling" he was pouring into his song.
Yorushika is the definition of if you're happy you love the music, if you're sad you understand the lyrics. I appreciate the duo talent and helped me through bad times and also the good
I know this video is a bit older but it really amazes me how the Plagarism album plays into this. N-Buna and Suis revealing their faces in two separate music videos, the lyrics addressing the anxieties N-Buna feels towards his music even more head on than “Why I Gave Up on Music” talking about how he feels his work is simply derivative, but that he didn’t get into music for money or fame but to make something beautiful. I think this album really helps tell a new story about his work that gives so much more context to Elma. The self awareness and self inclusion he’s shied away from is brought to the forefront in a new way (he even does some backing vocals of his own in Plagiarism, echoing the words Suis sings). In Thoughtcrime he talks about his feelings towards music, why his lyrics seem to express the deep feelings we all wish we could express and how it was just a way for him to say the things he couldn’t say in real life good and bad. It’s a really mature album (though I think all of his work with Yorushika has been pretty mature) but steps away from the usual lyircs about shortcomings interpersonally and instead focused on the things he feels he himself falls short on. It’s really interesting to listen to the lyrics and what he wants to express with the context given by this video essays look at his works beforehand.

I feel like he's succeeded in trying to do just that. When you listen to his music, you focus on the meaning behind it, the music itself, instead of the artist singing it. I feel like there's very few artists who do this (unsurprisingly, most from Japan). We've grown to idolize people who make the music, instead of actually appreciating the music itself. Sure, the artist deserves praise, but to put it in an easily understandable manner, wouldn't you get at least irritated if you make something and they always praise you, or even your skills, instead of the work you just pured your heart and soul into? It's nice being complimented for who you are, but it's much nicer to have something you worked on be complimented. At least that's what I believe.
After finally watching this video, Thoughtcrime brings a whole new meaning to the table. Mostly pointing to n-buna. Great video dude and I do agree about the "pandering" part by the end. He doesn't totally need to interact with us. Him simply doing his own thing for the sake of art and us consuming it in our own pace makes the "interaction" between far more genuine and far more tight than as you said "7 co-writers being paid millions" And now I love n-buna and suis even more haha.
N-buna seems to approach his musical career very similarly to Hiromu Akita. Just to a lesser extent.
I like that approach alot, of leaving the music speak for themselves rather than appearing on every talk show under the sun like most famous musicians do.

I didn't really know why I liked them at first, I just did, and thanks to this video, I have a deeper understanding of why I like them so much. Their genuine approach to creating music is so real and passionate, and well, I just have the same philosophy with n-buna when it gets to assessing the work one makes, so that made me like them more. Just found this channel, I've just been experiencing vocaloid through surfing youtube and finding songs for so long now, its such a nice feeling going through the history of all these faces that I just found popped up in my feed over the years. So happy to see all these organized thoughts that explain things that i've only been able to piece together through random people in youtube comments

I’ve always been a big fan of Yorushika, but I never realized there was such a big story behind everything. Thank you for making this, it’s incredibly well made and your voice is very nice to listen to!
I also love how he completely devotes himself to his passion. I really appreciate that he releases these masterpieces into the world. I've lost interest in quite a few artists after they became popular simply because they started to make music which would have the least chance of failure, which means that it has to be as generic as possible. If the artist choses this route then I'll respect their choice, but I won't listen to their new music. Therefore I really appreciate the way N-buna keeps things the way they are.

Yorushika need to be more known. his work and arrangement is honest and filled with emotion. story telling written with genuine passion in a very impactful way. its not about good or bad, not about cool or catchy. it is pure beautiful piece of work. cant really compare it with most songs nowadays.

When I first discovered Yorushika, I had no context or background to help me understand what sort of impact they had on the world: all I got, when I first heard The Clouds and the Ghost and Just a Sunny Day for You for the first time was just...some special music that I had a hard time finding anywhere else. A set of gentle yet powerful music where you find yourself immersed in completely. Whether you're wandering in your imagination or introspectively thinking about what these songs means to you, what these songs do to you...it was hard to put into words just exactly what made Yorushika's music so special, simply beyond just thinking 'I like it'. But you've helped me come up with a few ideas.
Thank you for this. I'm sure it's been said a lot but Yorushika's work personally means a lot and I love the feelings that arise when I listen to their music.

soo that explains why I feel like I am connected to them in a sense. He may have said to separate his identity from his work but I find it easier to understand an artist from their work. In any case, their work is absolutely soulful.
as an artist and storyteller, i have been through a similar emotions as well regarding my own works. i enjoy making and sharing my works, my personal projects that could be considered loose diary entries at this point, but i really don't want to make it something famous and instead just hope those that view it can enjoy it and even fit themselves into it. and those that criticize it will criticize it "as is" and their interruptions.
n-buna has really become one of my most favourite Japanese music artists at this point. thank you for making this video, ive learned many things i didnt know and even comforted to know my perspective of what i want with my work is shared with someone who has inspired me so much through their music.

just found out your channel because of these n-buna, i love the infos you've given in them, i always thought n-buna's older song sounds more idealistic and was wondering if the rise of yorushika's fame had a part in it. also the Wowaka one is also a really good one, he's hands down my favorite vocaloid producer and it's really sad that we all lost him.
looking forward to the producers videos, i'd say the ones that made a song series will make a good video, like Honeyworks, or mikito-P, or the one i'm personally veru interested in, kemu. keep up the great job!

I just randomly stumbled across your channel because of your melt video, and i just wanna say thanks. I'm not sure why, but listening to the stories and history of various parts of the vocaloid community made me tear up. It really made me think about how there's just so much heart in all of it! So many artists that used vocaloid as an opportunity to express themselves musically in a way they just couldn't without it. It's why i feel that vocaloid will, in a way, never really die, because these musicians will inspire others to make music, and miku will always be there lending a hand to those that want to put their feeling into a song.

Really nice video that gives a lot of insight that I even had no idea about being a fan of n-buna since his vocaloid days. Can say that I do miss him on the vocaloid scene, but its nice to see having Yorushika made him even more well known as an artist. i honestly felt that siina wrote his story from the first song he wrote until red pen, the lyrics describe his growth and how he slowly lost himself until the unfortunate end, there were some upbeat songs, he did collabs etc but still end up lost... rip powa2P/siinamota
Aqua Venus his first song is named "ohayou" (good morning) which probably symbolizes the beginning of his artistic journey? i didnt look into the lyrics but it was the first thing i thought of when i listened to this song for the 1st time lol

I love the emotions that sui puts in the song. Like “a hole in the heart” and “dance of you”, you can feel the anger in her voice and in”nautilus” and “the reason i gave up on music”, the sadness and frustration. At least thats my take on it
This was a great video. I'm just a casual listener for yorushika so I'm not familiar of most works mentioned here but the way you constructed this video made them seem like precious gems, which I think music which are created in a pure way, truly are.
I discovered Yorushika after finding their song "Just a sunny day for you" on a random Japanese music playlist on Spotify, and I've been listening to their music ever since. My favorite songs are probably the aforementioned "Just a sunny day for you", "That's why I gave up on music" and "Say It", the latter of which is one of my most played songs on Spotify.
Truly inspirational.
I personally as an artist would seek a connection to my audience as it feels meaningful to me. Sharing art and enjoying it together.
However, nbuna's philosophy is really respectable as it shows how much he cares for his art and it inspires me to be a better musician myself.
The music really can be interpreted multiple ways if you don't know the story, which is why I love it so much.
