This is the first part of a 3 part video about percussion revolving carbines of the Civil War era. Cameraman: Capandball, Editor: Capandball, Music: Apache war song.
Recorded with Canon 600 D, edited with Corel Cideo Studio x3 Pro - Věda a technologie
I have a serious announcement to make: I will film the review of the rifle again, re-edit it, and upload it without the native music. :)
+capandball Thanks! Dont think the natives used the revolving rifle too much.
+capandball Good idea, I can barely hear you with the indins on the war path!
Thank god!
+capandball I like the music, I'm not offended by it or anything, but I'm glad to be able to hear you better.
Thanks man
I couldn't get a thing out of this, that bunch of drunks yelling in the background overwhelmed every word you spoke.
Great comment. Lmfao.
The loud "HEYA HEYA HO HEYA HEYA HO HEYA HE" is distracting couldn't follow it at all.
yeah, I was wondering about that myself. Inappropriate for this video.
😂😂😂😂😂
Zulu...
I found the video about indian american chants great whats weird is that the video seems to display a revolving carbine from the american civil war
Heee yoooo Heee nedyayehhh Yeheho n'dja hé!!! Heeyooo¡!!!!!!
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Nazi
Say what??
beautiful rifle.
And a original
i am very jealous .
I don't know if you stopped speaking but you were no longer heard after a minute or so.
thank you for sharing this rifle.
Very informative and well filmed video. The music, though, was a bit overpowering. Thanks
I'm laughing so hard about the comments on the music thanks for this!
Me too lmfaooo
What the HELL is with the indian music?
that barrel breach was an amazing idea it lessened the chance of chain firing greatly than the ones used during the civil war which could blow your hand of fingers off. Very good video my friend this is just the kind of video ive been looking for for a long time and i thank you for the great description on this american classic
I am interested in what you have to say about the 1855. That chanting is a pain.
Id give anything to find one of these rifles, a repro would be an amazing addition to my weekend shooting trips
All i waited for was the music to go "EEEEH MACARENA" sometime
He ya ha ya hendayo, oayaha. Don't know what it means but, it is a catchy tune.
Super job! Very impressive undertaking in getting all the details in.
I couldn't hear it either for the Indians. If the Indians are yelling in your ear, its too late to use the rifle.
xxxcom
That is a beautiful firearm. You always have great videos that's why i am subscribed to you.
Let your this video be 10 years old I will still give a Like not because of gun but of native music..
I like the native american songs but it would have been nice to hear some audio balancing so you could hear you.
Great video, my friend love to watch
if I was a candle that bloody chanting would get on My wick
2:47 AAaahaaaaaa
Nice music. .. and great video.
Would've been an interesting video but what was supposed to be background music was so loud and obnoxious I couldn't stand to watch it. There's a reason it's called "Background" music.
In the mid-1960's, we had the occasion to put one of these revolving rifles into battery. A fella was protraying a Col. Fields from the First Tennessee who had carried such back in the day. The rifle we had was about 90%; a touch better than the example illustrated. The cylinder gap was all but nil. Well, we loaded that wheel piece up under the recommended powder chart with a ball cast from a period mould. We decided to "sneeze" the rifle remotely with a tire as bench and support allied with the pull of the string. The rascal went off like a charm. However, I was giddy that no one was holding the rifle in battery. The "Spray" from the cylinder gap was a halo of fire.... How they shot these things without cooking an arm is a mystery. We suspected a gauntlet glove was a must... Even with glove and field jacket, Ole Rotator would singe the "fire" with robust flash and report. I never did shoot it....
THAT FUCKING MUSIC! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Love the 1855 rifle it’s so unique to me.
I eagerly await your next videos
I am loving the Indian stock music! It is so awesome!
I had to stop, too. Made it to 3:19 before my brain ceased to care about the main subject. But I will keep an eye (and ear) open for the revised video.
I stopped watching because of the background noise!
Like on websites you should not have moving graphics where there is text to be read, in videos you should not have other noise where there are words to be heard!
