LEGO Star Wars 75359 332ND AHSOKA'S CLONE TROOPER BATTLE PACK Review! (2023)

  • LEGO Star Wars now has a 332nd Battle Pack but it's not all it's hyped up to be. LEGO Clone Troopers continue their quality decline with 332nd Troopers becoming markedly worse with this Summer 2023 LEGO Star Wars set. They've also gone back to including named characters in Battle Packs featuring a poor representation of Captain Vaughn here. Worth picking up one to say you have it but I'd advise against building your LEGO Clone Army with the uglies and supporting LEGO going so cheap & lazy.

      Indeed, if people really do want accuracy they can just hit a CAC or other third party store to get a more accurate figure of Vaughn. Even with the visor he can be passed off as a generic sergeant or other high ranking officer. I believe that this is the approach Lego should take going forward with clone BPs. It achieves the best of both worlds by allowing collectors to army build and hardcore clone fans to have an appropriately adequate figure of a named, notable character.

      Or maybe they couldve repositioned the hole in the correct position, it wouldn't affect the rangefinder piece, the binoculars piece is new so they couldve made it the correct position / median position between p1 & p2 helmet hole height, and they should make a new piece for the visor, as the one we have is too outdated imo, it's a relic from when pauldrons and waistcapes were plastic piece, it's too blocky, and we should get a thinner, slicker visor piece imo

      @user-fg3dz5kv7q Před 10 měsíci

      I think the whole notion of Lego Star wars, or even Lego itself, being intended purely for children is silly. Generally, Lego seeks to satisfy both the older and younger consumer groups. The battle packs, while having, like you said, the function of being merely a "cheap set to play with" (as evidenced by the more childish build included), they also serve as a means through which the older consumer, who has the funds necessary, can buy multiple of them and create armies or large groups of them, after all, by the source material, these are army troopers. It's the same with microfighters, a kid gets a silly little build they can swoosh around, a collector gets a desirable character in a cheap set. I genuinely believe they have two intended purposes and this is financially beneficial for the company. I think you are wrong to dismiss a critique from the adult consumer side by saying it's just a toy meant for little kids, as that's not true.

      @@user-fg3dz5kv7q i never said its only for little kids, but it is intended for them. the box says 6+, which doesnt mean that adults cant buy it and collect it, but does mean that it is targeted towards kids. helmet holes, while they may look ugly to some, are meant for kids to play with and customize clone troopers, not for adults to criticize. it is likely partly lazy work on legos end, but critiquing it as much as it gets critiqued is not deserved. it is a play function and works as such. no one else complains about stud shooters or flickfire missiles, even though they look ugly. thats because its clearly meant for kids to play with.

      @@monstrblood6682 Great observation Mr. Skull emoji. I don't think they're particularly improperly implemented (now that's a tongue twister) but whatever. More importantly that's the part of the set that serves the purpose of satisfying the younger consumer base. An adult doesn't need an army of speeders or other goofy looking builds they've come up with for these, but they're there for the kid that gets a cheap set to play with, like you said. A kid doesn't need the helmet holes to be filled, but it should be there as it was in the past so that it is not off putting to the older collector who will get multiple of these.
      Lego doesn't want to make the figures more customizable for children, they want to save money by reusing the same mold.

    Vaughan’s minifig is decent, because his helmet design is different only because it has the two straight things on the top of the helmet. This could have interfered with the orange markings’ print on the helmet, possible reason why they kept the same 332nd helmet. We didn’t get upset when cody didn’t have a printed visor either, so I imagine the reason why they didn’t include it here was the same. I guess the torso is a bit of laziness, but keeping in mind this is an army builder, they likely kept it white so that you could switch helmets and have a 501st officer, as you probably wouldn’t want 5 captain Vaughn’s if you wanted an army.

    I wonder if they use the same printer but the head piece is wider that’s why it’s spread out?

    Honestly loved how this other reviewer said If you buy this battle pack and the other battle pack you can just combine the body’s with the helmet and there you have regular 501st troopers and vice versa

    I’m happy the black lines on their helmets aren’t as bold

    I don't see myself getting many of these. I never got the aat, so only reason id get this is to just have some ahsoka clones.

    i like how the captain vaugn issue kinda resolves itself, the rank insignia not being the captain rank you can rationalize it to being a lesser officer, making army building better kinda?

    Is the 332ed trooper still part of the 501st legion since they still have blue strips
