No. Not in extended mode. The only exception is the when using it to play videos on CZcams / Netflix, you can turn off the screen. Also see my other short video on how to use it wirelessly.
Does it work with the iphone still locked? My phone has water damage and now the screen stays black. Maybe it will work with the HDMI adapter but it is locked. If there’s already a video feed when locked then it can help me with unlocking.

When I used the adapter, it doesn’t let me play shows or anything whatsoever. It works for games and apps, but shows, movies or videos it just get stuck in loading. Can you help me solve this issue?