I think the Indian drum music is probably fairly spot on for this rifle. The revolving rifles were pretty much obsolete by the time they first hit the market. The Spencer, Henry, and more powerful breech loaders upstaged the revolvers. So this kind of rifle was often available and bargain priced for traders to sell to the Indian nations.
Sooooo nice
Reminds me games like Red Dead Redemption or movies like Navajo Joe and stuff. I love that part of history, the transition between Early America and now days America.
Couldn't watch with the indian racket, sorry.
Me niether, and im Cherokee LOL
love the apache song
Heche Yeah! the Mountain Spirits song of the Mescalero Apache a proud people
That is one unusual rifle.
Actually, the guy in charge of purchasing arms and equipment is quoted "Repeating weapons encourage poor marksmanship." He didnt even order any spencers until lincoln ordered him to. And even after that he only ordered a few thousand.
I actually enjoyed the music it felt like a nice touch to the video and a good background for the carbine.
NUTS!!!! I like this one better.
nice
Heyah heyah hendeyoh!
HÜÜÜAAAHHH!!!!
music 😂
Three questions-
1. Where do I get one?
2.How much?
3. GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!!!! lol :-p
Awesomely put together video- Focusing, camera placement, ect
That is a mighty nice original. I thought it had 6 cylinders but I guess I was wrong ha.
I like the music it could be tuned down more as background but I have no problem with it
I don't really get the big fuss everyone is making about the Apache war song. I think it sounds pretty good, and fits with the gun.
The Apache song in the background is the Apache war song
Hoodie Hooooo! ........ YES SIR!!!!!!
I like the music, s'all I have to say
That 1855 is in such good condition, I thought it was a reproduction.
Hi hows it goin? I have recently subscribed to your Awesome channel and i also recently aquired a 1855 Tower Percussion Naval Issue Pistol, in incredibly good condition, It has all the appropriate Marks etc.. My question is, are there any places that you would reckomend to get spare parts for this pistol ? as i have a broken Trigger spring and i really would like to find a replacment if possible, love your channel dude ,thanks and keep em coming, Loc
Good job like ever capandball. A question, What do you think about the revolving carbine from
Alfa-proj model hunter 357 magnum cal. ?
Why did you choose to use the songs of the Apache people in your video?
I've heard two things about the .56 caliber military version. One it used progressive rifling, and two. the barrel was tapered so it was a tad bigger at the breech, inside wise and tapered down to the muzzle, thus kind of squeezing the lead ball or conical. Is this true?
I loved the background music ;)
Oh for heaven's sake, put those screws in a pan or something before you loose them. Taking that thing apart on a log about gave me a heart attack.
I take my Colt 1860 apart in the grass. I am obviously kidding. I take mine apart on the table.
Robert Neson I drop every screw at least once, no kidding that video made me sweat.
At least he was not taking it apart on top of the Empire State Building. That would have been bad.
Heya heya heya endioh endeioh
A bit hazardous to have your hand out in front of a percussion Cylinder, an accidental chain fire, and your hand is history. Don't forget the Crisco. The music is okay.
You should've shot those wagon burners before recording the video. It would have been nice to actually hear you speaking.
Nice video but did you have to put that bawling racket on it to fuck it up.
They had a bad rap for chain firing, which in a rifle would result in losing some fingers. Whether or not it actually lived up to that claim, I'm not sure. One thing it DID do though, was burn your arm when gas escaped through the cylinder gap, which while easily remedied by wearing sleeves, surely did nothing to improve its popularity.
it was very unpopular with the troops , being there was a tendency for all the cylinders to go off all at the same time. i would see about getting a cartridge conversion in .44 cal .
weitzfc1 Chain firing is easy to prevent if you have a can of crisco handy.
this is good stuf ok , verry safe
yep you did
Seemed like a good idea until you have a crossfire and a cylinder not in battery goes off into your support hand.
I see many comments about the chanting so I won't say anything about it.
Egy más nóta jobban illett volna hozzá szerintem is, illetve néha túl hangos a szöveg alatt.
Egyébként maga a videó tényleg nagyon jó! Nem lehetne újrakeverni valami más zenével?
IT HAPPENS IM NEW TO SO FAR I JUST SHARE
where do I find that song?
Heee yoooo Heee nedyayehhh Yeheho n'dja hé!!! Heeyooo¡!!!!!! Heee yoooo Heee nedyayehhh Yeheho n'dja hé!!! Heeyooo¡!!!!!! Heee yoooo Heee nedyayehhh Yeheho n'dja hé!!! Heeyooo¡!!!!!! Heee yoooo Heee nedyayehhh Yeheho n'dja hé!!! Heeyooo¡!!!!!!
It would be nice to hear what your saying. But the only thing I could hear was the chanting crap in the background
I do not consider traditional Indian chants noise. I live in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and that is, the Indian capital of the world. The town host the American Indian Exposition every year, and I am part Cherokee. I did however, find it too loud in parts, to hear your narration.
đẹp quá ta
Hmmm....................a very old country music background.
This is an excellent video on the details and operation of the 1855 Colt Root revolving rifle. For me, the Native American chants really don’t detract from your commentary as they do become muted when you are narrating. What you are discovering from the complaints is what happens when shooters don’t wear hearing protection: hearing loss in the mid-range frequencies, which makes the perception of conversation difficult when there are background sounds. LOL. The only observation (not complaint) about the Native American chants is that they have no context to the history or provenance of the rifle, except that any Native American at the time and place of one of these rifles would probably have been at the receiving end of the rifle and probably not chanting so calmly and spiritually. LOLOL. I commend you, however, for your sensitivity to what your audience says they like or don’t like, and adjusting your delivery to make your audience’s experience the most enjoyable and positive experience possible. That is a top-flight presenter who adjusts to communicate with versus “to” his audience. Kudos to you. Great work and thanks for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge and experiences. I am also pleased to see that there are firearms that you can enjoy where you are at, which seems like a much more restrictive place [than the United States] in regards to what citizens can own and shoot. You’d probably have a great time - and make some great videos - with the broad range of centerfire firearms you’d have access to here in the U.S., including selective-fire ones (machineguns, submachine guns, etc.).
You found a firearm I was not familiar with. That's not easy to do.
Great video! Annoying music, but nevertheless.
i liked the native american music idea but you should have used some revolutonary war native american songs or some civle war ones
Where did you get you repro?
hey whats the name of that tune I want to listen to it for ever now.
+s west lol :)
I wonder why most Uniion troops were issued with single shot rifled muskets. Were guns like this just too expensive? Were they hard to maintain? I'd have thought having multiple shots would be desirable.
What's the range on this thing?
Nothing wrong with the music itself just a bit loud
yep, turn the background down or off. Really doesn't have anything to do with the weapon
The natives are restless !!!!!
I didn't know the American Indian invented the Macarena...huh, go figure.
Mennyibe kerül egy ilyen puska?
capandball you need to address all the Native American prejudice going on here.
The music was great. Dont mind the lousy curmudgeons.
Nice video, but the native chanting was quite load and therefore distracting.
I do however very much appreciate your mature informative videos. Thank you.
how common was firearms in Europe during the wild west era ?
nice video..maybe the background music is a little intanse to begin with.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ENJOYABLE -AND EDUCATIONAL -IF THE MUSIC WASNT SO VERY LOUD ABD COULD HEAR THE MAN TALK
One complaint is the volume of the "music" vs the volume of your voice...
Great video, bad back up music.
Old Shatterhand puskája
Like the video but the music was a little loud, I had a hard time hearing what you were saying. Sorry!
Your videos are one of the best on youtube. Your choice of audio is just terrible. I still love to watch your video, but there's a lot to improve on the audio part.
An interesting video but annoying music
eu também qual é o nome???
The soundtrack makes it unwatchable
